EDIT: Atari 2600 (1977) is not an option, I'm so sorry, there's no point in doing a poll if you already assume the results. (I had to choose between removing older consoles or last gen, and I assumed there are more kids in here than old school gamers, my bad).
There's no better and more accurate way to understand this community than by our first contact with games.
Tell your story on gaming, if it's a passion or casual leisure.
My first console was Sega Genesis
And the first game: Sonic 2
I had a super nintendo after that and used to play some N64 on my best friend's house, he was the rich one..
I really got into gaming and saw my fav franchises rising or reaching their top on psone and ps2.
I followed the playstation line cause, understand, I got nothing against xbox, but it's strong related to my childhood and the games I grew up playing.
The current console wars is so dumb for me, cause we used to get along just for having an interest in common, we were rare, outsiders, it doesn't matter if your favorite was sony, nintendo, sega or microsoft.

1 ReplySNES was my first system as a child, but most of game memories start with n64 (for which my brother and i saved our allowance for months to afford). Most memorable games from that system were goldeneye and ogre battle 64. Rpgs and shooters remain my favorite genres as a result. Honorable mention to dk64. Another classic!

2 RepliesSnes and Zelda. But you couldn't guess my age based on the console. I'm an avid gamer, been gaming since I was about 3 and have done so ever since. Now that I'm quite older, it just seems to be the only fun thing to do in my small ass town that isn't bowling or movie related.
