What is weapon master quest for?
As title above.
Friends had it, and apparently it's for the gunsmith, but every time I search anything related to it, it only brings up "weapon master quest not working/glitched/broken"
This here has pissed me off over the fact that I can't get information on finding because so many people complained about it. Thank you, community, you ruined something for everyone.

It's one of the steps that comes towards the end of the big crucible quest that ultimately unlocks the weekly crucible bounties. It requires you to finish 4 matches with 6 kills with an auto rifle, then the same thing for pulse rifle, scout rifle, and hand cannon.

The Weapon Master Quest actually is part of a big Crucible Questline. You were required to complete this and several other Crucis Quests to unlock a final Crucible Quest called "The Mountaintop", which in turn unlocks the Weekly Crucible Bounties that are available at Lord Shaxx. Until today's patch, this quest was bugged and therefore disabled by Bungie so that players could still reach the "The Mountaintop" Quest. The quest has been re enabled and is working again as of the latest patch.
