Very simple question I'd love an accurate answer to (Nova Bomb)
This is salt-free, I swear. I just really, really want to objectively know:
If I see a Titan through a doorway, and he/she FOH someone else, I am also killed.
If I Nova Bomb the doorway, I waste the bomb. Why?
If a stormcaller calls, or an Arc blade dances, and I jump....I die.
If I throw a Nova Bomb and they jump/duck, I miss them. Why?
My main question as a day 1 Warlock is...why is the Nova Bomb treated as so special in the fact that it has to be so precise?
Does it kill more than FOH? No
Does it kill more than blade dance? No
Does it kill more than StormCaller? No
Is it special in some capacity? No.
Does it charge faster than the others? No.
Does it have some intrinsic value that is superior to other Supers? No.
I just would like one simple, rational answer why I have to tiptoe the lines of precision with my Super in order for it to work, when others seemingly don't have to?
In IB last night, Titan began animation of FOH as I was just about to kill him. It worked. I died.
I begin my animation to Super kill enemies, if it aint perfectly timed..they shoot me from full to dead. Why?
Please...not complaining. Too far along for that. Just dying to know if I'm missing something about the uniqueness or lack thereof of my Super.

1 ReplyA perk called "annihilate" on your voidwalker will fix your "small explosion" problem. If I'm not mistaken, the "dire ahamkara's skull" helmet should fix your "dying while casting nova bomb" problem. I run a voidwalker and I've never had the problems you're talking about. You may consider turning on "lance" so people have a harder time escaping.

1 ReplyI've used voidwalker as my main since I started, sometimes it's frustrating when you feel it should've got the kill, but it's a trade for the massive range. On the other side of it, I've ran underneath a voidwalker and actually been behind him and still been hit with his bomb. If you're having this trouble though, use the perk that gives bigger explosions and bloom, see if that helps maybe.

What makes me laugh though is the way the game sometimes awards the kill to the last enemy that looked at you harshly.

I just use trident (or is it fork?) And use novabomb like it's a better ranged shotgun. Add bloom for area clean up

Nova bomb has a slower activation time compared to Fist of Havoc + It you shoot a wall/roof bye bye super

4 RepliesUhhhhh, as a Titan main, I've been destroyed by so many Nova Bombs, there's purple residue when I wipe my butt now. I think you're just doing it wrong.

I use shatter and annihilate so I don't see much of a problem

If you have lance or vortex on your nova bomb instead of shatter, it will do through doors much more easily.

As a void walker mainly, throwing nova bombs are easy. You wait for blades and storms to come to you then blink up and fire the bomb down. They die every time. You might die too but most of the time you won't. I get more double and triples with my bomb than most people, it's one of the best supers in the game Bc it can counter every super and it can be aggressively. The most balanced class in the game and I'm happy as hell to play it every night.

Don't use it as a panic button. Plan your placement. Put it by their feet rather than aiming for the head. Account for travel time and drop distance depending on what spec you run.

Honestly even with the Skull of Ahamkara and annihilate nova bomb could use some help, nothing huge but maybe just a small armor and blast radius buff...

Low risk high reward pretty much. You shouldn't miss a nova bomb. I'll admit that I have missed them before and seen some pretty bad ones but it's literally a small nuke that can be thrown across the map or used as a panic button. The only thin that really needs to happen is a camera angle change or hitbox fix because there are times when you can be standing in the open and somehow hit the dang ceiling or a doorway that's behind you or something

I don't understand why you take damage from your own nova bomb. It seems like every time i activate my nova bomb I die , only if that person is close by. But still, would you really use a nova bomb in someone that's far away. Nope. cause you'll probably whiff it.

As i hunter i would love to be in those games where nova doesnt kill me. Atm i get killed on the otherside of doorways, when i am higher in the air than the warlock that throws it, i jump as high as i possibly can and it still gets me (i think that might be lag). I have the exact same problems with foh. I just put it down to lag though because thats all i can think of because i have no idea how netcode and such work because computers are too complicated for my simple mind. I can do physics but computers are a no go.

I know how you feel. I try and get the Best out of my Nova Bomb with Shatter, Angry Magic, and Bloom. This Helped me get one Phantom, and Reaper. I have gotten Slayers with it, and I find myself Dying to an Arc Blade who hits me once and dying to my own Nova Bomb. I feel Like Nova Bomb has become one of the Weaker Subclasses, even with the Build I have.

1 ReplyOk, when You try to kill a titan mid animation and it won't die te Titan is using the perk "Unstoppable". It seems that a Titan sometimes lives through a Nova Bomb while using its super with that perk. I witnessed it last night. I Nova Bombed a titan mid smash. It killed me and another player in my team but the Titan lived. My Nova Bomb was used when I respawned. Explanation? Either the Titan FoH negates(destroyes) the Nova Bomb or the Nova Boms just didn't register due to lag. It seemed that latency or lag(whatever people want to call it) is a bit of a problem even with the new settings in the net code. Even when everyone has a green bar it feels laggy sometimes and that's not right. I guess if You took a look at my stats You would sigh and say "git gud" or something, but that's just how I feel about last night - I have seen better days in the Crucible. Got to rank 4,5 in two hours only using four green bounties last night - was so close but I had to quit :(

Then they begin to tweak all of the sub classes and by the time we played it it had been neutered. They never adjusted it for the nerfs. They let it go the entire year one as a neutered sub class, then finally buffed it in year two
