Is this a good PC build?

So I'm planning on building a PC for the first time and I have a budget of 1500$ I've never built a PC before. Is this a good setup? Monitor: BenQ -RL2455HM
http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-RL2455HM-inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B00CFFFGUM
Mouse: Razor Deathadder Keyboard: Corsair Strafe Mechanical Gaming keyboard
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2494138,00.asp
Specs: Processor: Intel Core i5-6600 Motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sports DDR4 2400 (8GB) Graphics Card: GTX 980 Power Supply: Corsair CX600M 600 watt 80 Plus Bronze Primary Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB Secondary Storage: Western Digital Black 2TB WD2003FZEX CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO I know it's a lot of money for my first PC but I've got no expenses and nothing else to spend my money on anyways. My main concern is that mouse & keyboard as they're currently a bit too expensive for my tastes What's the cheapest good gaming keyboard and monitor I can get?

  • Bro, that's the exact monitor I just bought. It's really good, I highly recommend it.

  • If I'm not mistaken a Z170 board is an overclockable board and you have a locked multiplier on your CPU. Maybe consider a 6600K or a 6700K to get the full potential from your mother board. Other than that I'd honestly wait until CES when Nvidia comes out with their new line of GPUs and get that 980 a little cheaper and invest in an extra 8GB of RAM. Good luck. Cheers!

    • Get that monitor. It's what I've used for 3 years and it works perfectly. You will need to be careful with how you wire your setup though.

      • A solid build. One thing I noticed, you have an i5-6600 and a z170 chipset motherboard. The Z170 means it is an overclocking board, but you don't have a k-skew processor. Either get a k-skew i5 or get an H170 motherboard so you aren't spending extra money for nothing.

      • Also definitely spend more money on a power supply. That one is very inefficient

      • I have the same mouse and keyboard. They're both amazing. But I would wait until the 1080 comes out. Other than that it looks pretty good.

      • Not bad. But a few things. Upgrade that PSU. Its pretty basic and is probably not the best choice for a 980 build. Secondly Im not sure how far ddr4 memory is gonna take you, or if anything really utilizes it yet, but if you can go for more memory with ddr3 for cheaper Id go with that. And if you can go for an i7. The i5 is no slouch but if you have the opportunity to get one I say go for it.

If you have the money, get an i7 that way you won't have to upgrade your cpu for a long time! And it's overall better then an i5

          • 2 grand is WAY overkill for a gaming rig unless you are going ALL out for the 4k quality and recording it at the same time lol. Consider closer to 1000-1200 for a beast PC. I have a Gaming rig I could link you to that I bought if you want, I can run pretty much anything at max and record it at 1080p, 60FPS (Through OBS). Ran Dying Light at max, Battlefield 4, and Shadow of Mordor at the highest settings no issue.

                • Decent build. Not sure about for that price, though. I'd swap out that PSU and go for DDR3.

Do you want to run sli for dual gpu's? I would spring for a 6gig card if so. And for $2000 go for an i7 k series so you can overclock I would also spring for ddr3 ram with at least 12 gigs. ddr4 is a slower ram not very good for gaming.

You don't need to get a new keyboard and mouse unless you don't have any spares, even then you could probably go cheaper. Having special keyboards doesn't really do anything. And you also don't need a monitor if you have a TV with HDMI ports that's not in use. The one you chose doesn't have a resolution too much higher than a lot if TVs, so it wouldn't make a difference anyways. You should also probably learn and hand pick your parts instead taking a build from the internet, it's better to not go in blind. Update: Just looked at the parts and prices. Your build is almost identical to mine, except mine has a better CPU and is $800 cheaper. You should definitely get to know the parts and pick then more carefully. You should use pcpartpicker to help you with the process.
Also $44 for 8 GB 2X of RAM is way to much.
