It is about damned time! I hope they do this right though!
Full disclosure: I have my own raid team(s) to run the raid with and can raid virtually any time I want. I likely won't use the feature, especially if it is optional matchmaking.
With that stated, I am all for anything that helps remove barriers to accessing content. Sure, it will not be a perfect solution, but nothing in Destiny will ever be perfect. It is a feature that I am sure will work for some, and it may even get more veteran raiders performing the roll of Sherpa for less experienced groups.
Like and bump this post if you think Bungie is doing the right thing by considering matchmaking for raids!

I can see them implementing this into older raids, but not newer ones. Vault of Glass, Croat, and now even kings fall. But certainly not the wrath of the machine. (And should be optional of course.)

. I don't understand why people don't join a clan a make few friends that they can enjoy the game with an have a laugh. Also come across a problem that many have. No mic I am not sure how or why you don't have one as you get one with console. An you can get one for next to nothing nowadays. I personally think mm in raids would be a disaster an would cause an extra hatred on the forums with people bitching an moaning. Just my opinion though

A comment was made in an interview prior to release of the game. I do not recall it word for word but the basics of it were..... the game will never have matchmaking for raid events, the reasoning was the amount of players that would raid would increase the amount of cheeses/glitches/exploits to a point that could break the game, give excessive loot, etc... We shall see, I would like it added for the older raids.

44 RepliesEdited by Scorpius XX1: 8/27/2016 7:22:41 PMNo offense to anyone here, and I'm not pointing out one person that may be for or against optional MM in raids, or any other pve related end game activities. However, this is by far, the stupidest argument that continues to be had on the forums, more than anything else. The only player that suffers any consequences from entering a matchmade raid team optionally, is that player. They take on the burdens of that decision, and of course the other players on that team. Whether this one or that one has no mic, whether this one or that one is a complete noob, whether this one or that one doesn't know left from right, whether they spend seven years on a raid, wtv. This in no way affects those players with premade raid teams, or those that desire to use lfg, in any way, shape, or form. And it's ridiculous to argue otherwise. Optional raid teams are not going to finish the raid faster, by most peoples own admission. for reasons advocates of lfg continue to point out. In point of fact, logically speaking, I think most, if not all of us should agree, that it will take longer, if they manage to finish it at all. So it's honestly baffling to me that anyone would be against it. There are no advantages for matchmade raid teams, but there are many disadvantages, so what's the problem? The only logical conclusion I can draw, is that this argument against is some sort of elitist crap. Players more interested in being Destiny dictators and instructing everyone else how they think the game should be played, instead of minding their own house. And let us not forget that lfg isn't exactly a bastion of finding great raid teams either. You can still run into noobs, players with no mics, etc. Usually the chances of successfully completing a raid with an lfg team are about even, which is probably what the success rate of optional MM would be as well. In any case, whether Bungie decides to implement this or not, this argument needs to end. It makes no sense to even have it.

Edited by GothmogTheTyrant: 8/28/2016 7:23:10 AMJust make it (optional) so the elitists can let us have fun too & not throw temper tantrums & cry... & they wont have to make it easier either, it will be that much sweeter when you beat it with a bunch of randoms & you may just... I don't know... Make some freakin friends! & maybe never have to play with all randoms again!!! Stupid elitists...

This raid must be srupid easy if they're thinking of adding matchmaking. They just keep dumbing this game down. I got to 335 last update in 3 days of iron banner and my other 2 characters to 334. This game is becoming a joke. But I'm still gonna grab my titan gear.

13 RepliesMM for raids would be horrendous, especially if people have no mics and or no idea what they're doing. Bungie just needs an in-game LFG.

9 RepliesMM for Raids isn't needed. LFG system in game is.
-
Hopefully it's better than crucible matchmaking. That crap is unbearable now.
-
Thalnok in CoO proves why MM will never work. Plus an article recently on making raids explain why MM isn't in raids.
-
Yeah for old raids like VoG and C.E lol they won't make raid matchmaking new content so keep dreaming lol
-
3 RepliesI don't think they should add this at all. There are plenty of places for random players to team up together. I've done plenty of successful raids with random people using the recruitment page on the forum. I feel like matchmaking would not work because you have to rely on the fact that the 5 other people have mic's, know what they are doing and want to take it seriously.
-
It has to be optional. I can't stand strike match making as it is, let alone trying to worry about randoms in a raid scenario. Especially if I'm raiding in a team of 4 or 5 and I don't want dead weight in the team. I couldn't care less if it's optional, go for it. But if it's compulsory it's going to be a -blam!- of a thing

1 ReplyWould not work. It's super easy to find five other people to raid with using LFG and these forums as it is. The problem is finding five other people who aren't going to be idiots. I've taken a run at KF 4-5 times with random groups and at least one dude on the team wrecks it every time by refusing to do what has to be done (i.e . he'll mistakenly jump off a plate every time, etc.). And that's when people have to go to the trouble of looking for a team. The chance of getting a functional 6 person match made team is basically zero. Just think about strikes. I don't think I've done three strikes in a row that didn't feature at least one person not playing correctly (i.e hanging in the back or AFKing). Match making in the raid sounds like a good idea but it would never work.
-
If true it would be such a welcome addition for players like me. Just keep it as an option. Don't force it on anyone.
-
TTK Raid sucked ass, doubt next one will be any better as they are known with this game to have a downward slide since release.
-
1 ReplyThey may add it for the new raid seeing as how they're claiming it will be less about mechanics. According to the game informer article anyways. New raid could just be a big prison of elders.
-
33 RepliesWe don't need matchmaking... Instead we need an IN GAME LFG TYPE OF SYSTEM. There should be a board that you can do this Raid? Choose a raid (VoG, CE, KF...etc) Activity? Choose an Activity (Crucible, Nightfall, Strikes, Heroic Strikes, PoE, CoE...etc) Number of players needed 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 Looking for- Experienced or Unexperienced players Mic required? Yes or no Light level? Choose 290-300 300-315, 315-320, 320-335 etc Alert Other Guardians? Yes or No Once you choose to alert other guardians. If they are looking at the same board a message will pop up for them to view. A list of your requirements and what you want to do will be there Guardian1234 would like to do Kings Fall Heroic Number of players needed= 5 Looking for Experienced Players Mic Required= Yes Light Level= 320-335

If they put in raid matchmaking, a lot less people would go on LfG. Tell me, when was the last time you saw a lv41 PoE post?
-
Trying to find a raid team on LFG is kinda like when you've just graduated and check out job postings. Every add says you must have experience and knowledge of this that and other. So you think how the hell am I supposed to get experience when every opening you see requires previous extensive experience. So raid MM could be the opening that many players are looking for. I've raided some but not as much as I'd like. If it is optional and doesn't interfere with those who have ready made raid groups or use LFG then I say go for it.
-
Just make an IN GAME LFG
-
OK so the first group you matchmake with might not be great but you can keep those who are good and rematch until you find good people.
-
random and probably not the best place to ask BUT later I'm going to be helping a friend with vault of glass for an exotic, anyone willing to run it real fast ?
