Datto's opinion hits most points on the nailhead.

This is a video that shows me a lot of missed opportunities that Bungie could have taken into more consideration. Not everything in this video is correct, and Datto is not the perfect human being, so of course there are mistakes in the video. Just look past that and try to see the bigger picture.
This is an opinion, and I mention this to start a conversation about the game that I want to be playing/enjoying later this year.
Another solid opinion comes from Th3 Jez

36 RepliesSo instead of playing the game yourself and seeing if YOU like it, you're going to let a crybaby youtuber tell you what to think about a game that is not even out yet? You do know that bitch is part of the reason why d1 is garbage, right?
-
2 RepliesStreamers are very important to 12 year olds...and thusly very important to Bungie, since that is their target demographic.
-
3 RepliesDatto is a cuck.

3 RepliesBungie talks a good game, but they end up doing what they want...not what we want. Anybody that witnessed the last update reveal knows that they can't even play their own pvp game, let alone make sound choices for its direction.
-
3 RepliesLike I said, the more we find out about D2, the more concerning it is that Bungie is not heading in a direction congruent with community expectations.

9 RepliesTo hell with PvP, just take it out of the game and make an amazing PvE game with lots of content, NPCs, enemies wildlife and good coop play. Make it a game where 6 people can roam around the world. PvP has destroyed Destiny and I'm scared it might do the same thing to Destiny 2

3 RepliesFrom what has been seen and heard about d2 so far, it just doesnt seem like they put as much effort into the game as they should have to put it over the top. Sophmore is always the most important after u have a hit.

*wakes up* "hmmmm I'm not sure what I should wear today, I better check what the youtubers are saying" *goes to make breakfast* "hmmmm I'm not sure what I should have for breakfast today, I better check what the youtubers are saying"

6 RepliesOh look another youtuber/streamer thar thinks we shouldn't form our own opinions. Oh wait he makes a living filling players minds with his opinions.

Yea D2 is gonna be garbage, best not to buy👎🏻

14 RepliesDatto is full of shit in this video. The very first thing he does is read Luke's quote that they're working on something similar to ranked play and that it may not be ready at launch. He ends the video by saying just give us something, it doesn't even have to be right at launch. So... Isn't that EXACTLY what Luke said? Then there's his self righteous "Players need to learn personal accountability" And he goes on to list all the things he doesn't whine about and tells Bungie to learn to tell players to get good. Now I don't have a problem with the sentiment. I've been saying players need to be more personally accountable since year one. What I do have a problem with, is when it's coming from a dude who made a video BEGGING FOR SUNSINGERS AND DoTs TO BE NERFED. Which started the ball rolling that led to both ultimately getting -blam!-ed. But I guess he doesn't remember that or personal accountability doesn't apply to him. I also loved where he trashes Destiny vs Overwatch, but then says... But it's not a fair comparison. I've got to give it to Datto, he knows what he's doing and he knows how to get reaction and video views. The entire video was made to play off the emotions of gamers because he knows anti-Bungie videos get lots of plays. My advice and I know I've put out the opposite sentiment from Datto on the game is to not take anyone's word for it and play it and decide for yourself.

Datto talking about player accountability? He needs to practice what he preaches.

1 ReplyEdited by Who Xur Daddy: 6/25/2017 1:44:06 PMGreat video, and I agree on most of what he said. However, it's still quite a bit early to make a lot of the assumptions he is making. Not about the changes that we already know about, but about reward system changes that perhaps we don't. They have only revealed a small percentage of D2, so I'll just sit back and relax until then. Though, it's good that people like Datto are making their voices heard on our account so that hopefully Bungie will take notice on changes that perhaps need to happen. I'm definitely not happy about the changes to the skill trees, though. It's pretty clear that their goal wasn't to "simplify" anything. It was clearly to nerf everything.

