I haven't played destiny in a while I stopped playing when house of wolves was released because I just moved onto another game for a while, and re downloaded it two days before taken king was released and I found it was a lot better and interesting with some changes and found out all my gear is year one gear... And what once was the best in the game was the worst.... Then the big taken king DLC was dropped and for a while nothing much botherd me until I got a legendary which for some reason is a treat considering my luck sucks... Anyway I got the engram and decrypted it, I was happy until I saw you had to be level 40 so I was annoyed slightly then I look at the crypt arch can't buy anything until level 40.... The gunsmith same thing.... Dead orbit same thing.... Then I saw that crucilbe was the same( taken king required) all the strikes are DLC??? Why is this? I appreciate that yes DLC players do deserve something for them paying but this is rediculous I cannot do anything at all... I can't get new armour unless it's green,, or weapons I can't play any strikes or the VOG has long been forgotten??? The game doesn't functuon unless you fork out another £50 to re buy the game essentially? I don't have the money to spent that on just a DLC!! I'm not botherd about the new raid I understand that and some armour does require a new level but at least make it so non DLC players can buy things and get armour that is the same a DLC armour even its just a few exotics? Why does bungie want us to pay the same price as we bought the game for a few missions and a raid! And for these who don't buy it are left behind, but are still taunted when the decrypt a legendary and can't use it? I really want to carry on playing destiny but the only thing there is, is 6v6 Classic and free for all Cmon bungie

Its not a dlc. Its a new game basically. Its a new threat who wants to wipe us all out.
-
It's more than a dlc. It's worth it. Lots of new content. Just go give some handies in the park you'll have the cash in no time
-
Buy the dlc.
-
This is how the genre works, kid. Move forward with the game or play something else. It's really that simple.

4 RepliesEdited by Orig1nal Twist: 9/27/2015 10:07:18 PMStop... If you can't efford to be a gamer then don't be one. Gaming costs money. If you can spend $400-$500 on a console and $100 for destiny + the first 2 dicks then you should be able to afford a $40 dlc... Or whatever it is in your country... Just stop.
-
What's the point of even playing the game if you can't progress in it?? Either spend the money for the dlc or stop playing it. That easy.
-
Well think about it, imagine not buying TDB or HOW it would have been the same you would be in the same dilemma. Everyone complains about how Taken King makes players who didn't buy the DLC useless. It's just that missing TTK is like skipping HOW and TDB.
-
1 ReplyIt's actually $40 for just the TTk
-
I don't have it too I an getting TTK in 6 days but its $70 in Australia for the dlc while the game TDB HoW and TTK is $100 here too... I like classic 6v6 for now but disappointed with activiSions marketing techniques they are smart but slack
-
You are at a disadvantage cause you haven't paid for anything
-
It's called a subscription fee, Almost every mmo has one

That, my friend, is because of a term known as "planned obsolescence". You see, they fooled everyone into thinking that you could choose wether or not to "opt-in" to the new (disk locked, most likely, at least up until TTK) content and still be able to play the same game, but in actuality they want the older content to become obsolete in order to make people buy newer content, regardless of the quality. I could spend literally hours drawing this out and would be very complicated and very impressive and all that, but neither of us want to go through that so I'll make this as short as possible. Basically. Bungie and Activi$ion gave us the pleasure, nay the privilege, the absolute joy, of playing their $100 (at minimum, mind you, I'm not counting the cost of their "colectors edition") beta, while they used your feedback to make an actual game, see all the 9/10 reviews for TTK? It's because it was so much less, well awful, than the release (which received 6/10 ratings). It's a classic business trick, quite literally it is straight out of the book, the college textbooks to which I am referring to btw are also culprits of this very same "planned obsolescence" business model, fun fact.

Because they failed to keep up to date and current. Like when I thought that computers where a fad. Omg can't find typewriter ink tape anywhere

2 RepliesYou can still get to level 34 running VoG, CE and PoE. You still have the Legacy Strikes and Crucible. You can buy Legacy Engrams. That's about it. But you don't need to get a higher level than 34 since you don't have access to the new content. Unless of course you like Iron Banner and Trials.

2 RepliesEdited by PainsImmunity: 9/27/2015 3:18:56 PMbecause Activision is super greedy and did a super aggressive marketing move, and also because they tend to be forgotten in the shadows and would rather watch bungie take 99% of the Flak for everything they tell them to do
-
16 RepliesThe business model is reasonably transparent. Activision wants to turn $60 once a year customers into $120 a year customers. They've chosen to accomplish this by making Destiny largely unplayable if you don't stay up to date with the DLC. Don't buy the 'Welcome to MMO' excuse, either. MMOs don't straight up remove functionality and your ability to access old content when they release new expansions. But what did you expect by getting into bed with an Activision-published game?

1 ReplyWhat I did was buy the collectors edition, keep dlcs, emotes, and physical merchandise, and selling it on eBay for 50$. No "collector" would want to miss a steel book case for less than real price. And I end up getting 50$ of stuff for 30$. :) I'm was honest about what was in it though.

1 ReplyIt's more than a few trust me brother by the dlc - just have fun with the house of wolves after buy the dlc

6 RepliesDestiny is for rich people
-
3 RepliesYou can get legendaries you just have to play the year one legacy strikes, or any other year one content. A level 40 gun would be a taken king weapon, I didn't even know you could get those to drop without the dlc.

Greed is the root of all evil.

3 RepliesYknow the one thing i started to realize when i read your post? I really miss paragraphs
-
What if they released a new game called Destiny 2 for $60? Would you have bought it then? Because that's essentially what happened. You don't see game companies keeping their old games up to date. Keep up or play something new. You are bored of VoG? Not their problem. It's what you played for, they don't owe you a single thing besides what you have.
-
2 RepliesWall of text, didn't read. Bungie doesn't want poors leaching off their servers
-
8 RepliesWow £50? When did the price go up?
