VR gaming is going to be total niche garbage.
It's just another fad the same way motion control was big with the Wii.
Just like motion control, people will grow tired of it and go right back to normal controller gaming.

PENDING how good the PSVR is. Right now it's marketed as the most comfortable, erganomic VR at an affordable price. Unlike Wii motion control it's something SOME gamers NEED.. but can't afford. If PSVR can deliver a top end VR headset at an affordable price, hell it might convert some of those people saving up for an Oculus.

Motion control worked great. The problem is it doesn't amount to much more than a gaming gimmick. Like the Wii, VR will have a period of popularity. Eventually, the average gamer is going to get burnt out with it and go right back to traditional gaming.

Sitting in the cockpit of a vehicle doesn't amount to a gimmick, it enhances the experience ten fold. VR just doesn't end with gaming either, i think it's going to do just fine.

Well apperantly you'll be able to play regular games on the vr display makeing it seem like youre playing on an imax ultrascreen. And stream movies/videos to it. So it's got more uses than just traditional vr. That will extend its life i believe. Besides, lots of people call it a gimic, but wouldn't that also make the oculous and vive also gimics? The other two vr sets have an even steeper hill to climb.

I'm not singling out any brand of VR. They will all be gimmicky. I'm not saying that it won't have appeal or even be fairly cool. It's just that it seems some are making a big deal over something that will never even compete realistically with normal gaming. I don't want that big-ass thing on my head while gaming.

PSVR is surprisingly comfortable and not obstructive compared to it's competitor's. Ive only tried the oculous abd psvr, and of the two, psvr is way better comfort wise and aesthetics. I can't speak to the vive, however, but judging from the looks of it, I don't see it being more comfortable than the oculous. I'm also not buying either at launch, but i do know ill be picking up psvr eventually down the line when i feel i need to. I also dont think these will be going down as gimics. There is just so much potential and utility for them to be brushed aside like motion and 3d.
