Exactly. People think that because they practiced and got good with a sniper, they deserved a better chance at winning than those who practiced and got good with any other weapon. That's not Balance.

Not really. Again, if you just learned how to not make your head a prime target, then it wasn't that hard. Dashing right at somebody who's scoped in shouldn't be a viable strategy.
-
If i dash at somebody with any primary or sniper or sidearm, they should have the advatage as I'm not shooting and they are. They still have that advantage. I rush with my shotgun all the time. And I'll see the guy pull out his sniper while I'm still pretty far, and I get headshot or 2 body shot. Or scout shot or pulse shot. They won that one. Fair and square. But if I'm around the corner from you and I can see you on my radar, I rush around with a shotgun. There should not be a guy 10 feet away with a sniper aiming at my head. The fact that some people choose to use a sniper at 10 feet because they know they can win that, is what Is a clear indicator that somethings messed up with snipers. If I tell you to choose 1 weapon to battle at a 10 ft length, no one should be choosing a sniper as their go to weapon. It should be shotgun auto sidearm or fusion or handcannon. Those are cqc guns. Not a sniper. I don't know why the destiny community is the only ones who think it should be different.... but they are good with the gun. I know that. I'm not saying it's easy. But it just takes practice. Like every other gun skill in every single game. No amount of practice should allow a sniper to be effective at cqc. It should be luck based shots.

Edited by ChasePack: 10/22/2016 11:25:53 PMIf you had someone on your radar ten feet away and you were managing to somehow get sniped by them the you're just bad. If you come straight around the corner right where they're aiming, then expect to get -blam!-ing domed. However, if you jump, slide, or really do anything somewhat evasive, they aren't going to hit you. This concept is applicable both pre-nerf and post-nerf.
-
I know. But you don't expect the enemy that's 10feet on your radar to be using a sniper. Because should literally be the worst weapon to use at 10 ft away. But it's still effective. So I don't do it anymore. Doesn't mean it's not a problem because I learned to always always jump around a corner.
-
Ok then. Problem solved. There wasn't really a need for the nerf because it was easy to counter already.
-
No what the nerf did was allow me and other players to dodge a sniper bullet, then shoot and get the kill. What it took away from snipers was being able to be patient while being shot, line up the one shot, and still get the kill when they were about to die. There's a counter. I still get killed while shooting a sniper, but it's a lot more rare. It happened way too often. It was at the point that if you saw a sniper, you either had to snipe back or risk a rush and probably lose if the sniper was talented.
-
Ok. You're just rephrasing all the same things you've said at this point. I'm done.
-
Ya I might be. I don't really remember what we were talking about. It was hours ago and I don't care enough anymore to keep going at this. I just want to take a shower and smoke a blunt at this point. That's what I'm gonna do.

Im not sure why you want something to be purely luck based, wouldnt that just destroy any inkling of consistent balance. For a 10 ft engagement purely, everyone would choose a shotty or fusion or sidearm, as they are just better at that distance, but in a match with multiple engagements at many distances i use a sniper because i know that if iput the time in and have the skill i can consistently kill at any range. Thats the beauty of the sniper rifle in almost all shooters. Shottys are much easier and more consistent at short range, but that doesnt mean snipers should be locked out of cqc engagements altogether.

Go back to mw1 and try to kill with a sniper at 5 ft. The sway and reticle positioning when initial ads makes it nearly impossible. Battlefield same thing but different. Snipers are not meant to be used at 5 feet. I give destiny a little room because the maps are so small. But destiny gives more sniper advatage than any other game. At least any popular games. That's pretty well known.
-
Battlefield. Is not. Anything. Like destiny. Battlefield has bullet drop bullet velocity and tons of other things that make it a realistic shooter. So it makes sense that snipers hang back and hardscope more because thats realism. Destiny is not a realistic fps.
-
The fact you had to tell me battlefield isn't destiny shows you just don't think I'm intelligent and find me a whining baby. I know the difference. How about halo. See they made snipers act differently. Again. You won't use a sniper at 10 feet away. But they added descoping with also an easier no scope shot. This is my point. Every game balances snipers in a certain way. Destiny. Especially in y2, did not. There was no real mechanical counter for them. Now they added one, which Is great. And it seems all the snipers are Pissed because their easy kills were taken away. I just don't get how people argue over snipers being fine in destiny. Lol. Like Jesus christ. They had no mechanical counter and we're the most effective gun in the game, and snipers are like ya, that's balanced. No! Balance means every gun is just as effective in the same amount of situations as every other gun. Balance. Balance. Balance.

Modern warfer or cod in general had to implement an additional aspect ti snipers in the form of idle sway, because in that game you only have to hit the body for a kill. Destiny requires precision headshots, so doesnt require idle sway to balance it
-
And destiny has a setting that auto centers your aimer so snipers can keep their guns at head level without even having to worry about it. But ya that's balanced too I'm sure. Not to mention the fact that a good roll for a sniper has alot to with how much aim assist it gives you instead of range, handling, number of bullets, or stability. Snipers are more effective in destiny than like any other game I've ever played. That's what I'm saying. So for everyone who says snipers are balanced in this game is basically saying bungie did it better than every other developer. And we all know that's just bullshit. Snipers in destiny were created to work well in pve. And they did it right. But it didn't translate to pvp well. It's not your fault. But I find it funny that everyone says bungie sucks at balancing everything except snipers, the best most effective weapon in the game. I'm sure you've convinced yourself snipers are fine. I don't know why. But the plain simple truth, is bungie -blam!-ed up Balance in general when it comes to pvp. Sidearms suck even after their huge buff. Only 5 people realize that fusions are the perfect counter for shotguns, rockets are the only heavy used in trials. I main autos, and even I can say I do better when I use scouts and pulses and handcannons. The simple fact is bungie -blam!-ed up in so many ways, especially when it comes to balance in pvp with subclasses and weapons, the chance that you're correct, that they got snipers right, is extremely small.
-
Oh no, in their current state I definitely dont think they are fine
