Vote on Weapon System [Bungie Hear Us]

I prefer Destiny 1 weapon system

2476

I prefer Destiny 2 weapon system

2503

I'm neutral on both and will play whichever

1615

Here's your shot, get this bitch trending! The point of this poll isn't to review the system as it relates to the full release. It's to hear current impressions post the BETA.
inb4bungiedoesn'tlisten
*EDIT* We have some great discussion and feedback in this thread. Thank you Guardians!

  • I prefer being limited to mostly primary weapons and no class customization because I can't figure that stuff out since I'm a potato. ^^ Voted Destiny 2

    • Biggest problem is they could have done PvE and pvp differently. Leave PvE alone, it was fine. Take your new weapon system and implement it only in pvp where it was needed. Srsly, how many games have you played where the loadout systems look completely different for pvp and pve? There's absolutely no reason for them not to have done that.

      • One of the saddest aspects of this weapon system change is that it was completely unnecessary after making the change to static weapon perks. With that change alone we could have kept the current D1 loadout, or at least not have 2 redundant primary weapons. The problem they were addressing from D1 was a combination of randomness of perks, special ammo economy, and ammo regenerating weapons. All they had to do after changing from random perks was to eliminate ammo regenerating special weapons completely, which I'm sure they did anyway after everyone used them to bypass special nerfs. Next, simply balancing special ammo and done. Every class of special weapon starts each match with x number of shots, allowing small changes for each individual archetype, lessening starting ammo with increased impact. Ammo is retained after death. When you run out, you run out. No more special for you. It could be something like 1-2 mags for the whole match. Switching special weapons causes ammo reduction or even total loss. PVP map is shown before spawning in so a weapon choice can be made. Or, simply use a box exactly how the power weapon boxes work. Nobody starts with special ammo. Only 1 player gets ammo from a box and upon death, loses that ammo. Players cannot hold any more total ammo than what one ammo box contains. No special hoarding, but that's hard to do in the first place when you lose it upon death. Boxes would have similar spawn times as power ammo boxes. Additionally for the box suggestion, power weapon boxes could co-exist as is with ammo reduction, or go back to a single power spawn on both sides, or even a trials like single mid-map spawn to fight for, or any combination of these with one or both box types. Presto. Bungie, your job has been done for you. Numerous possible fixes without trashing PVE or making certain weapon types useless in PVP. PVP matches are still primary weapon focused and balanced, while retaining all current special weapon aspects of D1 on a balanced and lesser scale. PVE gets to keep their favored weapon loadouts, while still retaining PVP balance, and NOBODY HAS TO RUN DOUBLE PRIMARY. Really? No one could see how simple the fix was while making D2 Bungie? I would hate to hear the ideas that were proposed before you landed on the 2 primaries, and everything else is a heavy weapon idea. But, you all know that Bungie likes to go overboard when repairing things. To me, it simply looks like they decided on the current set-up out of laziness and lack of foresight for what should have been glaringly obvious. But hey they'll keep throwing money somewhere. They're too stupid not to. Forget about the game's quality.

          • I don't mind the new system in PvP. I hate it in PvE. Since PvP and PvE will never be separate I voted for the old system.

Simple solution... 1 primary slot 1 power slot 1 utility slot (any -blam!-ing weapon you want including 2nd grenade or ability) DONE.

            • Funny, I can see the vote tallies now but couldn't earlier. Unbelievable that so many Guardians voted on this poll. I feel like this poll shows the split between Democrats and Republics. It's like the PvE people versus the PvP people. I thought Trials was divisive! Having Cozmo chime in was great too. Bungie needs to understand how many Guardians hate the new weapon system. Hopefully its not too late to fix this. I'd like to enjoy launch.

              • Old weapon system wins hands down if you consider the amount of fanboys that don't care about the quality of the game on this forum. It's easily 3/1 fanboys/thinking gamers.

                • So let me get this straight, you guys think that having two primaries takes more gun skill than the D1 load out? I would argue that it takes more skill to get a kill with a sniper, fusion, or even a sidearm than with a primary weapon battle. With D2's load out system, the opponent will always have two primary weapons and you can tell when they pick up power ammo and also what type of gun they are using. So it takes more skill to go against someone where you know what type of gun they have and if they have ammo? In D1, there are multiple special weapon types and you never know what the other team will have or if they have ammo. Plus, if you are good enough, you can counter being team shot with most special weapons. In D2, PVP will get boring after a month.

                  • I don't mind the new system at all. It remains to be seen how the weapons develop over time and Bungie's history with that isn't hopeful but in the beta they were underwhelm.

                      • Just a bunch of random thoughts. D2 is like going into a golf match, and you are only allowed 3 clubs, and you choose a driver and 2 putters. Snipers/shotguns do not have the same job as a rocket/grenade launcher. They just don't. These changes were made for pvp, period, and that sucks. Snipers and shotguns were removed from pvp because of a bunch of people that whined and bitched for 1-2.5 years. I understand the change for pvp. It was not needed and is crap for pve. They will compensate in some way to make up for the dps loss, but it was not necessary. In an attempt to balance pvp, they made pvp slower and much easier and hurt pve. Sounds about right. This isnt bitching or whining. Im sitting here quite happy on a sunny Sunday, watching some espn and sharing my views.

But then again it could be Bunigie cooking the numbers, after all it is their site. Considering the outrage I've seen in posts across this site and the web I smell bull$h1t here!!!

                          • I don't mind the new weapon system in D2. However.... I do feel that the weapons are a bit lack-luster and the ammo drops could be a lot better! And please....make the exotics actually feel exotic and special. If Bungie improves some of these weapons along with the ammo drops, I think more people will embrace the new system.

                          • Most people on this thread: " I love the new system for PvP, but despise it for PvE " First, I respect your opinion but I gotta say it..... Really, you don't like it for PvE because you cant DPS cheese raid/strike boss' with a sniper and rocket launcher anymore ahahahahaha That's just my opinion so grow some thicker skin before this gets you triggered.

                              • to be honest, having a vote isn't going to do anything. you need to back up your decisions as to why you chose what you chose. without constructive feedback, there is no point in threads like this. it shows Bungie exactly nothing.
