A Counter Argument to bring back Sparrow Racing, Old Raids, Old Gear (Only if they make sense?)

Like, and bump if you agree. I'd like this to get noticed because Bungie's reasoning is ridiculous. So the argument for not bringing back the Old raids and sparrow racing according to Bungie was something along the lines of "We want it to make sense with the story of Destiny." So I have quite a few counterarguments for that. [b]1. Sparrow Racing never made sense to begin with. [/b] It was amazing fun, and in my opinion the most balanced thing in the game. However, it had no bearing on TTK at all. So why not just MAKE a reason for it to exist permanently? Who says that it can't just be a way for guardians to wind down and stop killing each other every now and then? Maybe an actual SRL tourney could be held every few months to celebrate the defeat of Oryx, or whatever other raid boss the game wants us to kill. It'd be so easy to just say something like "Guardians are given basic sparrows as a means of transportation. Those who wish to gain the best sparrows must prove themselves on the track." [b]2. The Vault of Glass wasn't a part of the story until House of Wolves[/b] This raid came out in the beginning of the game's life. The only relevance it had with the main story was that it was Vex related. Destiny has had the story reordered once already. It wouldn't hurt to do a bit more and provide a little backstory to the vault with a few side missions leading up to it. Give us like 2 or 3 small missions or even a strike that gives us a reason to know of the Vault's existence. Then just throw on a 300 light version so that we can get "Ascendant" VoG gear on the same level as King's Fall. This would also bring back the Vex Mythoclast, which has been affected by so many fusion rifle nerfs and buffs that it probably wouldn't make a dent in the PvP meta. I could see it getting reworked for year 3. [b]3. Crota's End is so underplayed that most year 2 players don't even know who Oryx's son was.[/b] We've got this backstory about TTK. We know we killed his son and that he's out for vengeance. Yet, you can ask most of the players around who Crota is or how you fight him and no one knows. There's no reason for them to know, because he's not relevant to the game anymore even though the story says otherwise. Add a 300 light version and let us get "Radiant" CE gear on the same level as King's Fall. This would also bring back the Necrochasm which was complained about for underperforming. Yet when Bungie buffed it, they then left it in year 1 not even a month later. [b]4. Old Weapons were brought back with the April Update[/b] This had nothing to do with story. It was just a random "poof" you got some of your old weapons back. And you can only get them from Vanguard or Crucible. Why? How about we work on something significantly cooler and more intuitive and rewarding? Upon leveling up a faction, you get either a Primary, Secondary, or Heavy Voucher. You can use that voucher to purchase any class item or weapon of the category from the vendor. (Dead Orbit would have Exodus Plan, Deviant Gravity, etc for heavy.) Having this system wouldn't be something players could abuse for perfect weapons like Rerolling, but it would still always give you that chance of your perfect weapon or that elusive piece of gear that you could never get your hands on. It would also seem as if the Faction leaders care about your guardian and cater to your playstyle. No one wants a random gift, after all. People would play more and grind more levels, because having a setup that you love seeing and using is always more fun, and there's nothing wrong with working for it so long as it's actually attainable. [b]5. Trials of Osiris has no meaning in the story either[/b] So why do the other crucible modes need to be "relevant" to the game? If guardians are as human as they seem, it would only make sense that they want to relax sometimes. Whether that be through training or racing, who cares? Maybe the citizens of the tower like watching the races... [b]6. What's the point in having days of dead content?[/b] This is my biggest argument. I just can't see a point in having unusable weapons and gear. Let us customize. Let us personify. Don't stifle our creativity by saying "Oh, this gun doesn't work anymore because it's a new year." If you want to make our guns ineffective, how about you bring some logic for that? Why does Icebreaker kill Crota's swordbearers but not the Warpriest? Yet, I can take a no land beyond which uses conventional bullets and take him down. EDIT 1- Tons of support and I am thoroughly surprised. Thanks guys. I didn't know people on this forum could be so respectful. Someone reminded me that the vault was mentioned in passing during The Archive. EDIT 2- I'm all the way amazed at 300+ likes in less than 24 hours. At this rate, Bungie has to at least see it. A few more points to add in as well. [b]7. Omnigul, Archon Priest, and Valus Ta Aurc have no relevance in the current story.[/b] I'm aware that Archon Priest and Valus both have taken variants of their strikes. However, you can find normal non taken versions of the bosses on these strikes. Omnigul was killed in The Dark Below as a part of the story, yet here she is, leading CROTA'S armies. See how this is a problem in terms of logic and consistency? [b]8. Story missions can be replayed on an at light difficulty and in any order. So why not raids?[/b] It just doesn't add up. How can I start off with The Taken King missions at level 25 because I paid 30$ for a boost? My guardian will know nothing of the story or missions that came before. By that logic, every mission in the game should be 25+. Instead, missions are 25+ for TTK and going back before level 40 makes the old ones all a breeze.

