Guided games is one of the biggest fails of D2.
Based upon what I remember of the D2 reveal, I remember guided games being talked up by that lady for about 5-10 minutes. The concept seemed awesome, but ,like all of D2, the functionality was lacking.

2 RepliesKnew it was going to flop when I realized I needed a token ( or whatever the hell it was ) in order to be a seeker. Bungie builds something, and then makes it as un-user friendly as possible to utilize, that’s been their M.O. since D1 shipped.

I said several times since they announced Guided Games that it will fail. They talked about it like it was some revolutionary thing, and they never shut up about it, but all it was was a piss poor attempt at an in-game LFG when there were already several well established LFG sites already in existence. Guided Games was never going to be good enough to compete with that. Guided Games was too little, too late. They created an extremely basic function with weird rules, and then expected it to work... At one point they tried to claim that it was incredibly popular and it was a success, you know, when the forums were lit up by posts complaining about how bad and useless it is. Face it Bungie, not everything you try works. Just own it.

This thing completely flopped but it will stay in the game for all of its lifespan just so the feelings of the developer in charge won't get hurt. Same thing with the new Fireteam finder, everything with a "Beta" tag from Bungie is pretty much dead on arrival.

I believe she said something along the lines of: As a female gamer I’ve been bullied so I wanted to make a match making safe space. Almost word for word. That was her great idea and why we have Guided Games. Bungie needs to take a page out of Star Wars book, get rid of the SJW’s! They will ruin your franchise. Just ask Lucas Arts how well Soylo did with the SJW Director.

When D3 is being revealed.... maybe y'all will listen to me. I said it would fail...but tbh it's not a complete failure. I use it as a Matchmaker. 20,min wait time? Ok I'll watch some Hulu while I wait. I also called the weapons system sucking back then and the Eververse store. Now I am Eververse 😈

Bungie never wanted people to have grouping tools in the game. They only included it because people asked for it, and because it's obviously needed. That's why it's so half-assed with poor incentive to use. Like everything else Bungie, it's half-baked alpha-release trash.

3 RepliesI mean it’s fine functionality wise. The disconnects are really the only issue. The community clearly just doesn’t find it useful and didn’t embrace it. Part of the problem is that it’s so clan heavy and clans are so fractured right now. It’s much easier using lfg because you can explain experience levels and stuff I don’t think matchmaking really will ever work for raids.

4 RepliesI have used Guided games many times to get a a 3rd for Nightfall, never had a problem with who I got. Because of this post I did a Seeker for the first time for this weeks Nightfall. Took about 10 minutes to get a team and about 10 minutes to run the Nightfall. Never used it for the Raid, maybe that's where the problem is don't know.

With everything wrong with D2, claiming something as the top D2 wrong is the hardest choice a gamer can make.

1 ReplyI was just in a guided game with my clan buddy and we were half way thru when I got kicked out of the game. Took five times to get back in and they gave me a 15min penalty for leaving the game.

3 RepliesI think if you were allowed to do other activities at the same time as being in the queue it might have been more popular, kinda surprised that wasn't how it worked when I got into it Also didn't get why seekers had a limited amount of uses of it. It's like 'here, we've made this awesome feature to help solo players get into content, but you can only use it 6 times, after that you're back to square 1'. Seemed like madness to me.

5 RepliesI'm really not sure why Guides Games hasn't just been turned into optional matchmaking by now. It works the same, only it actually works.

It's still in beta you know. They didn't expect to have it in full release until much later.
