Overall K/D is an indicator of how good someones individual skill is - prove me wrong.

In saying that, anyone with a < 1.0 k/d is on an entirely different page. The point I'm making here is your k/d will be a good reflection of your own individual skill in a game which is full of casual PvP players (which is destiny in itself).

  • My personal kd in multiplayer is garbage. I feel like some of that is out of my control though. If you get me in a pve activity though, I'm good. In raids I won't be the dead guy more often then not, I personally know every part and when vault and Croata were big I'd help people through. It's just a number. If you don't play for fun, what's the point.

  • In general, higher k/d players tend to be better than lower k/d players. It is not a measure of skill, yet it is a factor in calculating skill. BUT kills and deaths ratio alone cannot determine true skill, as someone who played for 2 mataches with a 2.6 k/d might not be better than a player with 2000 matches and 1.5 k/d.

  • I completely disagree. K/d is a mathematical average of how many times you die vs kill. It does not indicate how many matches you play. For instance player A that played crucible for a week might have a 3.0 k/d but player B has a 2.8 k/d but plays constantly. It does not mean player A is better, just means they got lucky then preserved their k/d by not playing.

    • I let my little brother and nephew play all the time so my kdr is trash. When I play I always have a positive kdr. I would just not play if I didn't go positive lol. So no kdr is not indicative of skill.

        • I can agree to an extent. It averages out over time. Most of it has to do with the player as an individual, but when your team is doing well it's so much easier to do well. Then the other way around, if your team is being dominated it's pretty hard to deal with groups of people coming at you.

        • Kd is the first flag when looking for skilled players. You're NEVER going to go around and grab the first 0.6 kd player over the 1.5 for a trials run. Yall fùckboys gotta go back to patrol.

        • People could give great call outs and have the best strategy...K/D does prove overall skill by yourself and not based off your team(unless their is one or two games were you just don't pay attention like me and your KD drops).

          • I remember when I was a noob in crucible. I was no match for Felwinter and Thorn. I would get .25 k/d because I was killed so easily. This has stayed with me forever and now I never get lower than a 3.0. I definitely do not think that k/d is a accurate representation of skill.

          • K/D is tricky. It matters, but it's not completely accurate. I like to think of K/D in terms of tiers. < 1 kd is bottom tier, it honestly doesn't matter if you're .1 or .9 kd, dying more often than you kill puts you below every other tier. 1.0 - 1.3 is average, these people do not often go on kill streaks, but they kill as much as they die and I feel like this is where the average PvP player is. 1.3-1.7 is above average these people fluctuate between really good games and really bad games, they are slowly learning the little things that good PvP players do to excel, but they are not consistently able to perform at the highest level 1.7-2.5 these are the top tier players, they know how to perform when they need to and they are able to play consistently, what I've noticed is that people within this K/D tier will usually have a high W/L to accompany their K/D 2.5+ God tier, the best of the best, not much else to say about them, they usually have extremely long amounts of time played and they usually have high stats across the board. The tiers should be true for MOST people, obviously there are exceptions but usually if a player has 5000+ kills, their K/D is a pretty solid indicator of how they usually perform. It's also worth noting that when it comes to the tiers, people who are exceptions to their tier, are usually in a higher tier than their K/D shows. It's very uncommon to find a 2.0 player that consistently plays at the same level as a 1.0 player, but you will frequently find people with a 1.0 who are performing at a 1.5 level. Tl;Dr - K/D is a good indicator of how a player usually performs, not necessarily his skill.

            • 1. KD doesn't mean you are good. Some people always play as a full team togheter, they spawn kill enemy. they tell where are enemy and shit. Some people sit on one point for the whole game, wait for an enemy to come. 2. Win / Losse doesn't mean you are good. Some people always play with a full team, where they mostly don't do shit but since they got a full team, they usually win because everyone play the objective. Unlike when you play alone.

              • Someone who lag switches could have a 5+ kd and no skill. But someone who actually has skill at the game may have only a 1.2 kd because the lag switchers continue to cheat and lower their kd. This pretty much explains that kd really doesn't determine your actual skill.

              • In trials, but some people like to try new weapons in say control. So they will drop kd but just have fun. Look at trials or IB kd to get a better indication. Not just overall or control.

                • I've had games where I went negative but thought I played a huge roll in the victory. Dropping a well placed super on a heavy drop or control zone goes along way.

                  • No its not. I've seen people willing to LOSE the game to preserve their k/d ratio which is infuriating to me. I'm a decent player with am average k/d cause I'm willing to die to get shit done. So many times my teammates are too afraid to rush a room or objective until someone else does. I gladly play bait if that's what it takes. K/d is not the end all be all stat that so many others make it out to be.
