Sniping help

So I know I may get a lot of crap for this but I am CONSTANTLY getting sniped in destiny, which I really don't have a problem with. With that said tho I have always really liked sniping but I was always kinda sucky at it. Does anyone have any advice or tips on how to get better at it in destiny? Should I just be using my 1000 yard stare? (Don't hate me for saying that). I'm average at best, but I would like to get better. Any thing you guys have to say would be greatly appreciated thanks!

  • Try no land beyond . I found me it easier to snipe on that sight that first than any other sight.

Sensitivity should be 2-6. Lower = easier. Find all the good sniping lanes, sit back and watch those until you fell comfortable with a sniper, then aggressive pushes. Always keep the scope head level, even when you're running. Make sure you know good scopes. AKA Shortgaze, ambush, tacsys, and Longview SLR10. Make sure you don't get frustrated. Know the map and the surrounding lanes and flanks of your position. Use a short range primary. Last word and doctrine are the best IMO Trust me, I have the KD (trials) and Medal score to back myself up. That's all my advise really.

    • You need to read this carefully. First. Aim at person. Second. Shoot. Third. Deflect hate messages. Done.

    • The best way to get good at sniping is to pick up a Conspiracy Theory-D. Probably has the best range of all snipers, plus the best impact, not to mention it can res snipe! Pick one up asap, you won't regret it.

        • The higher aim assist snipers are glass promontory and iron banner one. 1000 yard stare is like 6th on the list but I use it because there's only a few that can res snipe for trials. One of my big things is lining up your shot before you aim through the scope. It takes getting used to, but if you have your gun at head level and then aim through the scope you'll find head shots are much easier. Beyond that you gotta get used to "drag scoping". Which is moving your reticle across the screen quickly and when you swipe it past their head, pull the trigger.

          • Watch some of the better YouTubers for sniping to tips. True vanguard is really good. Your 1k doesn't have very good scopes. Shortgaze or Longview slr10 are probably the best beginner friendly scopes to use.

            • I would say stay out of sniping lanes mostly... Don't challenge if you're not the best sniper. Also if you haven't done taken war earth yet it gives you one hell of a thousand yard. May I also suggest you watch very good destiny players
I like hovey and true vanguard
• I would say practice, find good sniping lanes, aim at head level, and anticipate your enemy (when they're gonna pop out, but don't actually shoot until you see them). Particularly practice. Once you get a feel for it, don't be afraid to try to line up shots quicker than you're used to. You might miss, but pushing yourself can help you improve. And from what I hear, thousand yard stare is good. I learned on the longbow synthesis, apparently they're very similar.

I don't have much to say but 1. Aim your sniper at head level 2. Don't be afraid to make body shots 3. Know the map and your surroundings 4. Find the scope you're most comfortable with 5. Perks I recommend are Hidden Hand, Snapshot or Unflinching 6. Git gud 7. Stillpiercer is one of my favorite sniper for trials in taken king (try it if you're a hunter)

              • Work on strafing. Adjust your sensitivity so your aim doesn't go everywhere. Be calm. Don't focus on winning or doing objectives until you're comfortable with the sniper. Go into strikes and make a goal for headshots. Good practice on moving targets. Now when you get comfortable with the gist of sniping... Learn the maps. If a sniper doesn't have a scope you're comfortable with, don't use it (I usually use Tacsys scopes). You don't have to aim for the head, but it's always good to aim at head level. MOVE AROUND THE MAP. Don't stay in one place, as another sniper will definitely find you and get you within a few seconds. Find someone who can give you tips in-game (meaning a friend, LFG, or someone from the forums).

              • Not gonna lie, I feel like I suck at sniping. So the other day I took out my praedyths revenge to practice and did fairly well with it. I missed that gun :D

              • Use any sniper u like. Don't just use 1K bc everyone else is. I do better with erienerr4 idk why I just am not that great with 1K even tho it's easier to use. Usually u want to use 1K in pvp and eriene in Pve, but I just use eriene

                • Choosing a sniper based off of stats isn't the best choice. Try out different snipers in PvE and see which one you like the most. AA works a little different in PvE and PvP but getting the feel of the sniper is more important. Once you get good with that sniper then you can start mixing it up. Map and opponent awareness are the most important trait to master. If you have equal snipers the only thing that would make a difference is who sees who first. Also, I recommend bringing your sniper in rumble because you have to hit shots and be quick on your feet. At first you will fail but as you get more accustomed to your sniper you will start to understand the sight lines, scopes and perks that fit your playstyle.
