It is about damned time! I hope they do this right though!
Full disclosure: I have my own raid team(s) to run the raid with and can raid virtually any time I want. I likely won't use the feature, especially if it is optional matchmaking.
With that stated, I am all for anything that helps remove barriers to accessing content. Sure, it will not be a perfect solution, but nothing in Destiny will ever be perfect. It is a feature that I am sure will work for some, and it may even get more veteran raiders performing the roll of Sherpa for less experienced groups.
Like and bump this post if you think Bungie is doing the right thing by considering matchmaking for raids!

At this juncture, I'd just like them to put it in so I can hoard the salt from those who see how gash it will be (unless the stars align).

5 Repliesthey will never add raid matchmaking hardcore raiders will be matched with noobs. adding matchmaking to the raids is how to piss off half of the community

1 ReplyYet in another article on GameInformer, the lead raid designer discusses how they have more creative freedom in raids because they can assume all 6 players will be in voice chat. They can't make strikes challenging because they allow matchmaking, and the players may or may not be able to communicate. Sure we could hope that after matchmaking for a raid, it's understood that everyone will join a party chat, but what if they don't? I'm okay with introducing matchmaking, but I sincerely hope they don't have to make raids easier as a result.

8 RepliesEdited by Talismanta: 8/26/2016 4:30:14 PMAs useful as that might be, strikes can be hard enough with randoms. Mainly the exotic sword strike.
-
EW NO Playing with randoms for strikes is bad enough...
-
It's something they've considered but listen to Deej in the latest IGN firteam chat, it's not something they're going to do. They think it's a harmful experience and after doing strikes and POE with randoms a raid would be a friggin nightmare, no thanks.

Hopefully if they do put it in it'll be optional, I do not want to worry about having a full team at all times to not worry about having it filled for me. Also I'm sure we'll see a large influx of posts saying the match making is broken for not getting people together with competent players. And they better add a option to kick AFK/nonhelping players.

2 RepliesEdited by Nike: 8/26/2016 4:41:01 PMMaybe a mini raid mode, not like nightfalls, but with lower tier rewards? What's going to be done about afkers? ~TheGreatNike

would prefer an in game lfg to matchmaking

2 RepliesI'm not getting forced to carry, if that's the case I'll just be over raiding. I do carries, spent two weeks helping teams through. Even stayed in a 6 hour sh!t fest just to help these guys complete. So no, I'm not being selfish, I prefer my choice to carry or not.
-
Hmm do i like this or do i not guess it depends on what i want to deal with: A: a team that is made by me in lfg or B: a team of possible noobs and randoms hmmm hard choice

5 RepliesEdited by ThisMahSwamp: 8/26/2016 4:09:43 PMIf The Division's Incursion matchmaking system is any indication of how this will pan out.....99 in 100 match made groups will NOT be able to clear the raid from start to finish. It's good to have the option...but I can't wait to see the forums ablaze with "Worst team ever" posts.
-
Lol forbes. They've posted so much garbage about Destiny in the past its impossible to take this seriously.
-
Players must use third-party websites, or have friends in real life who they can coordinate with, in order to form raid teams.
Think they forget that bungie.net has its own recruitment forum?
-
I think this will only work one way. If they make it purely connection based matchmaking, but then again that means a good 50% of the time or more you my get matches with "noobs". But hey it will be good for those peple who don't want to LFG, but I will still be matching teams befor the raid.
-
I don't care I just want matchmaking for the nightfall. Because it's now just an heroic strike with better loot (barely) I think they should add matchmaking so I don't need to wait about 2 hours for an LFG post.
-
2 RepliesI guess thats ok, but ill still use LFG.
-
Hope it's optional, last thing I want is somebody losing connection and somebody randomly getting thrown in my fireteam

As long as it's an optional thing you can toggle on/off I'm happy.
