I'm making this post because I heard they were going to. I believe they're nerfing Well primarily due to how overused it is in DPS, and rightfully so, however, as much as I want to hate on it, I'm anti-nerf for multiple reasons:
Ways that should be able to counter the Well:
(Note: I don't know if any of these already work, but in case they don't...)
Supression should prevent players from benefitting from the Well of Radiance (and Ward of Dawn).
Area Of Effect can damage the sword. This is pretty self explanatory.
Well swords would be targets for chain damage (such as firing a charged Trinity Ghoul shot towards one). The arc would chain towards the sword as though it were an opponent.
To balance it in PVE I have one new super and 1 revamp:
Hunters
Shadowshot: Deadfall
Additionally, this super can "tether" (for lack of a better term) allies to grant devour and damage resistance.
Titans
Arc Force
Slam your fists into the ground, creating a continuous burst of arc energy that damages targets, grants damage resistance, and heals those inside upon defeating enemies.
The durations would both be fitted to match Well Of Radiance and adjusted where needbe for balancing.
Edit: I've heard alot of the arguments against Well and here's a new solution:
Well's duration reduced to 20 seconds.
Well's size reduced to that of rift's size.
Well no longer gives a small amount of HP when dropped (it actually does grant this RN if you were to look yourself) and the recovery is reduced to 50HP/s.
Radiance no longer stacks and takes priority over other damage buffs. Radiance damage bonus is also reduced to 15%.
Resistance is dropped to 10%.

I don't think we'll should be needed but perhaps encounter changes. Too many are too gimmicky. Requirement to stay in one area to do damage just to get slammed, bumped, telephoned, etc sort of requires a well. Perhaps rethink how encounters are done. I know they tried to beef up roaming supers but those are are reliable still. One of the biggest enemies are the architects whom I think the witness works under.

1 ReplyIf anything they should just nerf the damage bonus against bosses and that’s it. Maybe even buff the survivability while in it as compensation.

8 RepliesPersonally, I think it's time for it to get an adjustment. But I don't think the answer alone is simply just adjusting Well of Radiance. The "problem", IMO comes 2 fold : 1. Encounter Design 2. Lack of options for team support And before any think, yes, Joe Blackburn has already confirmed that Well of Radiance is getting adjusted before Final Shape's Raid. Some ideas I've seen float around Discord Servers and other groups : - Adjust base duration to 15 seconds for the casting Warlock. The timer is extended for kills from the casting Warlock inside the Well of Radiance up to 25 seconds. Provides additional benefits. This is similar to the way Deadfall Tether was adjusted on Hunter compared to Mobius Quiver with duration. - Reduce the Damage Reduction Granted from Well (healing still persists as well as damage buff). A simpler solution, but it may meet the ultimate goal of balance in Bungie's view. - Overhaul the Super to instead of planting a single sword and its radius that lasts a duration, nearby players when cast get a Buff that grants them Radiant for a duration and 3x Stacks of "Cure/Restoration". Make a visual indicator that hovers above the player to show that buff is cast. When a player's shield is broken a Cure/Restoration stack is used. No damage reduction is granted to the player. If players are not near the Casting Warlock, they do not get any benefits. Total duration is 30 seconds. Additional Options : Void Sentinal Super (Sentinal Shield) should have additional benefits. 1. Standing behind a Sentinal Shield should grant a regenerating Void Overshield and provide it's already 50% Damage Resist (Similar to Bastion Aspect). 2. Standing Behind a Sentinal Shield should also provide max reload (Rally Barricade) benefits and increased Grenade Regeneration -- this last part could also be an overhaul of Ursa's Furiosa Exotic Arms instead of the base Super. - You're still down a player when choosing this super for overall DPS, but offering some additional protection, mobility, reload and grenade regen should make it an alternate option for Titans to support additional team members. - Banner of War Definitely a different way to play the game, up close and personal but I'm curious to see how it develops in the long term. Perhaps an Exotic here to beef up even more with team support. Regardless, it's been an endgame super for a long time, but I don't think the solution is simply adjusting Well. Curious to see what Bungie comes up with, have to wait and see.

Well is trash now try it in a GM . Sure its better then nothing but it already got nerfed hard . They really should reduce the cool down time for it at the very least .since its usefulness has been swept under the rug many months ago. Bungie got the "bring back difficulty to game" wrong . It only added more annoyance ,less fun and broken game builds . It didnt slow anything down. It just made the players cheese more and exploit when they can. Like this seasons strand titan build is a super cheese.

Edited by max: 10/12/2023 4:46:14 PM
Well is unhealthy for the game
The game design is unhealthy for Well Every single raid revolves around you standing in a circle shooting the boss while taken shitload of damage with no possible way of finding cover otherwise without trashing your dps, the entire endgame since gos is just well or wipe, so until they give other classes survivability super on call, the argument on well being op is purely braindead, no one use it because they love being a sup, they use it to not wipe

1 ReplyIt getting Adjusted for Final Shape. it not because of Advantage being use for DPS. also Protecting from getting Advantage for DPS Cause of New Super Light Subclass will be overpowering DPS. am guessing, Buff Damage will reduce, timer on Well might get know down. for Phoenix Protocol Super Return may get knock down and prob will tick player if they reduce Damage protecting. Just have to See what happen when announce it Next season. All Buff, Nerf, Adjust, mod, weapon info start dropping. they could start doing Well next season preparing for Final Shape, Which i do Hope so give everyone Chance see how they fell about and raise issue see what could of done better, but there no Hope there.

