As the title suggests, could the world actually live without religion? Religion has been with us, and has formed societies we know of today. They have been a major part of our culture, and they have helped us grow and come together as humans. But then again, they have separated and started wars and smaller
individual conflicts as well. There are alot of benefits and drawbacks with religion.
But what if religion never existed? Where do you think we would be, and why?
-
Yes. It's be one less thing dividing our species.
-
Without religion the human race would have weeded out a bunch of the weaker minded individuals and we'd be left with a race of mentally strong, independent humans.

4 RepliesJust leaving this here The dark ages cost the world over a century of scientific advancements
-
4 RepliesOf course. There's nothing you can accomplish in life with religion that you can't accomplish without.
-
Yes. It would probably be a much different place if humans hadn't based their life around faiths for the past thousands of years. We'd probably be more advanced and enlightened.
-
There'd be a lot less pain and suffering
-
Probably.
-
Smh, of course. We would be better off without it.

No to many people seem to feel the only thing stopping them from -blam!- and pillaging is religion

If religion never existed, then yes the world could function without it.

Edited by H3ADxCA53xNS4NE: 5/19/2016 12:44:47 PMProb not, most people rely on a higher being that keeps them going, feel safe, and good values to live by. So I think if you take religion out of the mix it would be crazy. I think religion was made up by man anyways as a form of crowd control, you control the masses by brainwashing them into believing they will burn forever if you don't abide by x amount of rules and pay x amount to the church. Load of crap imo Edited all my -blam!-ing typos, geez gotta start proof reading
-
I actually think it wouldn't. Humans need to be able to answer questions that they don't know the answer to. For example "what happens after death?". The idea that you just don't exist anymore is honestly terrifying so humans create religion that tells them what happens after death. Without that people kind of break down and have their midlife crisis.
-
It would be better without it now, though even I admit it was needed to keep law and order in more primitive times.

1 ReplyIf you want my opinion the world can't live without religion purely because people will repeatedly ask the same question and invariably create a religion regardless of if all current ones were destroyed
-
-
Well i say that religion was fine up until they stopped the progression of tech, and getting people to think certain inventions were "black magic"

1 ReplyFaiths were an important part of early human development, since it helped community's form/grow/stick together. However, this is caveman era, and since a religion has to have a minimum number of members to be a religion, i do not believe these count. Therefore, we would probably be in a similar state, or more technologically advanced, when compared to our current circumstance.
-
Yeah. Definitely.
-
We would be fine, probably more advanced, but nothing much would change. We would find ways to hate eachother for other stupid reasons instead.

If nobody believed, then i would simply leave you all to die and start over elsewherw.

8 RepliesYes we can. If it never existed, we would be exploring the galaxy by now. Interstellar travel would be a thing. Thanks Christian dark ages for slowing everything down.
-
15 RepliesWe'd be a full 1000 years advanced with maybe space ship and time travel. Religion did cause the 1000 year dark ages
