Only 3% of the Community even participates in ToO. Bungie fail.

Bungie, according to your "Statistics of the Week", 820,986 people participated in ToO this weekend, and of those, 133,444 made it to The Lighthouse. So, using your (bogus) statistic that 25 million people are playing Destiny, that means that only 3% of the Community even participates in this PvP endgame content. Moreover, less than 1% of the Community enjoy the rewards of Mercury! Do you consider these numbers some kind of success? You shouldn't. What you've created at the expense of the entire Community - given that every minute spent devoted to ToO development and maintenance is time/energy away from the rest of the game - is an endgame activity that a miniscule fraction of the Community even tries. I am interested in hearing other folks' opinions on whether and how ToO could be made more accessible to more people. I have two suggestions that are sure to raise the hackles of the ToO pros: 1. Once you go flawless on a particular character, that character is no longer eligible to compete in ToO until the next weekend. For those of you badass enough to do it, you can take all three of your Guardians to The Lighthouse, you simply can't keep playing on the same character once he/she has been there. 2. Provide optional matchmaking. Perhaps, go so far as to have two separate ToO: pre-made fireteams and matchmade fireteams. Hell, you could even slightly reduce the quality of the rewards in the matchmade Trials league, though this seems unnecessary, given that going flawless would be arguably harder with a matchmade team of randoms. Now, these suggestions will piss-off anyone who already thinks this game caters to casual players - which it really doesn't; a game with this much grind can't be enjoyed casually - but understand that my motivation here is to challenge Bungie to really use these numbers they vomit at us each week, and ask whether what they are doing is working. Ninety-seven percent - that's 24,250,000 players! - don't even step foot in ToO. Successful endgame content, Bungie? I think not.

  • Bump! Players that go flawless during that week shouldn't be able to play ToO till the next reset. Meaning each characters that's gone flawless shouldn't be able to run trials in that week. That way it prevents people from carrying their friend for the hell of it. That's why there's LFG websites for that type of stuff.

      • Part of the problem IMO is lack of reforging. People don't want to go into trials with their PVE equipment when it may not suit their playstyle in PVP.

        • I've never been to the lighthouse but have come close and I actually enjoy the challenge. I wouldn't like to see it easier as the new bountys cater for the less fortunate and good gear still comes from them. The raid isn't easy so why should the pvp side be easy, the rewards are the same if not better to some extent. So I say leave it how it is.

          • More people should participate, but only the top 10% should go flawless Under 1 million is very low

            • My two cents. First, even though they announced it, I seriously doubt they have 25 million players. Why has matchmaking for crucible started taking so long if they have that many. Second, you should be able to go to the lighthouse by just filling out the trials card. In other words, remove the boons and just let us complete a trials card. If we lose three times, get another card.