12 RepliesI'm tired of having to be well
-
1 ReplyThey already nerfed it unnecessarily. In PvP it’s not even worth using. Anything can kill you while you’re in it. Can’t even notice the damage buff to weapons from it either.
-
2 RepliesThe only thing i would nerf from well is DAMAGE RESIST. It shouldnt be a thing. You have insane healing. If you want resistance : bubble. This makes no sense and its the reason people can ignore damage taken from any source. Hence why they have to design encounters with absurd damage to compensate...but in the end it just makes encounters impossible without a well.
-
1 ReplyBud, suppression does nothing against well, and the well barely takes damage from AOE and trinity ghoul shots don’t chain to it from what I observed in the experiments I conducted in a private match (Mainly because I had nothing better to do at that time)
-
All it needs is nerf to charge time in pvp just like bubble and super charge Times are useless in pve anyways so it wont effect anything there

You couldn't make this -blam!- up.

Area Of Effect can damage the sword. This is pretty self explanatory.
This is already a thing and why Resilience is also important for wellocks because it effects
Hunters Shadowshot: Deadfall Additionally, this super can "tether" (for lack of a better term) allies to grant devour and damage resistance.
Will never happen. Would almost render almost every other Hunter super useless with the potential up time of tether with Morpheus Rig
Titans Arc Force Slam your fists into the ground, creating a continuous burst of arc energy that damages targets, grants damage resistance, and heals those inside upon defeating enemies.
As a titan main.. Just no. We can already do most of these without the need of a super that in most cases wouldn't damage anything If Bungie mad all the classes pretty much the same like what is being suggested then what is the point to having different classes. Especially when now there really isn't a point. The classes are all similar enough that almost ALL content can be done with whatever you want to use where most games with class and leveling systems have class team/party requirements unless you have a full premade team/party at which time you can use whatever classes in your team/party with most teams who use anything other than what the activity was designed for fail massively. Like in FFXIV online. 8 player raids are designed for 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 4 DPS. Unless your team is geared to the teeth that raid will fail with anything other than 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 4 DPS. As much as I and alot of others don't like it this game is moving in the direction of a pay to win MMO with way more emphasis being placed on the "pay to win" than the "MMO" by Bungie.

Edited by wlldnlp: 10/12/2023 7:59:17 PMReading through the comments I see a lot of warlocks saying they’re tired of running wells. Here’s a very simple solution. Why don’t you all form a fireteam with each other and run what ever you want? Don’t force me to change because you’re unhappy. You change and leave me alone.
-
45 RepliesNo. Well is unhealthy for the game. It forces warlocks to run one specific super in most content and encounters have been designed around well for years.
-
I would tend to be on the Nerf Well team, but see merit in both arguments. (Mainly for PVE as I’m not a PVP guy) I think they could nerf it in 3 possible ways: 1: a decrease in damage reduction and recovery, making it good for damage via radiance, but easier to be killed inside of it 2: Keeping the health stuff the same, but a massive nerf to radiant and its damage buff. 3: Taking away the radiance from the well of radiance (as stupid as it sounds) so it’s just for health and no damage boost
-
5 RepliesAs long as my peregrines kill them in wells and bubbles am happy... Also if you kill the warlock the well should die also. Why should warlocks keep their super when titans do not
-
2 RepliesSo your solution to well being mandatory for warlocks is to add mandatory supers for the other classes? You really don’t see how that doesn’t fix the problem of well being too strong?
-
I’m tired of it being a crutch. Nerf it to the ground!
-
2 RepliesWell doesn't even need a nerf because it really isn't needed. People just think it is because they have no thumbs or something.
-
10 RepliesWoR is a perfect example of Bungie creating something really powerful, then continuously nerfing it because they couldn’t balance it, and now its been stripped as much as possible while still being a super. The best solution to fix the WoR problem would be to introduce new and equal alternatives, but that requires people to work. Bungie really backed themselves into a corner on this one.
-
Don’t nerf well then all the crybaby hunters and tanks will moan because they don’t know how to survive a boss encounter
-
You want bubble to hard counter well when they have the same cooldown and bubble is already better than well for capturing zones? That is wild. You can’t get sniped out of a bubble you can get sniped out of a well. Well already has more counters than bubble.
-
3 RepliesI hope they nerf it to the point that it's flat out unusable. It's time to do something other than stand in the health puddle.
-
All you have to do is take away the damage buff, it would still be used but not overpowered. This would make ward of dawn more useful (because ward of dawn gives damage buff, but well does also, making ward useless)
