How do you people get to the lighthouse flawlessly or not? I played 3 games while ago and it got my blood boiling. During one of the games I was playing my one friends (has played trials before) were mad saying "This is why I don't play Trials on Friday, everyone is a try-hard," while my other friend (a trials expert) was complaining that we were against too many carries, then there's me being - a casual crucible player getting rekted into oblivion; I have no previous trials experience also I'm bad at quick decision making under stress which did cost, that is not to say we weren't coordinated I sat there and listened to them and did what they said because was new to trials and I don't know how it's different from casual crucible.
I rate Trials of Osiris salty/10 would not play again.
I fixed the grammar error from trails to trials, happy?

Get a little drunk and go into it with the mindset that you just want to have fun. I tend to enjoy the game more and actually play better when I play this way. If you get upset, you will most likely make more mistakes and will spend most of your time laying in a puddle of your own blood. If you lose, shrug it off, you can't win every game.

I'm not an expert but at the moment either use a hand Cannon or no land Beyond pretty much anything else will be out gunned by no land Beyond atm.

Trials is basically a tournament based system. Of course you'll face tryhards. It's not for everyone. Plus there's no secret formula to guarantee a flawless run. You and your friends need to play smart. Change your strats if you lose a round. I go flawless because I can easily predict the enemy and order my team to set up a counter/give ourselves the advantage. That and I've been here since day 1 so experience plays a huge roll.

Trials, by definition is supposed to be the most difficult game type. It's not meant to be for casual play because casual play doesn't really depend on winning or losing. Trials is about winning and winning consistently. It's an Esports tournament and that's the way you should look at it.

Never been flawless :(

3 RepliesHow to win at trials: Equip one of the following meta permutations. Nlb/ wormwood. Hand cannon / wormwood. Something/ Icebreaker Most importantly, have internet that allows you to be mid map before the other team spawns, and Internet that also allows you to shoot 20 feet behind the hunter that smoked your face, shade stepped behind the wall and yet you still kill him. This type of Internet also yields the ability to appear to get triple teamed in the face, yet not die, because you already triple downed the entire team with a time traveling Nlb. They just don't know it yet, because there's no time to explain why there's no time to explain... And oh yeah, make sure to have your ghost out leaving the match before it is even over for the other guys, because that's how winners roll. Time is money when you're a carrier, and you gotta be halfway through the next match before the other guys even see the god forsaken loot table.

Don't take it so seriously. Yea it gets intense at times but it's just a game. I play trials because it's fun try doing that and you'll do better. You also have to find a good load out that works for you
-
It's learning how to play the game type as much as it is gun skill or if you have a 2000 Elo its how accurate you are with your sticky nades.

1 ReplyDestiny is only internet. No real skills required, when having connection advantage. When i see you 1-2 second earlier on my screen, i can make some really nice tricks and everybody would think how good player i am. But on your screen, you didn't even see me yet ;) Who are the most streamers? Players which may play Destiny normally and even with an advantage. This is why they can carry: They simply see you 1-2 seconds earlier on their screens. When you see them, it's mostly too late. So don't take Destiny serieus. You just have to be lucky to have connection advantage 7-9 matches in raw.

6 RepliesBeen flawless once and it was in year 3. It was on a Monday at like 3 in the morning an hour before reset during widows court map. I met two random players that were decent players and we ran two cards. The first one we got 7 wins and we just had decent chemistry. On the second card we ran it straight without losing one game. After that I really have not played trials since because I don't have the time on weekends to keep running cards and the player pool makes it extremely ruff with my level of skill. I'm 35 married with a career, three kids, and a mortgage. Find players that are better than you or just as good. I tried for a long time but I was playing with my friends and they are not that good, and that was probably my biggest mistake. Heck I'm not even that good. But when I play with better players I tend to pick up my level of play and learn from them.

1 ReplyTrials is a business, only paid carries/recoveries and Streamers play.
-
Question to all trials players...but he's asking how to get to the lighthouse...does he think all trials players go to the lighthouse?
-
Never been, never had an actual team besides random. My special weapon game is weak and unfortunately that's a must in that game type. Even with a hand cannon, I'm no match for a sniper
-
I've been flawless 30+ times and people are always going to be "tryharding" because they want flawless, also your friend saying there is to many carries is probably just an excuse.
-
1 Reply"Try-hards" aren't a thing, everyone tries to win. Deal with it

11 RepliesEdited by Tryal: 3/12/2017 5:14:05 PMTrials is stressful for me. I do carries that rely on me greatly to get them flawless.