Yes I get that but content isn't coming through at any recurring pace. As far as major content drops go we have had the following: 1. Sept 2014 2. Dec 2014 (2 months later) 3. May 2015 (6 months later) 4. Sept 2015 (4 months later) 5. September 2016. (12 months later) 5 major content drops in what will be 24 months. This averages to one every five months. Really they should be making that to once every 4-5 months like clockwork. Festival of the Lost, Crimson Doubles etc should NOT be part of that 4 month cycle they should developed in tandem with major content drops.

    • I agree with most of this. But Osiris is mentioned a lot in the Grimoire, so I do believe the Trials of Osiris have some relevance to the game's story. However, I doubt that it was originally supposed to be a PvP event. I believe the "Trials of Osiris" was supposed a PvE event or series of quests. There used to be an exotic weapon in the database that required you to complete certain tasks in the Trials. Some of the steps were PvP related but some were also PvE related, much like the some of original Exotic bounties in year one (Thorn & Bad Juju). Otherwise this is spot on. There's no real reason not to bump the old Raids up to level 40. Many of year 1 strikes had year 2 versions [b]without[/b] Taken, they were just bumped up to level 40. That didn't fit the story either. And I'm pretty sure the SABER strike was cut from House of Wolves, it doesn't fit the year 2 story at all, but it fits with the House of Wolves story. Plus by leaving the year 1 Raids as they are, they're obsolete in the story anyway. There's no reason to run them for a chance at some level 20 legendary gear that's outclassed by a green item that a Dreg dropped on patrol. There's no incentive for new players to experience such great content. It's really a shame. That's why I agree with your idea of adding a new Questline leading up to those raids, the way we had a Questline leading us up to King's Fall. That way it makes sense in the story.

    • SRL is Amanda organizing something fun for the guardians to do. simple as that, which makes sense. VoG WAS mentioned in vanilla, but was previously mostly unknown. Y2 players missed alot from Y1. more like new versions of old weapons. my zombie apoc is still sitting in my vault. trials is ran by brother vance who operates in the reef, to which we did not have access to until recently. day o dead w/e was a holiday thing, but if you want a lore reason for things being outdated.... poor matinence? some game mechanics make no sense.

      • I like what you said about trials and the story. I think another suggestion would be to take a look at what Titanfall did with their multiplayer and make Trials or another game mode a story option to give more overall depth and breadth to the back story of Destiny.

      • Vault of Glass was briefly mentioned in the story mission: Archive. What Bungie said makes sense to me as the story is moving ever so fast in other directions but from a content point of view, I completely agree with you but they said themselves that they want to focus on quality and I know that sounds a bit cheesy but what they basically said was that they don't want to lazily bump up the light levels on the raids but they would bring them back if another threat of some sorts rose up to make the remake. If it were up to me then I would choose the Vault of Glass Y2 or Y3 version to be a Fallen Siva variety due to them earlier attempting to raid it for it's tech. For Crota's End however I have no clue. The Taken are annoying and we are all tired of the Hive so for that I don't know. Maybe the Vex because they wish to simulate the Hive God's - explanation is in the book of sorrows - and they wish to be as powerful as them.

              while you have magically written a coherent and plausible post, this same argument has been made for just over a year now, and here we are... I feel your pain. this has been very confusing and painful. when I say painful, yes, the grind to get the gear and level it up being made obsolete is akin to slamming my head into a wall to make it snow in the summer because I need a vacation from the heat. that said, the entire world of Destiny should always continue to be and remain relevant to any and all players, no matter when they join the universe, or what activity they might want to do at any given time. being forced to run only endgame content to get the endgame gear so that we can grind to level it up is monotonous, tedious, and will surely kill off the game faster than anything else could. well, except for Bungie not listening to its fans. ever. that is going to kill off Destiny eventually. I am a beta tester/day one player, every day, and even I am beginning to lose hope. can I see were this franchise is heading? not really. do I like the implications of what Destiny could have been, and where it possibly could end up on the chopping block? no.

              • I want my year one cloaks made relevant again that I have stored. These new cloaks sucks and I'm not a fan of only but two or three. Let my outfit my characters the way I want to.
