I remember the days when my fireteam and I were going to the lighthouse almost every weekend. Now, apparently its only possible if you play the game for a F'ing living!
We range from light 302-306 and as soon as we hit 7 wins the table is flipped completely upside down. I guess bungie decided not to incorporate light level into the matchmaking? Its all about how many wins you have. Nice move guys.
So if you can't raid and you rely on trials to get the best rewards, think again, because its near god damn impossible getting to the lighthouse now.
It's funny how we only see guys around 313-316 light, and guns that are 20 light lvls higher than ours when we get that far.
Does anyone else have an issue with the new matchmaking? I feel like the best endgame activity is going downhill and its sad to see.

1 ReplyIt makes 7-8-9 wins more fun and challenging

Edited by Thiallfi: 12/8/2015 6:34:12 PMThe light level power gap you are describing is almost non existent. Me and my team are 307-310 and we go flawless every week(agains 315+ teams) . We aren't infallible tho, sometimes teams outperform us,but their light level is never the reason we lose. I went flawless the first week as a 298 with a 299 and a 300. We took out teams that were 306+ all the way through. You were either a thorn scrub in y1 and can't perform without your crutch or you are psyching yourself out hella hard due to some tiny number differences. Trials is honestly much easier this year with ,no thorn,no tlw,and no perfectly rerolled weapons.

Its easy, me and my team go flawless each week. Just play smart

Edited by Symbology: 12/8/2015 6:46:33 PMDamage is by overall light level. You could have a 320 gun and be light level 250 and still get shit on. Furthermore, you say you don't raid? Completing a raid takes the same amount of time a flawless run does. Also, trials armor drops at 5 wins. Not 9. You also have iron banner once a month and the rank 5 package gives gear 310-320. Instead of bitching, how about you git gud and try playing the game. Then again, you could have been one of those thron crutch players for year one trials. If that's he case, you don't deserve the lighthouse. Edit: you have not even gone flawless that many times year one.

1 ReplyAnd I still haven't gone to the Lighthouse. :D PvE players unite!

1 ReplyI actually enjoy the challenge. I've been 8-0 like 4 times and lost in close matches. With the new weapon patch I'd like to see some more diversity in the gun play but the biggest problem I still have with trials is the cheating/bad connections. It just ruins the experience because its nothing you can do about it.
-
I went flawless first week at 285 and 292. Got past 300 on all 3 characters because of trials :) I don't do pve
-
Incorrect sir. I went flawless as a 303
-
1 ReplyIf they factored in light level then people would just take their gear off to get easy targets.
-
We have the same issue. Problem is match making with light level wouldn't help. People we play against switch for costume pieces thinking the light level is matched. People would just try to chat the system.
-
I can use icebreaker most matches at 298-302 light and still do good so?
-
Yeah went flawless last week with my 2 buddies using Icebreaker... so there's that.
-
I think that was the point. In my opinion, players at my skill level really don't deserve the light house, yet I went there plenty of times in year one. They're trying to make it harder and more competitive. But I have noticed as well that it really seems like things take a dramatic turn at 7 wins.
-
I got 8 and 0 with no boons and lost cause both of my teammates got booted. One managed to join back but it wasn't enough.
-
Dude you must suck pretty bad at trials XD. My teammates and I played on our 306, 305, and 307 and we do fine
-
The only thing that really screws you is if someone way higher than you uses a spindle, other than that there really is no "huge" difference.
-
Trials was ruined before it even started.
-
It's really all luck I often get a equally hard team at 8 wins and easy teams before took me 7 8-0 before I finally got flawless y2
-
Light level doesn't make any difference tbh. Went there as a 305 and everyone I played was higher.
-
They just made it more competitive
-
The change in difficulty is not very noticeable. You just sound like a wienie
-
It's harder than year one but I got there last night with a guy that had never been before and another guy with a 1.6 kd. We were just randoms but played really well together. We even defended the lighthouse a couple times. I was on my Titan at 310, but earlier in the weekend I couldn't get there with my hunter at 317. In my opinion anything over 300 light is plenty. Trials is all about communication, teamwork and learning how to adapt to how the other team is playing. I am far from good but I enjoy playing trials regardless if I win or loose.
-
I play on about 295-300 light armor, with about 300 light guns. I have experienced no disadvantage in gun fights based on light level. Trials is supposed to be competitive, the matchmaking is fine. I enjoy our trips to the lighthouse much more if we win 3-4 close and tough matches towards the end, as opposed to stomping every team.
