Bungie, you've made an awful decision
So iron banner came out today. I began playing it, like anyone else. I've played iron banner control and clash. Rift, was an awful choice. You can't play solo. I've played 5 games, lost all of them. All if my other friends left for other games. So I'm forced to play solo. Other teams are coordinated. What's the point of playing it if you can't reap rewards, so far it's a waste of time
Looks like I'm at matchmaking mercy. Alot of people seem to be doing amazing at solo

Its been a mixed bag for me. I lost 11 in a row (Mercy came into effect round 6 times during that span). Then all of a sudden I won round 9 in a row. The crazy part is when I was on a losing streak, I was with a team (all pretty skilled players) and when I was on a winning streak I was solo. Overall I didn't like it mainly because ppl just camp the spark and spawn areas. They really need to take a look at that. Maybe after dunking the rift, the enemy team spawns back in their area or something. Also, I was spawning into matches with teams that already lost far too often. At least with Control, you had a chance to come back.

I play solo all the time in rift. More than teams. If you can't trust the randoms be a spark hog. I've racked up over 10,000 in one match that way. So stop complaining and get better. I think iron rift is awesome and more intense. IB clash was so boring.

I'm guessing you've never played long enough to realize you get rewarded with or with out teams and if you win or lose.

The worst part is that half the matches are decided with a mercy. I'm trying to have fun still, but it only take the other team dunking the spark a couple times to lose in a mercy.

I did well the first day. Then they went to the new matchmaking. Now I just spawn into matches that are being mercied.

6 RepliesA lot of folks are making comments like: "Git gud" and "LFG Bro!". That is all legitimate. I could always hop on an LFG site, wait 5-10 to find a group, maybe a handful of them don't want any newbs with anything less than +5 KD, and half of them are complete assholes because they are the types that are so diehard about the game that they are willing to go to third party sites to find teammates. Some may say, "just play something else if you are getting stomped". Unfortunately, Destiny is a game ENTIRELY centered around character investment. So much so that people won't even play the old raids because the loot isn't going to progress their character. This leads many players like myself to chase the Iron Banner gear and even considering the pitfalls I listed above, we aren't always going to seek out third party services to find decent teams to play with. So we are left playing solo in a game type that DEMANDS teamwork. I don't think IB Rift was a good call, and I too am getting destroyed virtually every game regardless of my efforts to play the objective. I'm sure it's working great for some people, but given the lack of fun activities right now, they should not have selected a game type that will be alienating to their already dwindling player base.

I've leveled to Rank 5, as a solo player, in every previous IB event since the game was released without any complaints, even before we got the "Tempered" buff and the extra XP for second and third characters. I'd knock out the dailies in a couple of matches, the weeklies in a couple more. No more. Since the CBMM and crap Rift scoring system, I've been struggling just to get the dailies completed in a single night. It's WAY more bloody laggy than it ever was for me in the past. 80% of the time, I'm being matched into a game where my team is getting rolled and down almost 7-9K, with zero chance of catching up because we're all being spawn-camped. When I do manage to get on a team and win, they break us up and I restart the cycle of tears all over. Joy. The loot, as usual in year two, is sh*t. Almost always 15-30 points below my current light rank. Yay, more armor/weapon parts. Ugh. I don't raid (time constraints) so IB is my ONLY method of getting gear above 310 but that ain't near happening this time. At least back when we used Etheric Light, I could choose which slot I spent it on, now I'm at the sole mercy of the RNG hoping for a drop that can possibly bump up a low light slot. Sucks. I hope the new CEO is paying attention to the clusterf*ck this game is degenerating into.

2 RepliesSolo Rank 3, close to 4 2 sets of boots 290 and 302 Played 20 or so games. Won a good portion of them. Having a good time. Solo is possible.

I've won 4 of my 5 and I play solo, it's not a bad game mode. I do prefer clash though.

And come the funk on bungle. If u r gonna make ib something diff get of ur lazy dumb asses and change the bounties. Also the respawn shit is garbage. Im always respawning right in the middle of a shitstorm of enemy players. Bungle gas screwed alot of shit up in this game but this is total shit . horrible game mode , nothing but one sided matches, bounties that dont go with the mode, -blam!-in people over puting them in matches that r seconds from being over and absolutely no chance of winning. Total -blam!-in fail again. Oh and the rewards. All ive seen anyone get is boots all way below the persons light. Thats my opinion . garbage

2 Replies" I can't play a team game solo, waaahhhhh" "You're FORCING me to play..." Other teams are coordinated because they took the time to do so. And you aren't forced to do a single thing. You need to look up what forced means. Adapt, get crushed, or don't play. Those are your three options.

Hey man I know the pain and with rift going in solo is pretty daunting, if you're on PS4 shoot me a friend request and we can go in with a full team, share the load a bit.

When I'm solo I get destroyed. Seems like all my team ever does is spawn camp and snipe. No one is actually defending the rift but me.. So annoying. Can't tell you how many times I've seen someone camping the special box when there is still 30-45 seconds till it drops. Like dude... Wtf.

You are not "forced" to play solo. You "choose" to play solo. We have plenty of lfg site to use for just this type of game.

I have been playing solo and have had a blast. Yes, there were games were I got sh*t stopped, but that happens regardless of the game mode in 6 v 6. Either your teammates or awful or everyone is quitting.

My favourite is Control. I think Rift could be fun, but most of my games seem to end with one team having double the points (usually not mine), or I’m dropped into a game with 5 mins left and half the points.

2 RepliesI've played solo across 3 characters, enough to earn the daily bounties for each. I've experienced.... 3 JIPs, 1 of which was a 2 minute win (oddly these were only my first 3 matches) 1 mercy rule, I was on the losing side ~6 matches that were tons of fun Those fireteams of 5/6 I lost against? Likely going to lose against them [b]regardless[/b] of game type. Truthfully so far I think Rift plays much better than expected. It's a focused game type, and it really encourages a team -- [b]all teams[/b] -- to work through teamwork. So far so good for me.
