In a recent interview with gamespot at pax, Luke Smith didn't know the answer to this question which in itself is perplexing.... Anyone have the answer??
EDIT 1: Still no definite answer... Bungie care to respond?? PLEASE BUMP SO WE CAN BE HEARD!
EDIT 2: so far we know FORSURE
1. LIGHT LEVEL
2. *nothing confirmed*
Edit 3: STAT VALUES - I think this is it!
Example 1- my warlocks best stats = 585
Iron bread hood / intellect +67
Discipline +59
Claws of Ahamkara / dis +58
Strgth +68
Dead light wrap / Intel +85
Dis +89
Deathsingers herold / dis +159
Add those stats up and you will get a number. The higher the number the more stat value you have.... Highest gets to hold flag is all same light level .... Please tell me if this makes sense.... I have tested it and it works!

2 RepliesI think it's first level of the character, and then grimoire score to settle the ties.
-
2 RepliesI've been watching this all IB, and I'm 90% sure it's the lowest k/d from the previous game or if someone joins, it's the lowest base k/d of all players. That why when I join, I usually have the flag, but don't hold it again till I have a really bad match. (My base k/d is shit compared to my clan mates)
-
Hours played?!? Maybe...
-
It is definitely highest level, then in a tie, something else is used.
-
I would like to know this as well. As some of the replies have mentioned it could be tied into recent match performance. I've notice when I'm on a tear I hold the flag, and not when I've lost the groove.
-
Maybe
-
Highest level then grimoire and possibly your weapon quality's
-
I think its highest level then random
-
Level I think
-
Alphabetical order was always what I thought.
-
14 RepliesIt's highest light level. If most people have 34 for example. It's pulled by the best overall K/D.
-
I'd like to know cause I pretty much hold it all the time.
-
I have played with friends of the same level whose grimore scores are significantly higher than mine, but I always hold the flag.
-
I dunno but I almost always hold the flag when the game starts - like 80% of the time I swear ... I often wonder if everyone's screen showed their own guardian holding the flag ? Then there are ppl that " never" get to hold it ... I dunno man I wonder what you wonder
-
2 RepliesThe flag is issued to the guardian with the least amount of skill. If you know how to play you can keep your gun, but if you suck at pvp carry the flag or something.
-
3 RepliesIt's level, but if there are multiple of a level I'm pretty sure it goes off grimoire score or is just randomly selected.
-
Based off of level but I'm not sure what determines it when everyone's max level.
-
8 RepliesI always thought it was connection host of the game. ~TheGreatNike
-
I thought it was who was host of the game

Edited by hexxem: 8/31/2015 7:47:22 PMIt's light level - then it's RNG. It has nothing to do with Grim, Medal Score, True Skill, or K/D otherwise I'd be rocking that flag 90% of the time. ~ Vykings

1 ReplyBetter question ... Who gives a -blam!- who holds it
-
It's highest level. After that, beats the hell outta me what they use.
-
I'm pretty sure it's your skill level in that game type that determines it. Live seen that pattern as a pretty accurate one

2 RepliesGood question. Maybe it's crucible rank?