I went to the Lighthouse once in Y2. I just posted on lfg to complete the bounties. Got a party invite from two guys who were really good lol. It was awesome when we did it. Turns out they just like ToO and helping people. No twitch, account recoveries or any of that other payed BS people try. I'm still PSN friends with these guys now but let them take others to the promised land. I got there once and that's all I need. I guess what I'm saying is if your not good enough to do it yourself or have stats good enough to pull in good players to your fireteam you need to just get lucky.

2 RepliesWait, the "expert" was complaining that ya'll were facing carries? So, he was complaining about facing people that put themselves at a disadvantage?
-
Edited by DoubleBodyShot: 3/12/2017 4:09:08 PMBecause they're playing an entirely different game than you are. Most players impose their own moral code when playing crucible. ( Not using certain "cheap" skills or weapons and even strategies as well ). The ones who go often play the game. The game involves any and every option and tactic available. Pair this with a seasoned player and you have a recipe for success.
please note that I do not think some of these strategies SHOULD be available but the reality is they are and people will use them.
I reached the lighthouse in year 1 when there was a larger player-base and so we got fewer tough games. I also made it once in year 2 and once in the first week of year 3. I don't think I'll manage it again before Destiny 2 drops. That doesn't mean you should give up hope though. People still make it. On the times that I made it, I played most of the weekend which got me accustomed to the map, what teams commonly did and the best strategies to gain an upper hand. I had teammates that I gelled with. Also, I did best when it wasn't my mission to go flawless. Being too fixated on having to win usually threw my game a bit and made the whole thing less fun for me and my teammates. Usually we'd go in expecting the usual crushing, relax and enjoy the game, and then when reaching 7-0 start thinking that we might actually do this... Although beware 8-0, because you tend to be matched against people on the same score and the difficulty level shoots through the roof!

6 RepliesEdited by lynk: 3/12/2017 4:26:15 AMOne does not get to the Lighthouse by letting their blood boil. As soon as you start getting upset, it's already over. I know it sounds generic, but it's true. Don't let whatever is happening go to your head. If a teammate trades, don't say "fuck...". Say "good trade" and focus on the other 2. If the enemy gets a res, don't say "it's over"; say "free super energy", and proceed to kill them again. Honestly, one thing that my team did back when we played, is we would continously bully a single enemy. Pick a name, and do the most annoying thing you can do to him. Get him pissed off. Because when 1 person gets pissed, the entire team suffers. Also, don't play on Fridays. Your friend is right: try hards play on Fridays. Once they get to the Lighthouse, it becomes easier as the only people left are casuals and carriers. And if you can't beat a carrier, you are not worthy of the Lighthouse :-P Edit: btw, in my experience, the best time to play is Monday during the day while the kids are at school. This is a somewhat sensitive topic, but it has been my experience that highschoolers and college students (that's me) typically (not always) play better than their older comrades, probably because we have grown up playing FPS games while they have grown up playing Poker and Pong. So if you play on Monday, all the try hards are gone, and the teenagers are in school, which means most of the hard opponents are gone. #TitanMasterRace

Errr sounds like your friends aren't that great and make excuses. Sure you might have a card full of stacked 2 k/d's all the way to game 9 but that doesn't mean they aren't beatable. Just gotta have good teamwork and communication along with holding resses and not chasing after people. I love when people chase me since 9/10 I'm trying to bait them into isolating themselves so I can quickly take them out and have an orb or win a 1v3.
-
Get a terminal disease and bungo will Sherpa you for good PR then nerf all the fun
-
Personally I got carried hard I have to admit. But me and friends have come close a few times which is good considering how little chance I get to play it. The main things I have learned is GET GOOD! joking lol. Seriously though practice Sniping as its quite a common weapon in trials and winning that 1v1 is vital. Stay close to your team mates at all times (not next to each other but close). Call out everything as if you are describing what's going on to a blind man it's really helps. If you find someone on their own call it out to get the team shot and then cover that orb and pick off the rest of the team. Sounds simple bit obviously that's what everyone is doing so it never works out that easy. Or you can be scum bags and camp with skori until you have supers then kill the team.
-
Play with friends and don't take it too seriously. The more you build chemistry with them, the better you'll get as a team and go flawless
-
Edited by Weemzy: 3/12/2017 9:51:12 AMUnfortunately going flawless isn't about having fun with two average gamer friends that you have. A good team has to be put together where the components of that team are better than anyone you may come up against. Paid carries, get lucky on the twitcher raffle or paid account recoveries seem to be the only way for most. Unless you get lucky on a recruitment forum and some great players fancy being nice to you as most will have very high requirements. These are just my own thoughts on it after playing yesterday, I haven't been flawless and the most wins I have had is three. I will keep trying though.
