So, I recently just found out you can legitimately USE motes of light to upgrade everything you're wearing.
> Put on all gear/weapons/ghosts /artifacts that need upgrading
> Go to motes of light in inventory
> Hold action button to use
> Your gear/weapons/ghosts/artifacts upgrades go up, because you gave it exp
*** YOU CAN ALSO USE TELEMETRIES TO DOUBLE THE EXP
*** UPGRADING WITH MOTES WAS NOT IN YEAR ONE DON'T FREAK
*** ALSO IF YOU'RE USING A BOND, CLOAK, OR MARK WITH A PERK FOR INCREASING UPGRADE RATES FOR GUNS, IT STACKS ON TOP OF THE TELEMETRY AND MOTE OF LIGHT
This isn't about motes, but it's related to upgrades. Say you have a legendary piece of armor, but nothing to infuse it with. Say you just got a blue at 299 on a different character. You CAN take that armor piece and use it for infusion on your legendary armor, even though you can't wear the armor yourself since you're a different class.
Also, in case all the trolls need to know: there was a lot of people other than me who DIDN'T know when the update came out. You can promptly get off your horse and be on the same level as the rest of us. You're nothing special just because you knew when it came out. Good for you??

5 RepliesJust to note it doesn't seem to work well on exotics I noticed
-
1 ReplyI didn't know this so thanks
-
2 RepliesEveryone knows that. But, did you know that words really can hurt you?
-
1 ReplySee this is why I patrol the forums, I never knew this at all, cheers dude!!
-
2 RepliesSo if I use a telemetry then the motes of light exp is doubled?
-
One addition. You get much less XP for gear than weapons.
-
1 ReplyHad no idea...thank you!
-
I did not know about telemetrys that's good cause I have a lot of old ones, will definitely do this in the future.
-
2 RepliesAwesome! thanks for the info. another tid bit of "it was in the notes blah blah blah you should know this" that I learned from the forums and may be useful to some new players is that Destiny actually has a cover system. if you crouch in front of something you can just pull the trigger to aim and you will pop up automatically and can shoot and then drop back down without having to crouch up and down. not really that useful, but it does exist.
-
2 RepliesI also read on the forum you can use motes to level up blue engrams and then dismantle those blues...resulting in more motes then you used.
-
3 RepliesSeriously ! Telemetry doubles xp ? Wow
-
1 ReplyI sid read about it, but I always thought it would be a vendor option rather than a basic exp consumable. Thanks for the info

Telemetry + motes of light are awesome for lvling any weapon. Love it with exotics, only about 20ish motes I believe to max.
-
2 RepliesI read all the updates and I didn't even know this until today. Well, I guess I know what I'm going to with my 500+ motes when I get home.
-
Also add that you can infuse high level hunter gear into low level legendary titan gear (with any of the classes, just an example). I found this out really late and it cut the time to level my titan into 1/4.
-
I found that out alittle bit ago, very useful! Makes your feel dumb when you find out hahaha

5 RepliesEdited by jmccableguy: 10/5/2015 3:40:11 PMDon't feel bad I have been playing since day one and just found out you can change the weapon on your back when in the tower. Edit. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who didn't know. My clan mates were making fun of me.

Just remembered this yesterday, helps with how slow everything upgrades.
-
Did not know this. Ta muchly.
-
I didn't know this until last week when I noticed the use function when looking at my motes
-
Cloak, bonds and marks count as telemetry so you can use them to complete the weapon quests banshee gives you to unlock the class specific weapons.
-
3 RepliesI don't see how ignorance of a video game mechanic makes you dumb. Don't worry about anyone saying, "Oh it was in this one source, notes, etc. so you should be ashamed of yourself". You found some stuff out, that's awesome. I bet it was a lot more satisfying figuring it out on your own than just reading it somewhere.

1 ReplyI honestly did not know this. I have several hundred Motes of light that will be used tonight when I get home. Thanks for sharing!

7 RepliesI knew, I've not been able to get back passed 300 motes because I keep upgrading things. I had over 2000 before The Taken King and since then with ranking up factions and upgrading weapons it's hard to get back to that number
