Here's your shot, get this bitch trending!
The point of this poll isn't to review the system as it relates to the full release. It's to hear current impressions post the BETA.

6 Replieslol @ only a minority of people preferring the D1 system. This is overwhelming confirmation that Bungie has made the right choice for D2.
-
I prefer the D2 system. The reason? Instead of Primary, The Stronger, Easier Kill Gun, and Heavy, we now have Weapon A for this situation, Weapon B for this situation, and -blam!- YEAH POWER AMMO TIME. Makes you have to think about which weapon is best at the time instead of leading with your secondary until you're out of ammo. It also makes PvE a bit more of a challenge.
-
D2 weapon system is shit!!!!
-
10 RepliesI'm amazed at these results, I honestly thought that the old weapon system would win this poll hands down, especially as I don't know a single person who claims to like the new system.
-
I much preferred the weapon system in D1 for PvE, but I like the new system for PvP. Everything in the Crucible feels fair and balanced and there's not much more to say there. PvE however, I feel very underpowered. In D1, I would only ever use my primary for dealing with small fry up close, special for guys at a distance or bigger dudes like minotaurs and knights, and then special and heavy for bosses. Now it just feels like a slog during boss fights. I doubt it'll change, but I hope the D1 system comes back for PvE and the D2 system stays in place for PvP.
-
1 ReplyI'm using the new D2 system now... I just use my primary during a strike. 2 grenades and one super near the end... Great fun you should try it...

Edited by Ace_Eyed_Ace: 7/30/2017 9:50:07 AMPersonally I'd rather bungie allowed us to decide what weapons go in what slots, within reason of course. Combine both D1 system and D2 systems... Kinectic weapons - as it is. Energy weapons - all elemental based primary weapons, low impact/high rof shotguns, low impact/high rof sniper rifles and fusion rifles. Heavy weapons - HMG, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, swords, high impact/low rof shotguns, high impact/low rof sniper rifles, linear fusion rifles. With this system you could only equip either a low impact SR/shotgun or a high impact SR/shotgun, not both. Also a fusion rifle or a linear fusion rifle. This would create a lot more diversity for weapon set up. Bungie could even change the designs of the sniper rifles to accommodate this alternative weapon set up. Low impact/high rof SR's would keep the current designs - semi auto High impact/low rof SR's would change to bolt action SR's.

Oh wow how the race has tightened! Bungie needs to open their eyes and come up with a compelling weapon system in D2. Mods are bullshit boring and unoriginal. Once you have them all you will stop playing. Grinding, though I hate it, I also love it, because it keeps me chasing that carrot. And when you get a God roll it is worth it. Also it is folks like me who spend a lot of money in this game, close to 500.00! These are your true clients Bungie! The ones that stick around.

Holy, this poll is close. I like the D2 system a little more. The common complaint is that shotguns and snipers will never fill the same role as a rocket launcher or grenade launcher. I agree, and I'm pretty sure that was the whole point of shifting them all into the same category. I feel like Bungie may be doing this to try and shift the gameplay into being more role-based, rather than everyone carries a sniper into the raid for dps. I feel as if this will force players going into raids to develop more flexible strategies, working in tandem with the locked loadouts system. What if going into a raid, you had your two best marksmen taking in snipers, your most aggressive and mobile player taking in a shotgun, your two crowd control players bringing rocket launchers, and a flex player taking in a grenade launcher. This role-based strategy is just a speculation, but I personally think it would be really cool to get players into doing jobs they are the best at, and creating a team that can adapt to situations quickly. Plus, running dual sub machine guns is fun.

41 RepliesEdited by Miofwin: 7/31/2017 9:19:06 AMI think the only reason people like the D1 system is because it gave them a power trip. You could run so many incredibly unbalanced weapon combinations in D1. Which made PvP broken and PvE became a chore rather than a joy. D2's weapon system is much better, it's clearly balanced better and requires more thought on the players part instead of just a braindead jack-of-all-trades system. Good show, Bungie. [Edit] Seems like people are really upset with me expressing my opinion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
1 ReplyD1 loadout is clearly what the crowd wants. Make it so, bungie.
-
I'm just worried about the raids.
-
17 RepliesEdited by Lady: 7/29/2017 6:11:51 PMI don't know if the people that voted for D2 weapon system were Crucible players or a whole lot of casuals that only patrol or just like to shoot everything in a strike that they've done over 100 times. D2 weapon system is only good for PVP it hurt PVE real bad... I can already see the raid being stupid easy. They definitely did this to get the casual players to raid.
-
The contrast in votes is interesting.
-
Please keep the Destiny 2 weapon system in place, it's much more balanced.
-
What bungie should of done is run the D2 setup for pvp, and one primary weapon with two heavy,s for pve. But they're still refusing to seperate the two 😡
-
What if they just create a pve only exotic shotgun for primary 1 and a pve only exotic sniper for primary slot 2. Pv P will be affected and u can have a primary, sniper/ shotgun, heavy layout.
-
4 RepliesDestiny 2 will be a lot better as the way it set up it bringing back gun skill. Crit hit are getting rewarded again and it getting rid of snippers guarding lanes and the radar great too making it easier to flank teams.
-
39 RepliesActual Bungie employees and mods don't count. Your poll is rigged lol.
-
1 ReplyA lot of people aren't thinking about a key point here. The only reason people hate the new system is because of how it affects pve. If people think that only having 1 viable dps weapon slot will make boss encounters long, then they are mistaken. Bungie will have adjusted the raid bosses health to make up for that loss of dps potential. Right..?
Bungie pls :(
-
4 RepliesI like the changes. Obviously it needs to be tuned a bit, but now the freedom to make truly powerful weapons exists without the threat of breaking the game. Snipers with 8 in the mag. Fusions that deal ludicrous damage. Shotguns with incredible range. All of these now have a home that doesn't cause them to be rampant troublemakers. As for the "2 Primaries" argument, I actually rather like it that way. I can now equip an Auto or SMG for close range and a Scout or Pulse for longer ranges, if I like. If I wanted to load up like that previously, it was Scout and Shotty/Sidearm, or Auto and Sniper. It adds more flexibility to the loadout when dealing with standard enemies. Not saying that it is better one way or the other, but both systems work well.
-
You do realise this is WAY too late?
-
Destiny 1 weapon system of course .
-
The only thing I'm kinda upset about is that heavy weapons no longer feel like power weapons. Sure that's what they are called in D2 but is a shotgun or sniper rifle really the same as a rocket launcher or heavy machine gun(bummed they got rid of them)? I miss just the pure power that was supposed to come from heavy weapons. Obliterating massive groups of enemies with a RL or HMG. Taking massive health chunks out of a boss with the Sleeper. Even just going Leroy Jenkins and using only a sword with ruin wings during a strike!! Either way I'm fine with it but I will miss some things from D1 and hope that this new weapon system will be fun.

14 RepliesEdited by Smough: 7/29/2017 11:33:44 PMLet's compare how long it took to kill things with destiny 1's system vs destiny 2's system... Oh yeah, it's pretty much the exact same. But now we have more options for different situations.
-
Interesting. Support seems even for both systems. Almost as if the game is split into PvP and PvE.
I know not everyone that likes PvE wants the system from D1/not all PvP players want the D2 system, but that does seem to be the general preference
I prefer the D1 system of primary, secondary heavy. But I've been playing that for almost 3 years, it's what I'm used to. There weren't enough good weapon choices from the beta to make a proper comparison, but it'll be interesting to see how it plays once we have access to more gear.
