For all you PvP players who want balance in the crucible I want to explain why bungie's balance patches terrify PvE players.
For the entirety of D1 almost every balance patch ruined something in pve. Sometimes it was single weapons, sometimes it was entire play styles.
The auto rifle nerf made them unplayable for most of the life of the game.
Pulse rifles were nerfed after that.
Hand cannons were made terrible for the life of the game.
and on and on.
Shotguns, side arms, snipers, grenades, melees, were all made weaker.
And every time something was nerfed into the ground something else took it's place.
The result of all of this was the launch of D2.
Dual primaries, weak abilities and supers, lame exotics almost across the board.
So historically bungie's balance passes almost never benefit PvE. The one exception was when they buffed shotgun damage in D1. People loved it and were melting bosses with shotguns.
Bungie nerfed shotguns in PvE almost immediately after that.
Recently we've actually gotten strong and fun weapons and supers.
The EP shotty, whisper of the worm, 1k voices, sleeper stimulant, way of 1000 cuts, well of radiance.
Many PvE players are terrified of bunge doing balance patches now because all they ever do is make things weaker. That's why whenever nerfs are brought up lots of people reply with "NO things are good now leave us alone!!!!!"
I don't have all the answers for how PvP should be handled, nor am I saying that nothing in PvP needs addressing.
All I know is that myself and may others are loving all the fun powerful weapons and abilities right now and we don't want them to go away because they're effective in PvP

1 ReplyThere's no balancing Destiny. Nerf the OP stuff and something else will take its place.
-
6 RepliesI'll tell you why I fear balancing. Ahem.
D1: Shotgun PvE damage cut by 50% to balance them in PvP.
Never again.
-
4 Replies2 solutions: create pvp specific weapons (even pvp variants) or do it halo style and have everyone start with khovostov and have other weapons around the map.
-
2 Repliesmad truth. The same can be said of pvp for most people. when you "balance" the game by removing all the one shot weapons, it basically turns into a game of chess, and team play is the only way to win. The problem is, people came here to play destiny, not chess, and pvp devolves into something very few people enjoy, hints the numbers that D2 suffered only a few months after launch.

11 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 10/25/2018 1:07:26 AMYeah, Bungie so-call balancing the entire game that was based off of PvP gave us the wonderful D2 base game. Now they have to spend the next 2 years trying to somewhat bring D1 back and please Activision's puppets at the same time. You know, they need to make a living trying to get people to subscribe. The devs that created D1 had it right in spite of the game issues and being chopped up to sell in pieces like D2. When D1 released PvP was created to be a casual event and Bungie literally stated that. It's when the puppets caught on that they could make a living is when this game started down the wrong path and has been headed in that same path for 4 years now. I really don't care anymore what anyone thinks. This has way more issues then D1 ever did that not even The Taken king was this bad off. In fact? when this company got to ROI, Thank you Barrett, that had a foundation to work with this company let Luke Smith take over for D2 and all the while it should have been Barrett if anyone at all. Funny, we don't hear a peep from Luke now trying to back this up lol. Solution
To get this game rolling as it should be, Bungie should drop the puppets like a bad habit. They have become the worst thing to happen to Destiny. Halo didn't sell well because of the puppets. Halo sold well because of the passion that was put into every aspect of the trilogy. It was more so being created for the gamers as well as themselves, not puppets. I don't know why for the life of me they had to mess with the movements in this game. D1 movement for the Guardian is what made the game fun among other things. Bring back the movements they had in every aspect of it. D2 movements make me feel I've been robbed to play how I use to like to play, even the simplest thing like the Titians glide that was cut short in D2 was fun to use in D1 PvE... Bring D1 random rolls back, this half backed system is not working at all, especially with how low the loot pool actually is. Create different loot to chase, max level and exotics with this progression system has caused more issues for this game then there should be thanks to Activision's puppets. Create optional matchmaking for certain events giving gamers a chance to play certain events more often. Bungie knows how easy it is to do knowing they so easily did it for the haunted forest. Create bounties for other items then 75% of them being just for the material. This is supposed to be a loot and shoot, not shot and grind mostly for material. Give all the vendors an actual inventory like D1, this only 2 mods the gunsmith offers is not cutting it at all. He should be flowing with all kinds of items or at least the amount D1 had. Open the factions and leave them open like D1 and give them a rotation system like D1. This shutting them down for a month or so at a time removes loot from the game that takes away some of the incentive in this game to grind when material seems to be most of the grind time in this game. PvP, bring it back to how it was intended to be, a casual event. Activions puppets with the help of the overly competitive gamers have help Bungie create a mess that never will be balanced in anyone's lifetime. Remove the power advantage in IB. All this talk that the puppets like to be competitive just turned into an ego thing. D1 IB was fun, rewarding and had the gear that gave the incentive to want to play IB in spite of the gamers complaining things were "OP" Previous events like EP should be kept relevant, not everything in this game needs to be but leaving all the previous content behind leaves less to grind for in this game and keeping certain things relevant gives a purpose to want to play the game. There is no way in hell that there is too much loot in this game at this point that this shouldn't be a thing. This is just my opinion that will make a would of difference for the PvE aspect of this game that would majorly improve it.
1 ReplyYou guys realize bungie does their stuff on purpose. They have no interest in balance. They push meta rotation to let the addicts have something new to do. It's part of their addiction model. And in all fairness there is a group of players that would actually get bored if everything was balanced. I'm not one of them and I think it's really stupid and call them out on it every chance I get but it is what they do

20 RepliesPVP is actually pretty fine the way it is in my opinion. People just get sad because they want to play a way that doesn’t work and they demand that the way they want to play becomes the way that works best for everyone. I saw it in D1. Everyone wanted to be up close and personal but weren’t good with shotguns so they complained until Bungie nerfed shotguns. Then they said sniping was too easy...Bungie nerfed sniper aim assist and lowered body shot damage. Shotguns are too easy nerf them! Sniping is too easy nerf it! Thorn is too easy and cheap nerf it! Tripmine grenades no longer stick to guardians...but fusion grenades would still kill you and so would magnetic grenades. If everything was so easy and so overpowered why were the complainers not good with them? People who were getting wrecked and complaining never stopped getting wrecked....even though the game continually got less and less fun for everyone else.

