Grinding: the wrong solution for the same problem

Destiny 2, after 2 dlcs, encountered the lack of content. So with forsaken Bungie decided to make us... rage. So instead of content we’ve got an exhaustive grind. Doing the same activities over and over for the SAME weak rewards. Almost no one got to even enter the raid. I believe that the current method of making everything harder and slower will have the opposite result, players leaving the game prematurely and frustrated. [spoiler]Add more random rolls, more strikes + [b]PvP maps[/b], and finally: More Loot (no blues)[/spoiler]

    • Exhaustive grind?? I just play and have fun and poof, my level goes up. I'm not following specific guides or repeating the same content, just revolving through the stuff I enjoy playing with my friends and am at 536 without huge playtime numbers in the current season. I've likely put a total of 20ish hours into this DLC since launch and i've yet to feel ANY hard annoying grind. All of this is anecdotal, but that's all I have in regards to the context of this discussion.

      • I'm with you OPbut wants Bungie gets in your veins it's just a tantrum of the love/hate Destiny conundrum. Maybe a kernel of truth there with burnout, one can only take so many duplicates, negative reward drop bugs and feeling like your in a primitive psychiatric experiment. Only the truly wise can love something yet let that same thing go when it's time has truly come

      • I'm bored of the grind. I'm not chasing a vex mythoclast or that new raid exotic. I'm looking for any -blam!-ing new exotic to drop. Bored of shit rewards for 9/10 things I complete.

        • Yes. It's a bit of a mess right now. The Tangled Shore is ugly looking. The Barons all went down in short order with not so much as a whimper. Those missions were weak. The newness of the Dreaming City wore off in an hour. Big place, but not very awe inspiring. So unless it's Power engrams, the rewards are useless. I dont like the mish mash concept of Gambit, so I dont even go there. Crucible is what it is, but it's not story driven and is no more entertaining than driving the I-10 across Texas. Completing the Daily Heroic and Strikes is a chore, all wash rinse repeat for stuff that's mostly underpowered and rarely of equal power. The Triumphs tab is nothing more than a checklist of "What do I need to do next?" A loaf of bread - check A container of milk - check A stick of butter - check Combuster Valus - check Since Forsaken dropped the only reason to go to EDZ/Titan etc was because of Flashpoint or Fat Fallen Jabba has a bounty out for some wandering miscreant. Same with the new infusion system. Its purpose built to slow your power climb. "Oh you want to infuse your billionth Edge Transit that you just got from a powerful engram to beef up your Sleeper? Nah, I'm gonna need some more Masterwork cores, like alot of them and throw a couple thousand glimmer and some planetary mats in too." So that Edge gets scrapped into Legendary shards, only to have Fallen Jabba exponentially increase the cost of each core you purchase. Oh well, what are you gonna do? Personally, I'm gonna go kick rocks for another 2 hours and maybe I'll get to 517 🙄

        • I’m just waiting for the crew who were posting threads on this board on day 1: “The grind is perfect” “The exotic drop rate is as it should be” “It’s like Destiny 1, therefore good” “Games should be work, actually” to break and admit that this game has been turned into a -blam!-ing chore despite the fact that it has all the elements in place for a legitimately great and entertaining environment. The day will come and I will enjoy it. Btw it was super weird that those same opinions got plastered all over this board from the outset, as if they were getting picked up from ... idk ... YouTube or something.

          • I am sure that some weapons are not in players loot table. I have got like 8 rocket launcher in gambit and impossible to get the revolver and the automatic rifle.

            • This is nothing compared to most other loot based games. It's still fairly lacking both in grind and content. But, at least for what destiny is, forsaken is decent.

              • I agree. Bungie, and some players, need to understand the difference between an annoying grind, and a challenging content. PvP players have it good, they can just do PvP all day and get all the content they want. But PvE players have to do the same bullshit over and over ad nausium. I'm okay with having to work for my reward, but grinding one thing for hours and hours only to get nothing rewarding.. its just not a good thing for Destiny.

                    • Gambit is best thing so far, the shore is cool, i like it, DC isn't bad, wish there was more to it, so to say, but they say more will open in time. So, i'm giving DC more time, so to say. Gambit is a blast, i hate this games pvp, so to have something with a touch of pvp is honestly pretty good, with trying to beat the other team in pve kills/gathering, then throw in the sleeper, errrr i mean a pvper to try and slow your team down. Its great. Hope they make the rewards better though, they are little lacking.