2 RepliesEdited by RPColten: 6/25/2017 8:50:51 PMLearn to summarize and detail the contents of video links if you're going to post them in threads. Not only does it help focus the readers onto what you want to discuss, but it also shows that you are aware of the base contents of the video and not just posting it for validity. That being said, Datto's main discussion point is the 'lack' of a ranked system for Destiny 2 at launch. The words "at launch" are key here, and he even brings up a quote from Luke Smith via a Kotaku interview that this whole hubabaloo is coming from.
“We’re not doing ranked PVP. We’re seven, eight weeks away [from finishing]. We have an idea of something we might do. I don’t wanna commit to it here because I’m not sure it’s gonna happen. If we don’t get it for September 6, there’ll be something, some way of players showing off their prowess to other people. Which is ultimately what a ranking system is. We’re working on something.”
-On whether they’re going to have ranked PVP at launch That was from an interview via Kotaku. There was also in interview done with PC Gamer that features this segment
*Going back to the Overwatch comparison, are you planning to include a ranked play mode for Destiny 2 PvP? There is not going to be a ranking system for the September launch. *But it’s something under consideration for down the line? We always have ideas. I mean one of the things I’m working on right now is a roadmap for Destiny 2, you know with the live team, and this is going to be—you know, I anticipate things like ranking systems are going to be very desired, and we’re going to have those conversations. But I’m not going to commit us to any of that work on the phone.
Moving on to Datto and how he is completely committing to what Luke Smith said in short interviews, taking a flat "we are not doing ranked PvP at launch" and turning it into "we are not doing ranked PvP". The core of his rant is on the idea of how committed Bungie is to a truly competitive scene. He wants to see full committment from Bungie about creating a competitive scene and is frustrated with the phrases like "not a launch" or "not on September 6th". Is Bungie not trying to create a better and more 'competitive' PvP scene based on what they have shown? Datto even lists in the video multiple points that highlight just this topic. Bungie is trying to create a more competitive PvP environment, but they are also choosing to ignore a 'ranking system' for the moment so that the Crucible can settle post-launch and they can follow the best course from there. Destiny is a new IP and Destiny 2's Crucible is looking far from comparible to current Crucible. The smart thing to do is to not commit to a ranked system so that the game can level out after it comes out. For a chunk, he is fair in the assumption that a committed competitive scene from Bungie would be better for audience reception; he also chooses to ignore the other side of the coin that he is basing his argument on. Bungie isn't committing to it right now, but they know it is something that will garner a lot of audience appeal. He is ignoring the idea that this is something that they can totally have and instead choosing to believe that just because they won't "have something at launch" it means that there won't be anything at all. He is tunnel-visioning his argument and failing to make himself sound any more appealing than any of the statements from Luke Smith. At least Smith has the decency to make it known that nothing should be totally committed to when you're not 100%.

1 Replyso you don,t have an opinion yourself you have to quote a steamer

6 RepliesYou know its bad when Datto complains. Destiny 2 is about taking choices away that where given in destiny 1. they will tell you how to play.
-
I'm positive that a LOT of the general content that people want now will probably be sold in DLCS, to get people to buy👎🏻

15 RepliesActually he missed. 1. Pvp is undergoing massive changes in D2. We don't know how they'll work out. 2. The game is getting an entirely new set of weapons. We don't know how the balance will be at launch. Do you really want a ranked play list that's dominated by one weapon that is RNG? 3. Overwatch didn't have its ranked list at launch. Blizzard gave people time to learn the game. Time to get comfortable, then introduced it. Desire have a PTR/beta on PC that lasted for months working out balance problems. Something Destiny won't have. The mistake Datto makes is the same mistake every other complainer makes. They forget that this is a new game and acts like all this is some sort of DLC in a game Bungie had had three years to work all the bugs out of. Bungie probably wants to get the Crucible RIGHT this time before the start layering in tons of crap on it. You know the things they didn't do last time.

7 RepliesEdited by KitsuneSonow: 6/25/2017 4:09:57 PMReal talk here, aren't streamers and youtubers (including Datto) the ones that were constantly complaining about this and that, getting their fans to chime in with the same opinion, saying X and Y would be the meta before a patch even released, and over all did nothing to actually improve the game? I mean, just a few weeks before the D2 reveal everyone was saying how we shouldn't listen to streamers and youtubers and how they ruin the game, but now suddenly their "knowledge" and opinions are infallible and we should head their words with the utmost caution. Also, because now they are denouncing the game based off what...1 story mission, 1 strike, and 1 PVP mode...their opinions (which some are stating as cold, hard facts) are suddenly better? I'm sorry, but to me that is just bullshit.

Sure did. "Make more stuff for the top players!"

9 RepliesEdited by BossManTings88: 6/25/2017 3:01:52 PMSimplest solution buy it at or after launch (don't preorder it) if you don't like what it's offering trade in immediately you know like the old days
