Taking a break from destiny
maxed the season pass a while ago
got every gear I care about 10x over
got every weapon I care about 50x over
light saber was fun but now I never use it, chasing more mods for it isn't compelling at all
the order system is annoying as heck, exotic and legendary orders end up clogging it - trying to drive me into stuff I loathe but I refuse to, the exotic orders especially take WAY too much time for a crappy slot machine exotic engram that will 99% be trash
the frontier stuff was fun for a while but is boring as heck now, don't care about borrowed power that is only good in the frontier, don't care about invading, don't care about lightsaber colors,. Frontier is just one big boring rep grind where I already got every reward I care about 10x over way before I end the rep grind. Doing it for all 3 factions is just more boredom and repetition.
did equilibrium a few times, got some drops and don't care about gettting any more or unlocking the stupid lightsaber stuff
I mostly pvp cuz the pve stuff bores me so quickly, but pvp is poorly balanced with crazy deltas between the effectiveness of certain builds and weapons, which leads to almost every match being a landslide one way or the other, especially when combined with mice in controller lobbies, aimbot cheats and macro movement to trivialize the only real skill in pvp. And then you have when bungie fills you in to a landslide loss already almost over. Just wasting my time.
55 days left on the current pass but nothing to do but wildly unbalanced pvp matches, so I'm taking a break. We'll see if the next xpac is any better. This is like another 8 weeks of TWAB's and announcements for the next xpac where hopefully pvp becomes more balanced and pve becomes less boring and the reward system isn't so narrow in that only a few weapons and gear are worthwhile.
I've got a TON of other games to play, destiny needs to compete for my time...

2 RepliesI was late to renegades and did the campaign over the Christmas period. Lightsaber is cool and fun but I’m just not really feeling like getting the other weapons or the armour this season. I played too much in EoF to care anymore. The dungeon is alright, nothing crazy. Intresting but again Im not grinding D2 anymore like I was in the past. Arc raiders really hitting that perfect balance of things I want with PvE and PvP. Hopefully Marathon is fun enough to bring me back to a Bungie game.

Dont blame ya! Really wanted to play with EoF and this season with my friends, all die-hard Destiny fans. But managed campaign in eof, and 2 missions in renaged. The portal is -blam!-, the grind mindless and pointless. Think its time to move on.

I’ve taken a small break too. Nothing to really do. The director is basically useless since it dosent drop tiered loot or armor. The portal is boring and bland. Loot drops just for existing.

1 ReplyI took a break when edge of fate came out and came back for renegades and the break did me good. I feel like people forget we play games for fun not to add chores to the list. If you only play destiny solely to get power level increases and certain drops then sure there will come a point when you run out of stuff to do. I however play this game to shoot stuff because the gunplay remains unrivalled. I play activities that I already have the gear for because it is fun to do so. Yesterday I had a sudden impulse to spend a couple hours just chilling in the pale heart so I did. Experimented with a bunch of weapons I’ve not used and just had a blast shooting stuff. Not everything you do in a game has to have some sort of specific progression related thing about it. Back in D1 at the end of its life I spent so much time in the strike playlist just because it was fun to do so.

You should start treating it like a game, not a job. Youll enjoy it more

Lawless front tier is the worst mode Bungie has ever made. Between no health regen and having to solo the higher difficulties to just avoid dealing with invasions. I’m done with this dlc and any other dlc/mode that has health regen off or any PvP like mechanic in it. I’ll see you in warframe lol. The fact Bungie didn’t even put a higher difficulty mode without invasions or a way to turn off no health regen is the dumbest thing they have ever done. I don’t care if I’m in the minority or not these two mechanics alone ruin the experience in my opinion.

Well said. This game is not for everyone anymore. It's for people who can't let go of a dying franchise and the streamers who attempt to prop it up as much as they can. This franchise is like a tarp tent in a rainstorm. It's filling up with water in the strangest of places and starting to collapse under the pressure. Get an umbrella and run out from underneath it while you still can, lest you get wet with everyone else still in that tent when it falls apart.

Yeah, I'm enjoying Far Cry 6 at the moment for many of the reasons you stated. I played some D2 pvp last Saturday and found myself shouting and swearing (again) instead of just enjoying my playtime, the desire to play D2 is rapidly waning for me. 😥

5 RepliesProbably better to walk away ! This is the model Bungie will use from now on . Nothing is changing and the numbers are dropping rapidly now . I brought EOF and renegade’s which I regret . Haven’t finished either campaigns . Last few months I’ve gradually lost the buzz and my addiction to playing d2 …I’ve even stopped deleting gear so my post office is over flowing lol

I got to max rank about a week ago, and that was queue to stop for now as I haven’t really enjoyed post renegades content. Picked up Elden Ring: Nightreign on the steam sale and already dropped like 30 hours in it. Idk I hope shadow and order has a seasonal story to even have a reason to login weekly. And Iron Banner needs a slightly longer quest and needs to come back more often.

I finished my season pass today then played a bit more while downloading For 5 then i planning to replay C&C Red Alert 2/3 and Generals with the DLC's so i have games to play until the new season in fact i taking break because of the same reason you have mentioned minus the dungeon because i could care less to get a "exotic" crossbow or the taken crystal

6 RepliesThere is nothing to do cause you think you have nothing to do . People play destiny 2 as a dayjob nowadays and as soon as their "job" is done then they start saying they will take a break . People used to play for years and yes they did the same stuff over and over and over cause it was a game where people had fun . You clearly don't like to play destiny , you just play untill you have everything unlocked that you can unlock from the dlc and then leave . That is exactly what streamers are doing cause they think playing games is a dayjob . But they leave their "dayjob" as soon as they are bored by playing the same stuff over and over and over , just like you . Buy the dlc and keep playing or shut up and don't buy it in the first place . You sound like a streamer ...
