Here's your shot, get this bitch trending!
The point of this poll isn't to review the system as it relates to the full release. It's to hear current impressions post the BETA.

1 ReplyI love the new weapon system. A lot of times in Destiny 1 I'm switching weapons throughout a strike or something, but now I got 2 primaries I can switch between. Also elementary primaries so already better. The weapon system definitely benefits PvP the most though and for me makes it playable again. I do think Snipers being heavy ammo is a bit weird since they still can't one shot, have barely any ammo and even less AA than D1

Still remains to be seen until we get the final game, but im so happy that it's not going to be a snipe fest. The meta in d1 yr2 and yr3 has been awful...

6 RepliesEdited by Mmm Toasty: 7/28/2017 6:32:27 PMI like that it's different. I like that it won't be a sniper heavy game, I'm sorry. People keep talking about all this variety in d1, and like I just wish that was real. I started with ttk expansion when it came out. And the next 2 years were basically... PvP trials...sniper, hand cannon Pve end game... sniper/rocket I think they balanced around end game activities, not specifically just PvP. Trials had like 4 months of shotgun meta. It was a fun change of pace, but we all saw all the sniper posts claiming they hated the shotgun meta. Snipers outweighed shotgun users. They had to change snipers without giving shotgunners a better circumstance. Like when they nerfed sidestep down to 1. They also nerfed twighlight garrison. Because they knew the hunters would bitch if they didn't, for good reason i will add. That's not diversity. People can claim diversity all they want. But every raid I did, every trials I did, it was just heavily weighed around sniper useage. In my opinion, snipers are the reason for this change.

All i see is 36% of the community want to play destiny 1.5 and stick with the same weapon system, the rest of us want to play something different, such as D2.
-
They can't change it even if they wanted to. The entire game is built around it. The code is in place. The engine is in place. It's not as simple as shifting snipers & shotguns to Energy weapons. What is done, is done. But hey, PVP will be one awesome experience atleast

I like D2. It is more like Halo's where the weapons that get you an easy ohk have low ammo and harder ohk's have higher ammo. Makes everything more controlled and predictable.

2 RepliesI personally like the change because it adds a sort of artificial increase to difficulty for pve. In year one the only things that really made nightfalls hard was the fact that you had to start over if everyone died, which in itself was only difficult because of that modifier. As it currently stands in destiny 1, you can have a weapon combination that can do absolutely everything high DPS (snipers, shotguns, fusions) and ad control or consistent damage (rockets or lmgs) What this new system does is force the player to be one or the other, not both which I personally like, sure it removes the fun of the game, but I'm sure people don't like raids because they were easy, but because they were challenging, and now that just about everyone can do these raids (that wants to) they can do it with relative ease because they have no drawbacks on weapons or abilities (hate the ability cooldowns in destiny 2) It's an artificial difficulty I feel like will draw me in more because I won't be able to just obliterate everything as easily anymore. Here's to hoping for a more challenging destiny 2!

2 RepliesI like the D2 weapon system although I am not thrilled to not have my voops in the secondary slot.
-
If it wasn't people would just complain anyway. "Too repetitive".

1 ReplyI enjoyed the PvP when I played, but I don't know if it is nostalgia or I genuinely like the new system for PvP. For PvE I do not like it all. I miss being able to use the variety of weapons and I don't think dropping more power ammo will make it much better because I still lost a weapon by it being two primaries. I'm looking forward to D2, but I'd be lying if I wasn't scared. I liked the beginning of D1 much more.
-
3 RepliesCan't really vote on this. I like the new weapon system for PvP. I HATE the new weapon system for PvE.

1. The results were very surprising. 2. I can't remember the last time a democracy was wished into existence, but good luck!

heh.. i like where this poll is heading so far. i personally like the change. but i also like that D2 is going to be different that D1(which i love D1). it's just cool to play another game in the Destiny universe and it's also cool that it will feel fresh.
-
1 ReplyBasically, the people who voted in favor of the new weapons system are happy with the fact that Destiny is becoming generic like every other shooter in the market right now... These will be the here today, gone tomorrow players that make the most noise now but have relatively short attention spans. We will see how much longevity this system and different style of gameplay has in a month or two after everyone has ran through the content and only has gameplay elements to fall back on as far as entertainment.
-
I have to be neutral because d1 was heavily nerfed and d2's definition of weapon classes is a sad, sad mess.
-
4 Replies1 benefits PvE the other benefits PvP. Can you guess which is which?
-
1 ReplyThis poll needs different options: I prefer Destiny 1 Weapon system I prefer Destiny 2 Weapon system I prefer Destiny 1 WS in PvE I prefer Destiny 2 WS in PvE I prefer Destiny 1 WS in PvP I prefer Destiny 2 WS is PvP
-
I'm 50/50. I like both (so far) for different reasons. Oh.. and upvoted.

Shotties and snipes should be in either first and/or second slot. Not the power slot. Nobody is gonna run up to a boss with a shotgun.
-
Preferred the d1 system also movement and jumps from d1, the changes make it feel horrible, regardless of all the new activities for pve I feel these changes make it pointless for me as it just doesn't feel right, more like a prequel than a sequel, just my thoughts though.

1 Reply*warning this is a mainly PVP players perspective* I love the new system it allows for more gunfights, and reduces ability spam, but I find that without power weapons to get quick pics teamshotting rules and is causing issues for the average solo player. I think once people get used to the new system there will be apparent ways to counter teamshotting.

D1 weapon system, but start each round with 1 clip of special ammo, keep what you had in your clip upon death and remove all reserve ammo upon respawn.

Edited by contra_reality: 7/28/2017 5:27:13 PMShotguns/snipers/fusions should be primary. Rocket/linear fusion/grenade launcher (buffed of course) should be power. People complain about the weapon system but fail to realize that 1) snipers seem to be nerfed quite significantly. I'm talking 900 damage crit on the strike boss compared to 60 damage crit from an smg. On a per magazine you're talking 2700ish for sniper v 2100ish for smg. Believe it or not, this puts snipers on par with primaries hence they should be grouped as a primary. 2) the health pool was reduced significantly. Even while only doing double and triple digit damage crit shots it felt less tedious killing the strike boss than a D1 strike boss. If this trend of less spongy bosses with more mechanics continues then I'm okay with the weapons being weaker. Let's be honest, sitting in the back of the map pot shotting with a sniper or going god mode with a Gjallarhorn wasn't fun, it was just easy loot. Like OMG I can't just rain wolf pack round rockets on that sucker and collect loot... I demand a refund. That being said, the new weapon system is better but I'd suggest putting snipers/shotguns/fusion rifles (not linear fusion rifles) in the primary slot with 3 round magazines. Let's face it, no one in their right mind would pick a sniper/shotgun/nonlinear fusion rifle over a rocket launcher or linear fusion rifle at their current state for PvE material. With that adjustment I feel we could have a healthy diversity of loadouts.

this post is irrelevant and utterly inane as nothing will change this late in the game
