Now, before you start bitching (if you start bitching I'm assume you didn't read the post, making you a dumbass. Unless....no wait, there's no if's. And if you say "its a year 1 gun, let it rot there," then I'm assume you're a bigger dummy that deserves Red's foot up your ass. That 70's Show reference BTW), I just want to make clear that this isn't for PvP.
See, I'm probably one of the few people who actually used thorn for PvE activity. What's not to love about the burn and over penetrating round? And it has a nice look to it. Really like that oily black. If only PvP restricted Exotics and just left them for Mayhem. Honestly, PvP ruined a lot of great weapons (TLW, Thorn, Vex, Fusions, Shotguns, Autos, Pulse, Handcannons, Mida, etc.) and abilities (Bladedancers, Stormcaller, Hammer of Sol.) just to please the folks of PvP because everyone is so caught up in making this a competitive game.

You're wrong.

Amen to that brother, PvP is killing the Fun.

I miss vanilla thorn. It was a precision weapon then... The small mag and long reload ment it took a dead shot to really use it. The burn wasn't enough to save you if you couldn't land headshots.
-
Sorry, no!! Thorn is a pest!!!

I miss ice breaker :(

I miss it for PvE myself too Guardian. It is still my favorite weapon

2 RepliesPeople seem to forget how terrible it was before they buffed it. ~ INDY

Yeah I feel ya, thorn was surprisingly good for me while doing strikes and patrols. Obviously it was quite popular in PVP, and that bounty for it, ooohhhh whee!!! Made me cry in my sleep it was so rough for me. Too bad bungle never implemented custom matches in PVP. (Holding out some hope they might do this in the sequel)

I use to use it for patrol and VoG. Back then it was the only decent HC I had (6 round mag). But then I got a vender lord high fixer. But I've always like the pocket sniper style HC. I run mostly the first curse now.

I just tried out thorn yesterday. Tbh wish I tried it out in year 1 if I ever had destiny back then. Every shot feels powerful and I can see why people complained. Dredgen Yor would be ashamed of how his weapon turned out.

I miss Thorn too

1 ReplySame tbh even when the gun was meta I really didn't complain about the weapon

I believe we will see the last two exotic bounty weapons come forward, we are missing pocket infinity and thorn. The only two weapons bungie has officially stated was staying year 1 was icebreaker and gally. Thorn I believe they are trying to make it has balanced as possible before bringing it forward. As thorn stands now, it is not OP at all it actually feels weak compared to Hawkmoon luck bullets two shot, and first curse two shot headshot. Now, I'm not saying it needs to be put back to a three damage dot with it lasting for around six ticks. But the arctype that thorn is in of low impact handcannon is just weak feeling. I love thorn it was my first exotic and I still use it even now, but right now it just feels like I'm using a legendary handcannon. Maybe putting dot back to three and leaving the duration alone or vice versa will be fine. But as it stands I think we will be seeing some of the other year 1 weapons come forward

We lost thorn but got sleeper so its ok.

1 ReplyGod I hated that era. Everyone used thorn or tlw. It sucked.

I remember first time I saw thorns DoT effect was on winter run, on the boss. I was in amazement and was thrilled when I got the bounty a month later.

1 ReplyI miss House of Wolves

You go!!

1 Replymissed when destiny was good

2 RepliesI just miss Handcannons being viable in both PvP & PvE. The range and accuracy are very poor and inconsistent now.

I saw a dumbass claim Thorn was trash in PvE and only useful for Crucible. Granted, he could have been trolling, but he sounded serious. A simple balance to it would be to reduce rate of fire and increase reload time. The DoT will prevent enemy shields from recharging while you slowly take your next shot/reload.
