TL;DR: If you use the word "adapt" when it comes to weapon balance, you're most likely ignorant to what weapon balance is and should stop saying it.
Whenever I see some use the word "adapt" when it comes to weapon balance, I automatically disregard anything else that person has to say. I can't help it.
"Adapting" has nothing to do with balance and it's an incredibly ignorant argument. It's shows that, instead of actually making any points against something being OP, the person dumps any responsibility on people that make the original criticism.
It's lazy, it's boring and down right lame.
Back during the days of TLW vs Thorn, I heard this "argument" every single post even thought everyone knows how unbalanced it was; why? Because it's soooo much easier to just say that the person making the argument can't adapt, that they are scrubs.
No matter how OP something is, there is always someone spewing out the word "adapt" and that just exudes ignorance.
If you think Firebolts are OP adapt!
If you think Snipers are OP adapt!
If you think Hunters, Wombo Combos, Mida, TLW, Skip Grenades or anything is OP, well, just adapt!!!
See what I mean?
So please, next time you feel like telling someone to adapt, think about how you want others to perceive you; because you most likely are making yourself look foolish.
Edit: Ok, this is just stupid. The amount of people commenting without even reading the first sentence of my post is beyond ridiculous. I understand not wanted to read a wall of text sometimes, but this post proves that the vast majority of people on this site are children that can't read well. These are the people yelling at Bungie all the time. Idiots.

1 ReplyLol adapt bruh ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

2 RepliesI read your whole post and im sorry that your thoughts are falling on deaf ears(from you edit). Ive tried on more then one occation to post something on the forums to help show people other ways of thinking, but there was never anyone that cared.

3 RepliesBut you do need to adapt, there's no sugar coating it. Does that dismiss the validity of a weapon being OP? Of course not, but at the same time, you need to understand how to fight against a weapon before you can make a judgement call on whether or not something is indeed OP or not. If a new player joins the game, and he's getting destroyed by Fusion Rifles (lol) he'll feel like those weapons are OP. If he's using it, and he gets confused on the charge time before burst firing, he'll feel like it's UP. He has to adapt and understand the way the weapon works so he can fight with and against it. It's not the word 'adapt' that's your problem. It's the context in which you use the word, that is your problem, and I agree.

2 RepliesI think we can all agree that the vex was THE very definition of OP back in the day. Lol
-
There's things you adapt to. Special weapons, approaching people was different for when each was good. Vex? That shit was busted
-
Well... It's a good point
-
3 Replies"TLW wrecks at close range? Adapt and stay at medium to long range" Dafuq kinda advice is that?
-
1 ReplyI've read your whole post like 3 times and still can't understand what you're trying to say.
-
1 ReplyYou're an ignorant kid.
-
3 RepliesI agree with you dude. Everyone has to adapt to some degree depending on what gun they're using, but jeez Thorn and TLW were so overpowered it was crazy. There's no adapting to that.

1 ReplyOp forgets about the vex before it was nerfed

4 RepliesThe fact that you tried to back up thorn and tlw shows that you werent playing destiny back in the day or you just forgot. They were complete horseshit back in the day. Thorn was worse than it is now, even now its sort of viable. Bungo had to buff them a bit and then the cancer started to form. Theres no such thing as a good player in destiny if hes going for the strongest weapon. Its not their fault either. Theres a weapon balancing issue. Back when rift was released, i had the most fun in crucible. Everyone was using something different.

1 ReplyYou make a post where the title seemingly sums up everything you need to know about the post and then get salty because people didn't want to waste time reading a wall of text? If you want people to read the entire post title it appropriately instead of trying to be cute.
-
1 ReplyIf you want people to read your post, put 'No weapon has ever been unbalanced, just adapt' part in inverted commas.
-
The only op was the mythoclast back in the day
-
Adapting to so many people using snipers ruins the game modes like control and rift, as people camp and avoid objective play
-
I've been getting killed more recently by Hard Light, therefore I think it must be OP lol... Some kills are luck with any gun and some is just the shooter having the one up on you so I agree with you that nothing is OP really... Doctrine of Passing seems like a cool gun that id like to have but I've seen people just spraying it and not able to hit me in a 1v1 run in, so it's not the gun, but the player

The real definition of an OP weapon isn't so much a matter of how powerful it is, but how powerful it is compared to other weapons. You need to first take a look at how the weapon is compared to others of its same class. For instance, Thorn vs other handguns. Then you need to look at how it is compared to other weapons of the same type. For instance, Thorn vs all other primaries. In PvP, the primary thing to look at is time to kill and ease or use. If it's time to kill is ranked higher than the overwhelming majority of all other weapons in its type, and it is easy to use and has no substantial downsides, then it can be considered OP. The weapons that the majority of players gravitate to can tell you a lot about the current meta and what can be considered OP in comparison to other weapons. Doctrine of Passing, Mida, TLW, snipers in general, are all currently seeing a huge portion of the player base utilizing them. They can greatly help average players be good, good players be great, and great players be God like. I'm personally of the camp that believes more weapons need to be brought up to their status, rather than trying to push them down to (nerf) to put them more in line with others. Well with the exception to snipers. An entire class of weapon ruling heads and shoulders above all others of its type (in this case secondary) should really draw attention. IMHO, snipers should be more akin to what they are in the real world. Absolute terrorizing monsters when they are setup in a location, but not something you would ever even think of running and gunning with. My idea for a fix. There is no pulse rifle currently in the meta. I think the entire class needs a stability increase to better help headshots with. Handguns need faster handling and better aim assist, except on the TLW and Thorn. They also need a buff in ammo reserves to make them more appealing in PvE. The DoP rules all auto rifles right now, largely because of the extreme amounts of ammo allowing for spray and play with one of the highest TTK in the game. Answer by increasing magazine size of high and med impact auto rifles by 40%. Scout rifles are in a good place now, but they should all give a slightly harder jar to targets sights, much like Mida currently allows. Shotguns, leave as is. Fusion rifles, increase range by 20%. Snipers, increase ADS time and weapon switch to and storing times dramatically. These changes should greatly allow for a better leveling of the playing field in both PvP and PvE.

4 RepliesAdapt- AH- DAPT (Verb) To make something suitable for a new use or purpose; To modify FLIPPA hated snipers in Trials of Osiris so he took out his party crasher and adapted his performance to shoot scrubs from the other side of the map.

And people wonder why crucible is considered babys first fps >.<

I hope to god a lot of these comments on this post is sarcasm. If not please read.

Maybe we should make all the guns shoot bubbles and pixie dust. When it hits you instead of it killing you it just makes you fall in love with the shooter.

2 RepliesWow finally it is said on these forums. Ive tried to tell people before but you have said it much better than I ever have.

4 RepliesPlease be satire

5 RepliesFalse. Were you here when the Vex Mythoclast had a 56 clip and could kill 6 or 7 guardians without reloading? That's when nerfs started. The Vex was claerly OP, it was like walking around with a machine gun all the game.
