The title says it all. Why is this community getting hyped up about being able to use auto rifles again?. ARs are easy to use and can and will be spammed from any range. They said they are nerfing range and increasing recoil but only to a small degree so that may or may not help, but I'm worried that people will continue to abuse suros like a scout rifle like they did before.
Edit: This isn't a post complaining about autos, it is primarily an open question to the community on why they want autos buffed, and also part my opinion on it.
Edit 2: People keep saying "clearly you didn't play in the beginning or you would know..." let me clarify this, I have play since the beta and played crucible when suros and other ARs were king.

Normally I'd be hoping to avoid a new meta and actually have some variety in the crucible, to which I have some hope with this update. At this point, I'm just sick to death of handcannons and want to have different matches then the current HC/Blink/Shotgun ones. Even if a new meta takes hold, IE auto rifles again, it'll at least be fun for a little while before that gets old too.

1 ReplyIn the original first few months of destiny, auto rifles were the McShizzle, you 3-4 shotted people, Suros is all you saw in the crucible and was the most OP gun in the game, great for nightfalls, strikes etc. That time may once again come to us...
-
Auto Rifles used to be king of the crucible. Then they got nerfed. Now they are useless. After the update they will be good again.
-
They are pretty much useless. Suros is good in a couple situations so... Suros will be like today's messenger after the buff.
-
I kinda tear up ground when i use hard light right now... And its not even buffed.. I wanna use it in the important situations.. Not just for fun
-
Because not everyone plays pvp. There is a pve part of the game. The only changes that needed to be made to weapons in pve was increased shotgun damage. The cry for nerfs has hurt many weapons especially autorifled. Instead of turning autorifles into submachine guns, they should have added submachine guns.
-
It'll give players other choices to use instead of just using two hand cannons or a pulse rifle. It brings back variety

Edited by The_Moustache: 9/7/2015 5:18:17 PMPeople like ARs, but they were hit pretty hard with the nerf bat. People just want to use their favorite weapons without feeling like they're handicapping themselves.

24 RepliesEdited by Afawafa: 9/7/2015 10:28:42 PMI can't believe how absurd it is that people are complaining about the problem of auto rifles being underused when scouts have been the least used weapon ever. Excluding sidearms since they came out only in HoW, throughout Destiny's entire life, scouts have been the least used weapon type at EVERY SINGLE POINT IN TIME. They're used less than -blam!-ing HEAVY weapons. But no, let's just ignore the elephant in the room that's been sitting there since launch and pretend that autos and fusions are the only underused weapons. Edit: FFS why is everyone in denial? Does scout rifles having less than 3% of all pvp kills not bother anyone at all?
-
Suros is actually ok still, it does like 31 or 33 damage for headshot when ADS, it just fires real slow
-
Still be using NLB :))
-
Couldn't agree any more, ARs suck
-
8 RepliesThese dumb fukks think that Thorn was a magic gun and that after the update all will be well in crucible. News flash: If you suck, you suck. If you're average, you're gonna do average. If you're a PvP beast, you're still gonna kill it.
-
Because between the AR buff, the HC nerf, and the fact that Pulse Rifles are popping up as a very viable PvP option, there will be new tools for countering the Thorn/TLW saga that has plagued PvP in Destiny for so long, bringing on a thing called "balance". Maybe now we won't see 10 out of 12 people using Thorn in Iron Banner anymore. Maybe things will finally get just a bit more fun and interesting, rather than an ass-kicking fiesta by whomever can best use the most broken weapons in the game. That's why I'm excited anyway, can't speak for everyone.

its easy thorn = 3 fun per second necrochasm = 15 fun per second
-
Because they're useless

5 RepliesVanquisher 8.... Nuff said.

3 RepliesI see you were never around for the King Suros era lol. Auto rifles were great back then and will be great again. One of the biggest things was that auto rifles were so good in PvE activities, but after the nerf they became shit in PvE. Now that they are getting buffed again they will be good for PvE again. In PvP auto rifles will be good at the intended ranges again. This entire 2.0 weapon tuning will create a more balanced playing field where people can use their favorite weapon choices instead of being forced to use 1 or 2 weapons because they are broken and OP.
-
Because -blam!- handcannons thats why
-
I've been using scouts and HCSand Pulse Rifles for months now I miss my auto rifles

I'm excited for the necrochasm, it's an insanely cool gun, has a super cool perk, it's one of the only two exotic primaries with an element, and it probably would've been my favorite gun... Too bad it only wants to have tickle fights.
-
3 RepliesClearly you are complaining because you're "worried" about people "abusing" the SUROS Regime again. No one abused shit last time. The SUROS is a fantastic weapon, why shouldn't people use it? Or other auto rifles for that matter. Shadow Price was just as beast as SUROS. I take it you've spent the last year complaining about the Blink/Shotgun combo, or Thorn, or the people who bought *insert exotic*, or the original loot cave, cheering Atheon, etc. Just play the -blam!-ing game and quit being so uptight about how others play the game. I didn't spend $100 on the original collector's edition so I could Destiny your way. I spent $100 on the original collector's edition so I could play Destiny MY way. Auto Rifles need this buff. Too many of them have large magazines and low impact.

Because we've been starved for on autorifles for a long time
