What is your opinion on this?
They announced no matchmaking so you will have to go in with a premade fireteam. This is the biggest reason so many people have not raided and is definitely a huge barrier.
Will you form a team and try ToO or is it just not for you?
Would like to hear from the casual players as we already know all the PVP addicts have a raging Gjallarboner for this.
Edit: DeeJ's suit too OP

I'm going to try it. Destiny is a game.

I think enough people will try it that it won't be all people who are great at pvp. Heck, pvp now is full of really crappy players who play. If there's a chance for better rewards, why wouldn't they play ToO as well? I know the matchmaking will keep some out, but I'm guessing there will still be plenty of players at all skill levels who play it. I just hope I'm lucky enough to face a bunch of bad teams in a row.

2 RepliesEdited by SaberFusion1: 4/30/2015 7:21:25 AMWell i just want to know how the matchmaking works. Does it still match u against random teams. Or does it check ur overall K/D and match up with similar lvl players. its always as stupid to be the best in game, but still lose the match. Teams are usually so unbalanced. E: And my K/D aint even +2.0. In salvage i do have +2.0 but overall is lower. So sometimes my team gets -blam!- me including.

Edited by The Fallen Zyzz: 4/30/2015 7:06:54 AMDestiny's matchmaking and 'netcode' is trash. If it was fixed and stable, I would consider playing ToO. In its current state, Destiny is just too damn unstable to provide a truly competitive shooter.

2 RepliesEdited by oskas: 4/30/2015 12:32:08 AMI hate the fact that it's for hardcore only basically, not because of some matchmaking crap, but because I'm not good at pvp and I wish I could get all the rewards. (I understand that since I'm not good, I don't deserve them) but it would have been cool. =D Anyhow, I respect teams willing to put in the time to grind it out. I just feel kinda left out, due to the fact that I would never let destiny lfg or r/fireteams deal with me (a bad pvp'er). I wish it was a bit more casual, there are tons of full-on HC mmo's and pvp games to play, but either way, Maybe it's something I could work toward and strive to be better for. Maybe someday =)

Edited by BrayerIncognito: 4/30/2015 7:08:48 AMWell the average player only spends 15% of their play time in PvP so I can see the lack of matchmaking turning ToO into the "Elitist Only Club" within a few weeks of launch. Edit: I also see it as a shameless attempt to appeal to the 1% MLG crowd as the format really suits tournament play as we saw from the reveal.

Edited by Mal Stern: 4/30/2015 7:05:14 AMI'm excited for Trails, might be difficult to find a team to a pvp event.

12 RepliesImagine this: Scene: Entrance to the Trials of Osiris. Scene: Two hands are holding onto the outside handle of one of the entrance doors. A loud, three way conversation is taking place between two clan members and a disgruntled friend. Fireteam member #1: "But Hal....we need you!" Me: (Loud and hysterical voice) NO NOOO! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!!!!!" Fireteam member #2: "Don't be such a scub! It can't be that BAD." Me: (Loud and Hysterical voice) "YOU HAVN'T SEEN THE FOOTAGE! IT HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!" Fireteam member #1: "Why's it SOOOO horrible?" Me: (Loud and Hysterical voice) "IT CHAOS! CHAOS I SAY!! THERE ARE TLWs, THORNs, VEXs, AND TRUTHs AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE! AND THEIR BEING WIELDED BY BATTLEFIELD 4 and CALL OF DUTY TRY HARDS WHO HAVE NEVER SET FOOT IN THE VoG!!!!" Fireteam member #2: "You just described regular crucible, Hal." Me: (Loud and Hysterical voice) "BUT IT GETS WORSE!! THESE ARE NOT JUST ORDINARY CRUCIBLE PLAYERS! THEY HAVE MICs AND THEY COMMUNICATE BETTER THEN Seal Team 6 DID WHEN THEY WHACKED BIN LADDEN!!! THE T-BAG IS SSSTTTTOOONGGG IN THEM!" Fireteam member #1: "Your being ridiculous, I want that SICK Titan helmet!" Fireteam member #2: "And I want Fate of all Fools! The rewards are just TO great to pass up!" Fireteam member #1: "Quick! Pry his fingers loose! I've got his legs!" Me: (Louder hysterical voice) "NO! NOOO! JUST WAIT FOR THE PRISON OF ELDERS! ITS FUNNER AND NOT SWARMING WITH ELITIST JERKS!" Fireteam member #1: "No!! I want that helmet so I look like a giant stupid bird!" Fireteam member #2: "And I want Fate of all Fools so it can take up my exotic slot with its stupid exotic perk and be outclassed by a 365 VoC!" In unison: "AND YOUR GONNA HELP US GET THEM!!!!" Narrator: (Morgan Freeman voice) And with one last great heave, the sadly misguided Fireteam members wrenched their screaming clan member free and dragged him kicking and screaming into the Trials of Osiris....Get busy livin? AH HA AH HA AH HA HA HA!!!...more like...more like.....get busy DYIN!!. Me: (Slowly fading screams) "NO! NOOOO!!! THE CAKE IS A LIE! THE CAKE IS A LIE! THE CAKE IS A LLLLLLLIIIIIIEEEE!!!!!!!!.........AAAAYYYYYEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee........." Scene: The doors to the Trials of Osiris slam shut with the finality of a coffin's lid (BOOM). End scene. This should clear up how I feel about the Trials of Osiris.

I'm going to just be up front about it and say it. I suck at pvp and so the trials will not be something for me. But why not have some fun at least? My plan is to go into the trials with my fireteam decked out with my best weapons and armor, then whenever I get into the game switch over to white/green weapons and armor and have a jolly good time :)

I'm casual. I can't god damn wait.

4 RepliesI have enough friends to play with me. I'm just concerned about them not being good enough..

For someone who enjoys being exposed to really good players and experience this is one of those game modes. If you want to close your eyes and mindlessly kill things play a raid or fire up patrol mode on your favorite planet. In my opinion, it's not going to be for everyone that's why there are multiple paths to get to level 34 just like there were for 30 and 32. If you don't like it don't play it. There's plenty of other activities in this game where you're able to pub stomp noobs.

Makes no difference to me. I don't do PvP anyway.

Trials is 3v3. Getting 3 people together is not hard, not at all, it only requires you to do the most basic of efforts to find 2 other people from the various forums on the internet. If you are THAT lazy that you can't even do that, then why should Bungie care about you? They specifically said that they are catering this towards all PVP players, and all players in general, not just hard core PVP.
-
I don't think so. Plenty of average or worse teams will be trying it out.
-
I don't think so. If the rewards are deemed to be good, I think ToO will pull in players who don't regularly play Crucible, just as Iron Banner currently does.
-
This is how I see this: First. I'm disappointed they don't have match making. I think the major issue here is the consistency player will have when it comes to building a team for play. This results in much less people playing in the trials. Now I also see that bungie wanted to keep the new loot off the table for a bit, that is not everyone would get the sets like ce did. Also having it only happen the weekend is a though I'm sure they had that was probably something to the degree about more players being online and it should alleviate the consistency issue. I disagree. Even with lfg players won't want to use this for the trails. Matchmaking would not hurt this new event. As the teams are pitted against a new group each round. This would allow a much more diverse play. The other thing is that I'm getting concerned that he new best(looking) gear is only coming from the trials and that's lame. I think the gear should equal across pve as well. Guess we will see next week
