so what you are saying is angry joe called them out for being a typical game company. and so what? you people act as bungie is the first company to do things like this. guess what, they're not. time to move past it. this is so old the dinosaurs are sick of it. if you don't like it no one is forcing you to stay and play, let alone pay for DLC.

So, let me put some logic into this, since OP clearly has forgotten to do this. Yes, the Vanilla Destiny seemed like a shell of a story. I am not denying this, it's true. But Bungie has been saying from the very beginning that this is supposed to be a 10 year project. If they threw all their theoretical eggs in one basket in the original story, what kind of story would they have left to add on to expand that. In order to be able to make this the long term game that it is supposed to be, they have to release the entire story slowly over time. Of course they already came up with the whole story. You don't start writing a novel without the whole general story already thought up. From there they had to decide how they wanted to break up the story, and when they wanted to release each part. If you are really worried about Destiny being a shell, and Bungie holding content, then wait nine more years for the final part of Destiny to be released. Then pick yourself up a copy and see the whole story all at once. But of course you'll miss out on nine years of great fun with an awesome co-op game. Bob MF Palmer

1st of all Activision made them revise the entire game just a year before launch and if you were unaware that is a big deal when you've been working on the game for literally YEARS. 2ndly I'd like to address the fact that you call people "weak minded" and the ones throwing insults around are usually the ones weak of mind. Lastly to all who are STILL complaining about how much they have spent just to have the content be sold for cheaper or even including it in the Taken King please leave, as much as you'd like to deny it for one reason or another this is a game that at its base has an mmo design behind it. Now what that means it there will be expansions you will have to buy and in turn the previous one will drop in price or be included in the newest one to give players that haven't played it before, are returning, or otherwise the incentive to play it. Conclusion: some things may have been planned into the game but fully complete in background data after a total revamp is highly unlikely. If you like to blame someone don't blame the developer it was their publisher Activision that is to blame for a last minute redesign.

I don't remember a lot of ppl defending it but it was pretty obvious when Joseph Statin left Bungie 1 year before release that things were gunna change and not for the better. Same with the Marty odeonnel situation.

You're acting like $60 and $120 is a lot of money these days ... Let's do another breakdown... Cost of Destiny $120 total Ok now let's factor in some numbers of other things you'd be spending money on if you didn't get destiny to sink your time into. Average cost of a drink at a bar $2-3 ^average tab $20-50 + Cost of other games you'd have bought to take up your time $60 each Cost of a movie ticket $10-15 + snacks $20-25 total FNM at local comic shop $10-30 Cost of WoW + expacs $300 ^ monthly fee $10 x ?? Cost of dead end dinner dates $40-100+ Cost of gas per gallon, that you'd be spending if you weren't at home on destiny $2-3 / gallon Ok w.e that's just a few numbers and I know people still go to the bar and play destiny but not nearly as much as they used to correct ?? I know I don't, How many other games would you have bought instead of destiny to take up your time ? 3 4 5 ??? Just think about how much money you've saved by buying destiny rather than the $120 it cost you ... This game has probably saved me THOUSANDS of $ in bar tabs , gas and not buying other games ... So let that sink in for a bit before you listen to some tight ass talk about the cost of destiny ... edit: and if that doesn't compute through your brain , on average how many hours of enjoyment do you get out of other games at $60 ... 40-50 ? 100-200 ?? ... Ok destiny ? 75% of the destiny community has over 1000 hours logged ... That's 5-10x more than your other generic games you'd have bought ... So don't go telling me or others that destiny costs too much for what you get ... Shame on you .. Especially if you're someone who's bought every WoW expansion + the monthly fee to even play ... Or any other game with expansions for that matter ...

Aiming at the wrong targets IMHO. If you like playing the game ( I do ) then great. No ones held a hand cannon to you and robbed the money out your wallet. This is a story of software Hubris. You make a thing and people say it's good (Halo), you think you can make better and bag $500m funding. That buys you a lot of talent hours. You run for three years and decide it's all gone Pete Tong?? That is dreadful, woeful project management. The people who should have gone were not the writers, but the top echelons of management. They should have given better direction and oversight. I've worked in software for 25 years, large and small teams, so I know how to deliver something you want people to buy. You do not, in any way, go for three years without checking. Sheesh, in Agile projects you don't go a month without checking your on the right path, big reviews every quarter. The micro transactions to support a 'live team' is just a sign of something super wrong. You build that cost into the funding, unless you have burnt all your dough already and are seriously compromised. And that's $500m that's been misspent. You rent some offices, buy some PC's and pay your staff $75k a year? Where's it all gone? Maybe that 500 figure is made up, because I can't see where it's gone. The problem ain't the game story.. It's the Bungie story. I love the game environment gfx, guns, team play.. they have defined a genre. But I would have stuck with the story they had, the cut scenes, maybe spent some time adding more story to explain any confusing bits.. The very last thing I care about in Destiny is the 'grind more' cards. Don't read em, could not give a dingos testes for them. I want my story telling in game. Call me old fashioned...
