When vex mythoclast is clearly better in pvp.
I played iron banner yesterday, and was using thorn. Not only was I frequently killed by a mythoclast, but when I switched to my mythoclast, I killed a ton of thorn users.
I'll never understand how this works

1 ReplyBecause it doesnt require much knowhow to use, id really rather be outgunned by last word (most dont fire from hip anyway) than die by thorn. Its like seeing your grandma naked, it kills you long after the event happens

According to a YouTuber named Drift0r, the definition of over-powered is a weapon that outclasses other guns in almost every or every situation Thorn does outclass basically every other weapon It's useful at close range because it's a handcannon; if you get two body shots and a melee or one headshot and a melee, the enemy will die; in a gunfight between the two closer-ranged weapons, thorn will always beat an auto-rifle, therefore outclassing them It's useful at medium ranges because it has very good target acquisition (meaning it's easy to get head shots with) and two headshots will kill; the most used medium ranged rifle is the Red Death, which requires six headshots to kill instead of the 2 from Thorn; furthermore, thorn's DoT almost always counteracts health regen given by a successful Red Death user, blade dancer, etc. It's useful at long ranges because of the insane range it has; there is hardly any drop off for Thorn's range and it continues to have good target acquisition; I mostly use MIDA Multi-tool in Iron Banner currently and on multiple occasions I will be in a 75-100m gunfight with thorn, and thorn will win because it simply has a faster TTK at all ranges Furthermore, thorn has excellent stability and excellent range, both of which contribute to it being OP; even TLW has shit handling which makes it a challenge to get consistent head shots with Lastly, DoT, or damage over time, continues to damage a disengaged enemy, preventing their health regen to kick in, especially when there's enemies all around On a subjective level, Thorn makes your screen green, causes the victim to flinch a lot, and makes an extremely intimidating sound. All of these factors in my opinion make it extremely hard to counter

2 RepliesI will tell you how it works. Step 1. Die to a thorn user. Step 2. Start crying foul after you repeatedly get killed by said thorn user. Step 3. Use your pea sized brain to figure that since you are clearly better than them, thorn is giving the advantage. Step 4. Cry on the forums for a nerf. Basically, you can substitute the word thorn for any other weapon that has been nerfed. While handcannons are a tier above the rest, which is the problem, they are not unbeatable. Stop crying for nerfs, start buffing the autos back to where they were and we wouldnt have this issue. And the people that were crying for nerfs back then and now, will always complain about some weapon being OP. The reason for it is not cause of the weapons, but the user him/herself.

I've noticed, through experience, that most of the people that ask for a thorn nerf are the ones that run into battle, get outgunned, then try to run away. They are mad that this weapon has single handedly stolen what makes them somewhat good; running. If you are good, every weapon has a counter.

13 RepliesThorn is an annoying weapon that forces you to change your play style to deal with it. The Mythoclast isn't. Thorn does a portion of its damage over time rather than delivering it all at once like the Mythoclast. So people can kill someone with Thorn, and convince themselves that they won the fight only to be "unfairly" killed afterwards by the burn. Not realizing that any other HC would have simply killed them right away. Lastly FPS gamers like to assign blame for their poor play rather than accept responsibility for it.

Attention seekers. Between the range and rate of fire, the vex is dominant. Takes thorners down easy. And even last worders and hawkers
-
My only peeve with it is when im sniping and someone crossmaps me with it somehow. Other than that,I normally take them out before they get too close
-
1 ReplyShut up. Thorn is op, but leave vex alone before they nerf it.
-
2 RepliesEnemy shoots me with thorn. Enemy hides and let's burn kill me.
-
2 RepliesWhat the hell do you mean "you people"?
-
1 ReplyShhh, don't bring attention to the vex.
-
1 ReplyQuiet! You're gonna get something nerfed! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
Cause people get butthurt real easy
-
1 Replyred death>vex mythoclast
-
1 ReplyThat green screen thing is annoying.
-
Me HULK, me smash, me use Thorn
-
1 ReplyThorn does ABNOXIOS after damage and makes your screen green
-
Agreed. I use thorn until I finish the headshot bounty then go to vex
-
2 RepliesI just get annoyed by the burn. It jacks up my screen, cancels red death healing, and brings down my shield with one body shot. Thorn users can be beat though.
-
Because they dont have one, i complained about it then i finally got the bounty and got my hands on it and i dont think its OP after using it
-
It is annoying no reason to nerf it though.
-
i tried both and found im better with thorn. thorn is like 2 headshots and you win lol. plus the burn is great

8 RepliesMax stability, 3 shots and a ability to not be an epic failure is what it takes to kill anyone with only body shots. Combine that with the large amount of ammo and high RoF, this thing will almost definitely be getting a nerf with it being a crucible commodity and a weapon that is the highest damaging in it's gun type.

The thorn is OP, however it takes skill to use. Not like suros back in the day you could just spray. Vex is also aggravating. This had been my worst banner due to awful connection from moving. It's frustrating 5 punching people and not getting a kill cause of my lag. Ill try and play a few games and my K/D is usually around a 1.5 but with my lag I'm useless

9 RepliesEdited by WATTS24fps: 4/30/2015 11:30:05 PMThorn takes skill to use and plenty of people who suck will get dominated in seconds if you don't get head shots against a person using a vex or last word or juju or red death. And nerfing it is just dumb because it's what makes it unique and the dot is just like burn from a warlock punch or anything fire that burns and lingers like grenades. There has to be at least one gun that is highly sought after and difficult to obtain that rewards a skilled user and veteran and that is the thorn. Get better with it or earn it and you'll understand. I'm a thorn user and get killed by them as well and go positive just about all my matches. Anybody can get it and be good with it.

It's because it's such a recognizable weapon. No other gun makes your screen glow bright green when you get hit.
