I made this post simply to see if anyone shared my frustration with the recent Patch to Destiny's crucible. I am all for accurate damage drop off and trying to encourage people to use a variety of weapons, but I dont agree with being forced to use pulse rifles in order to stay in the Meta.
I've seen every phase crucie has been through and was here for the dreaded Thorn/TLW outbreak, but even then; people weren't so much complaining about the range and effectiveness of all Handcannons but just the afore-mentioned headaches.
I dont agree with handcannon accuracy being stomped on and also tickling the opponents i do manage to hit from mid range.
Even when using Hawkmoon max BS damage is 60 compared to the 64 damage it did. With HS doing 90 - 122 (157 with 2 stacked bullets) compared to the 94 -126 damage that used to give this gun its strength.
I can't tell you how many people seem to: A~phase through bullets not even talking latency or B~ giggle after I tickle them with my new water gun, Aka Survive with slivers of health.
Im so tired of getting the first shot on someone and dying because of weapon choice even when its in its intended range. PulseRifles seem to be more accurate and also have no damage drop off making Hand cannons useless and putting them in that same spot Scout rifles were in before 2.0.
I hope we can all agree to my main point: if Handcannons are to be so inaccurate, there should be much less damage drop off... or buff accuracy so that i dont feel blind and dumb shoting at an enemy charging straight at me, but still missing 3 of 6 shots fired even if they dont hurt him/her I atleast know im not going crazy...
Dont even get me started on Snipers in crucie... let me know how you all have been fairing. I welcome all conversation to the topic!
Edit# 1: Broke it up cause of reading complaints lol.
Edit# 2: Thanks to everyone for sharing their feedback and being civil (for the most part) with their contributions. I really do appreciate all of constructive contributions.
Edit# 3: found an amazingly rolled Eyasluna in crucie and its so much better than my Hawkmoon.
Check my Titan out if you wanna see its specs. It feels like a year one HC with the ranges its been hitting people from and the accuracy it has.
All my shots even from far ranges hit and with accurate Damage drop i cant snipe people but I've been decimating PR at that med to short range! I had shed a few tears when I realized how accurate the gun was...
I personally still hold true to my post, but I've atleast found 1 gun that isn't blind or rebellious. See you all in the crucie, Gaurdians! Gods-speed if we face off in our trainings! ;)

Ive been destroyed by hand cannons plenty of times. I assume more gun skill is required now than ever before.
-
1 ReplyHa. If anything, Hand Cannons need to be nerfed more.

Edited by SMmod: 10/7/2015 12:11:20 PMThe issue I have is with The Last Word. It was a headache before and needed some sort of nerf, but now it is rendered useless in competition with a range equal to longer ranged shotguns. To make my frustration greater is the quest revolving around a useless gun. I'm not the greatest at using it but I will prevail. Using it in crucible has caused me to hide and surprise enemies around corners or run before its out gunned. - rant over Edit: I just read ImaniHype post below and would have to agree

Noooooope

Edited by ImaniHype: 10/7/2015 7:29:02 AMIMO HCs are still very viable, but takes a lot more finesse to use. Gone are the days where spamming the trigger button can get you derp kills like how Pulse Rilfes and, to an extent, Scout Rilfes can do right now. Developing a rhythm in how you line up shots to be accurate 99% of the time is key to win firefights. Even if they are not headshots, 100% accuracy 3 hit bullet will win almost always, but the time of window for that 3 shot also depends on your opponents potential TTK weapon and how good they use them. I've used Thorn plenty of times in Y2, it's still decent, definitely not what it was though. I used to be that derp guy who spams the trigger button and Thorn would auto win for me, but because I'm a scrub I'd rather follow the Meta. Why should I work for a kill when another weapon can get it twice as easy? (only talking primaries.)

They need a buff to range, reload speed, and/or mag size. Damage is bearable. But just barely with the new guns.
-
Just the range I used to love them in pve now they suck
-
You described exactly how I feel every time I try out a different legendary hc, firefly or nah it feels like a damn watergun. I'm almost scared to bother continuing the farm for a imago loop at this point
-
I agree. They are not on the same level with pulserifles and scouts. They need a slight buff.
-
1 ReplyDon't forget the reserve ammo nerf. Makes it useless in pve with only 60-90~ rounds even with ammo perks on chest piece. Compare that to 200-300 for scouts and even higher for pulse and auto rifles.
-
snipers and hand cannons should not have as much damage falloff as they do. I feel like my hawk moon is so inaccurate now and they also nerfed the damage. Hawkmoon used to do 94 to the head now it does 88 bungie said they were nerfing aggressive ballistics however even with accurized ballistics the hawkmoon still does under 90 damage.
-
-
Nope, it's fine how it is
-
2 RepliesWell, my decent ranged HC with hammer forged has a damage fall off that starts about 10-15ft away......pretty much just outside melee range Range on everything seems to be nerfed, even snipers are showing damage by fall off in patrol areas......not even that far.....
-
Hawkmoon still kills extremely quickly. Other than it though, all other hand cannons are kinda left behind in Crucible.
Ace of Spades wrecks shit up in PvE :)
-
2 RepliesIf they overdid it, it was only slightly. I am very excited to face off against less Hand Cannons now and I have no problems using them after the patch. Sure there are close fights that I thought I should have won. It has pushed me to use some different primaries. All in all, I think the PVP tweaks have been a positive step. It is so nice to not get sniped by shotguns anymore.
-
They still need a base damage nerf hawk moon kills to fast
-
Shotguns nerfed to much? PvE only
-
I am really feeling the range nerf in both PvP and PvE. The drop off is annoying since I used to always go for max ranged HCs since they allowed for more accuracy and range and now, those once beloved perks are worthless.
-
I don't care about the rest just my awesome Hawkawesome come back !
-
Why were they nerfed in pve I just don't understand it.
-
I don't use em' anymore.
-
3 RepliesDon't even notice an accuracy nerf. Also I can agree that pulse rifles are OP. The weakest impact one does more damage than a suros regime and can shoot really fast. The red death is currently unbalanced at 34 damage a head shot and being able to shoot fast
-
Agreed I'm an auto rifle fan but I do use hand cannons from time to time. The accuracy at close range is absolutely horrible. I'm sick of lining up head shots only for the rounds to go to the far left or right of my target at close range let alone medium to longer medium range. Accuracy should have been left alone during the 2.0 update in favor of more severe or complex damage fall off. I would have preferred a 2 step damage fall off where at a certain range the damage drops but not enough to render the weapon useless until a 2nd range limit is hit dropping the damage to extremely low numbers. As it stands now I lose a lot of power at long range and I can't even use critical hits to compensate due to accuracy issues and at close range I have to pray the game doesn't let rng screw with my bullet's path.

1 ReplyHopefully we are not a dying breed...cause unless the situation calls for it I'll always be a gunslinger. (handcannon user not sub)
-
1 ReplyHC's suck nuts comapred to what they were, bungie seriously -blam!- HC's across the board with last nerf, Ive been Hc user since Day 1, i know how they used to feel and how they should and how they do feel now, and well, they suck major nut sack compared to the old days. Only Hc that is wortha crap imo in Destiny 2.0 is Ace of Spades (fully maxed ofc), havent found anything that can compete with that Hc's range, (If anybody is curious how a Hc used to feel, Ace of Spades gives a good broad idea of how they used to be)