1 ReplyCuz they hate skill Era. They love their noob teamshooting Era.

Edited by FdYAcsoyPKN83gLE: 10/27/2018 5:34:57 AMI remember when Bungie used to show a lot more love for strikes than crucible. Like Bungie never rehased a mission to be a strike in Destiny, but in Destiny 2 they have in two dlcs.

The reason that people complain about pvp is because it exists. There is always something to complain about in pvp because everyone has a different playstyle. But probably the biggest reason that people complain about pvp is because people that hate pvp end up playing it for their powerful gear or bounties.

1 ReplyHere is the thing, the game is unbalanced in ways that are so obvious it hurts. Thus, the game requires changes to make each ability/weapon equally viable. The problem is, things get nerfed too hard or buffed too much. This causes the community to have balancing PTSD. I think it would be wise for Bungie to implement smaller, more frequent changes.

4 RepliesTrue. Sleeper nerfed because of PvP woes of gambit. What a shame.

I do not get all those complaining about Riven or whatever boss being melted.... Did Riven complain to Bungie ? NO! He did not. So FU*& off and let us melt the bosses in 2 seconds if we can - the only outcome is we have more fun and play it more often ... if people do not play more it means new contents needs to be created - and not make existing repeats slower and slower with each nerf. Simple solution to PVP : Make it one weappon (Handcannon). Done ! Nothign more is needed for those re-spawn triggered players. -
Fear is a path to the dark side

As a player who mostly does pve, I can confirm that this statement is true. You pvp dickbags completely ruin how viable a weapon is for things like strikes and blind well.
-
9 RepliesThe answer isn't remove pvp for the idiots suggesting it. And I feel that if you can one dmg phase riven you should be able to. The point isn't to be as hard as possible, the raid exists to reward people who are able to do it loot for their time put in. At least this takes effort to grind light compared to atheon aoe nades and crota dashboarding.

I mostly agree. I'd say Hand Cannons werent terrible though, they just werent as fun. Bloom is a horrible mechanic for anything other than hip-spray. Also, Bungie have to take some share of the blame for the hamfisted approach to balancing.
-
The only way to balance pvp is to take away all perks on guns and armour so all players are on an equal level. If people have a problem with some then lock them out and just leave gun play on a level field! As you imagine I only play for engrams when I need to or a quest. I don’t think it’s bad at present, I don’t constantly get killed by same guns or supers. In short separate them so no nerfs are required
-
6 RepliesHoly god damn, I remember hand cannons before the range nerf in D1. Damn things used to be able to cover good distance. Now you need a good perk or two.. but I guess they were clearly meta in PvP. I love them so much lol. They reward precision and fast reaction time better than almost all other gun types save for snipers. And the only PvE sniper that gets used these days is Whisper lol.

10 RepliesEdited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 10/26/2018 10:30:14 AMThings clearly need to be nerfed in PvE seeing riven can easily be cheesed.... and that's supposed to be the pinnacle of the PvE experience. All the weapons you stated were unusable in D1 after a nerf were still fine. Pretty much everyone ran handcannon sniper in PvE. I ran around in raids with my doctrine of passing from trials. Not to mention weapons were nerfed due to PvE I.E. gjhorn ice breaker etc because of the same problem the game is having now which is bypassing the intended PvE mechanics for boss fights and just nuking them because PvE is absolutely unbalanced at the moment. What is the point in having mechanics in PvE if you can just absolutely cut them out... again riven as the perfect example.

13 RepliesLuna’s howl and braedrix needs nerfed

4 RepliesThe answer is to totally separate pvp & pve. What they could do is have you go into pvp via a hot air ballon powered by a school bus. You then float down to the map via an umbrella. Once you land you pick up weapons by finding them in chests. Then to make it interesting you could have some sort of shield that closes in to make the fights close quarters towards the end.

1 ReplyEdited by IRaidWithAussies: 10/26/2018 11:53:25 AMThere's companies that make 1/100th of what Bungie makes a year that has completely separated PvE and PvP. For example, if your red devils does 276 in the PvE, and only 86 in the Crucible (I don't know or care what the actual numbers are) That means they already have the technology to Separate the two. They just aren't trying. Instead of trying to achieve change amongst individuals, you should be rallying up against Bungie. You'd be surprised what cooperation will accomplish. You guys all made "remove eververse' posts in unison and the best you got was them saying 'No' You need to do more than just say words

Edited by ST1LL BR3ATH1N3: 10/26/2018 11:48:02 AMPve needs nerf
-
It’s been time to completely separate weapon tuning and balancing between pve & pvp. The whole franchise has needed this since day 1 of D1. Until then fear the mighty nerf hammer of the PvP cry babies, for it will destroy your pve fun.
-
2 RepliesIgnorance of the purpose of balance patches leads to power creep, whether that is power creep in the negative or positive. If a 'nerf' is the simplest avenue to reestablish the status-quo of the games sandbox, then a reduction is the best option.
