In saying that, anyone with a < 1.0 k/d is on an entirely different page.
The point I'm making here is your k/d will be a good reflection of your own individual skill in a game which is full of casual PvP players (which is destiny in itself).

This thread is still going.. crazy.

2 RepliesThe best of the best don't play destiny.

Sometimes. I started off as a scrub but got gud. Prrof? In y1 game modes my kd was .9. My y2 game mode kd is higher than 1. There should be a way to reset.
-
2 RepliesI have a 1 KD, I think of myself as top 3% I have more NLB kills then Thorn, TLW, and Red Death COMBINED I stay away from the meta, I counter it, I hate pulse rifles with only about 1800 kills with them.

Destiny PvP is a joke

Depends on who you are, and how good you may or may not have been when you started. Example: I started playing destiny a little after the loot cave was patched. Pvp wise, i sucked ass.....badly.... It wasn't until how that i managed to get my k/d to be positive on my titan. Currently my most up to date skill level in pvp can be viewed on my hunter's kd. Since my hunter was made during how, it gave me a good representation of where my skills are. It also gave me an insight on where my weaknesses on my titan playstyle lied. So yea, I'm just starting to really get out of that rut and house of wolves is where i started going positive more consistently. Still not 100% consistent, but im a good 79%

I can confirm KD means nothing. I have a 4.7 KD and a 13.4 WL in GoW3. Am I the best in the world? Far from it. In competitive, KD means nothing. Teamwork/communication>KD Since this game has no in game leaderboard, I refuse to care.

Get a job, hippie.

My overall K/D is 1.05..... My Trials of Osiris K/D is over 1.8.... Gotta go by win %. Could be an amazing team player and an assist master, be the true mvp and have shot K/D.
-
2 Replies1 of the 6 players can get a 0.01 k/d and capture 10 control points Those other 5 players aren't better than him, he essentially is earning half of their kills everytime they get extra control points. A K/D higher than about 1.9 shows that the person either 1. Snipes 2. Meta user Either way, not enjoyable to play with over extended periods of time. I mean, remember Thorn and Felwinter?

1 ReplyEdited by Jeff the Cabal: 11/13/2015 2:45:50 AMK/d is only a factor. Your w/l, your assists, control captures, lifespans, precision shots, combat ratings, objectives captured, offensive/defensive kills, average game scores, longest kill streaks, how well you use other weapons, even orbs created all together shows your real representation of how good you are. It's like car. Having the worlds best tires on a car doesn't make the entire car "good", it makes your tires good.

I disagree. My hunter k/d dropped dramatically because I was awful when I first started crucible. Now I'm a pretty good player (usually in top 3) but because my k/d was so low it's hard to bring it back up
-
4 RepliesThis was my first real fps, so when I started, I sucked. Now look at my recent games.
-
1 ReplyWhat about people like me who share a character with a younger sibling, who I have never seen go above .5 in crucible
-
Eh.....my stats are trash because I run solo and mess around most of the time but if I were to take it seriously and maybe run with a team....I'd probs have over 2.0 kd
-
I play Pvp seriously, then sometimes I dont. Nuff said...

Edited by SCI 22: 11/12/2015 12:17:51 PMMy K/D is like a trashy 0.70/0.75 or something yet I can't say I'm bad at PVP. I have to say it's bad because either: I just enjoy messing around in PVP way to much, Or because Destiny was one of the first games I played PVP in on Xbox and I was shit when I started. Lol

3 RepliesK/D is between 1 and 2 is effective at being aggressive (Charge in). K/D over 2 is effective at being conservative (Puts at much space between them and other players as possible). K/D < 1 not as effective/needs to try a new play style. Honestly, K/D only shows off your play style once it's over 1. People who camp, use the meta, snipe, prefer long distance fights, etc. probably have a higher K/D People who charge in guns blazing put themselves more at risk and have a lower K/D (I can't do ranged fights, I hate them. Feel cheated if I lose a ranged fight, especially if I'm shooting first). People who don't use the meta but play with their favorites will (usually) have a lower K/D, unless their favorites are the current meta. I play with my favorites. Auto rifle, shotgun, and I'm still looking for a good LMG. Quillim's Terminus won't drop, so can't use it =P. I also charge into the fray. My only goal, besides winning a game (which is largely based on teamwork too), is to just stay over 1.0 K/D. If I play conservatively, my K/D drops. If I play aggressive and 'in your face', I do far better. But it takes me time to get to the point where it works for me because I don't like PvP and don't play it often. So is K/D an indicator of skill? Not really. Just shows who's good at being aggressive, or who's good at being conservative.
-
2 RepliesI disagree because the k/d doesn't reset at any point. I used to be absolute garbage, but even though I do much better now and often get the highest score in games my k/d is still barely positive.
-
5 RepliesLol look at my KD. I will wreck most people too. :) This game has too many side objectives to be serious about raid. I had a 3.0 KD in COD death match . Your sole objective is to kill others mostly. KD means much less here. If you are greater than 1.75 you probably are decent. Anything else is the great unknown.

Yes and no. Yes, because if someone has an overall k/D above 1.0 he is likely to at least trade as opposed to just feed a kill to the other team No, because most of us have done things that dragged our k/D down so that we could complete bounties, quests, or just have fun with guns we aren't necessarily the best with.

1 ReplyEdited by Savage: 11/11/2015 1:42:56 AMKd is less a reflection of skill and more of a reflection on the influence you will have on the success of your team. Someone with a positive kd will likely have a positive influence on the teams success because they will be eliminating more enemy targets than dying. This can indicate that someone is just a good overall slayer but does not indicate whether they can hold down a position in control or protect a runner in rift. Essentially the higher the kd, the more likely the person will positively effect the outcome of the game. Another stat to consider is also assists, because someone who has a high kda but not so high kd will still likely have a positive influence in the game.

Depends on type (pvp/pve) and game mode
-
In destiny it's probably a better indicator than old CoD since most of the popular competitive modes count kills as points, even the objective based ones. That being said, K/D can be higher on players who are less aggressive than a more skilled player. That being said, the bigger the gap, the greater the chances that someone is indeed more "skilled"
