For those that have completed halo 5 campaign, surely you can empathise with me when I say, this is one of the worst endings I've ever witnessed for a game with a seemingly good story to begin with.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
This is what happens in the end mission:
(Catch up; cortana is evil. All you need to know)
> free Master Chief (As locke) from Cortana
> Cortana teleports away
> cortana terrorises earth in mass EMP
> basically your whole 'crusade' is pointless
> heroes survive
> story ends with chief and locke walking into a tent.
> unsc infinity warps away leaving earth (I think its earth, a populated planet anyhow) vulnerable
> Screen goes black.
> Credits.
THERE IS NO POINT TO THIS STORY OTHER THAN SAVING MASTERCHIEF (yeah he's kinda important) but literally nothing you do in the end effects the outcome of what would happen if you simply didn't bother.
Its late, I'm fuming and cant be arsed reading over what I just wrote. Ignore Grammar mistakes.

3 RepliesPeople have apparently forgotten about the halo 2 ending.
-
I liked the ending, I thought it was quite a good cliffhanger.
-
Legendary ending? More like legendary cliffhanger!
-
I'm not displeased with the story. I just finished it like 15 minutes ago. It's obviously not like 10/10 IGN, but, I enjoyed it. I think the characters should have like, been developed more though. They didn't make enough time to get to know them. My favourite moments in the campaign were the few times in the last couple missions where Chief and Locke were actually co-operating. I loved how Locke put down his gun when he approached Blue Team near the end even though they were aiming at him.
-
2 RepliesWell It was bad yeah but for me it was well alright/acceptable since it is setting the scene for the last part of the trilogy Halo 6 even though that ending/cliffhanger left a sour taste to my mouth, I find myself intrigue on what is going to happen next.

4 RepliesDidn't Halo 2 end on a cliffhanger? That game had my favorite campaign.
-
1 ReplyTo be fair, the ending of Halo 4 wasn't much better. "Oh boy! finally a showdown with the last boss! *Press button to sticky him*... What... That was it...? Wow."
-
They pulled a Halo 2 just saying and oh boy it's insulting
-
It's basically an MP only game now, they don't even bother pretending that the story is important.

6 RepliesEdited by Friendlystu: 10/29/2015 9:07:22 PMto be honest this game felt a lot more like it should've been start of the trilogy even then the story was lacking completely. with Locke and his Linear attitude to everything and recall of lore for each of his teammates during the campaign nothing hardly felt fresh at all. Then theres the Chief who just gets Sidelined for for Half of the story. What was the whole point of Roland losing his temper only to cut off at that point and never come back to it. It would seem yet again half of the story 343 put in the game is all bit melo compared to actual drama.

3 RepliesYou have to have a story to have a cliffhanger
-
9 RepliesHalo 5: 2nd in set trilogy. You are trying to find out why Chief went AWOL, and in the process, you find out he's pursuing a force bent on taking over, much like the Didact. It ends in a very similar cliffhanger way to Halo 2, which I think is intentional. Destiny: Cookiecutter character revived after being dead for unknown time is told some vague threat exists to an equally vague dormant savior satellite. Throughout the "story" missions, you learn almost nothing about what is going on, and in the end, you kill the literal Heart of Darkness. You then proceed to kill Atheon, Crota, and Skolas, all of whom seem to have 0 connection to the Heart of Darkness. Where are these similar?

79 RepliesOnly real halo players understand that halo was never about the campaign and we never gave a shit about it.

Cortana leaves a policing Guardian then goes to another Halo.
-
4 RepliesLol, even now 343's still chasing after Bungie. In all seriousness, I think the story was okay. Could have been expanded on in a lot of places; to me it did definitely sort of have that Destiny-like feeling where they opened a lot of plot points but didn't really spend as much time as they could have or should have on a good number of them. Unless they take it in a direction more towards trying to redeem Cortana when Halo 6 inevitably comes I can't really see myself excited for that story; it honestly feels a little bit draining to think they brought her back just magically turned into one of these crazy prophetic type villains (Yes, she was going rampant eventually and is hooked into the Forerunner network but in Halo 5 when she shows up that process is complete, there's no real transition just "I'm evil now") and we're just going to straight-up annihilate her. With how her personality is now I can't really imagine how they'd make any alternative method feel right, though, so killing former allies without hesitation it is then.
-
You didn't even talk about the Destiny style mission we got for the final mission, lol. Go to icon to icon and shoot an orb then stand in a room and fight off progressively irritating enemies then get farted to the credits. ...and I thought Halo 4's ending was terrible.
It is
But, this is possibly worse!
-
2 RepliesI suggest putting story spoilers in a spoiler box next time
-
Sounds to me like an "Empire Strikes Back" type of ending
-
It's 343, what did you expect
-
I would have to agree with statements below. It's the second game in a trilogy & feels very much like Halo 2 ending. It set up who the spartans are fighting & why. Of course it adds some questions to why the forerunners couldn't beat the flood with all the tech they had, but that's offtopic on this "offtopic"
-
Why do you need your mum to read you a bedtime story? Just enjoy the sleep.
-
You know it's called a spoiler box for a reason

3 RepliesSeems like you're just butthurt you know how stories work right retard? There's a beginning, middle, and end. 343 is telling a story like bungie is with destiny not every game has to adhere to what you think it should. And a lot happened and a few issues were solved but you want to focus on the bad cause you're just that kind of person. They pretty much ended the covenant, saved Halsey, fleshed out Locke and chief some more, and set up the story for an epic halo 6 where I can finally see chief stopping cortana by somehow sacrificing himself, dying with her.
-
Just finished it on legendary completed in 8 hours feeling very disappointed after all the hype poor effort 343 poor

3 RepliesWhy is Cortana evil?!?!? Wtf 343
