Personally, I think this would be a great way to introduce microtransactions into the game. Have an exotic you want brought forward into Year 2? For the low price of $2.99, you can purchase a Redbull™ Exotic Booster and optimize your gameplay by how you want to play! No more being restricted by having guns left in the dust.
Gjallarhorn and Hardlight, here I come!
Edit: I'm going to get a lot of hate for endorsing microtransactions, so here is my reasoning:
Microtransactions would reduce the prices of DLC, not to mention the fact that the revenue would go to better storytelling and mechanic implementation. In addition, the revenue generated would also go towards server maintenance and care, so that we would get kicked less often. Microtransactions are an invaluable part of the gaming industry.
Edit 2: For The Idiots
Those who wish to utilize microtransactions should do so. For those of you who don't want to use them? Guess what? You don't have to use them.

Micro transactions can ruin a game fast. It starts as buying a weapon, and next thing you know you can buy top level gear. Micro transactions effect everyone, not just the people buying them.
-
I doubt it would make dlc cheaper, this is Activision we're talking about. I would only be okay with it if was available in the game too.

3 RepliesWhy would you encourage having to pay for content?

9 RepliesEdited by Joyaboi: 8/27/2015 10:57:57 PMIt is announced all Y1 exotics will be brought up to y2 standards over time. So this horrible idea can die now edited with link

Look at it from a gaming perspective, do you want to pay to win? Do you think it's fair when teams pay referees? Same principle, your paying for an advantage over others. The problem with your idea is, people will sink more and more money into the game and Bungie/Activision will keep DLC costs as is cuz they would know how much their customers are paying for the Micro-Transaction. Just play the Game and who cares if some exotics are being left behind, who wants to use a year 1 weapon that won't be useful in year 10?

No just no. If they ever did anything like this that would be the point I'd be done.

No wats wrong with u wanting to introduce micro transaction, y so u culd just go buy all the shit u want without working for it??

There are larger holes in your logic than that iceberg put in the titanic (I had another thought, but it was NSFW, so I left that one out). The naivety about how the revenue would be spent is the cherry on the cake.

Microtransactions are an utter waste. If I spend £40 on a game, I don't want to have to spend additional money to get the most out of the game.

1 ReplyDumbest idea ever

Sorry to break it to you but microtransactions will in no way reduce DLC costs. If anything they will consider making the DLCs cost more.
-
1 ReplyNah. Sorry. It ain't that good of a weapon and for all we know there will be a yr2 heavy that's better than the gally
-
So we don't get any year one weapons? I'm confused
-
-blam!- microtransactions there I did I swore in this forum
-
Easy there Satan.

For everyone saying how bad micro transactions are, you're dumb. Most micro transactions are fine. The problem becomes when they are in a multiplayer game and more than cosmetics. It creates divides in the game. But if they wanna do it for shaders which they kinda already did, or ghost shells it won't be a big deal. But should they do it for weapons or real stat based armor the game will be over faster than a horse race.

NOOOO NO NO NO

Nah- I like it when people who play less than me have less stuff than I do. Micro transactions for anything other than cosmetic gear add a stigma to games that feature them.

If bungie did this, I'd be out
