Edit: I guess Bungie has revealed the "something better " for year one players.
Final edit:this post was originally about the "something better" that DeeJ tweeted/posted about for year one players. It appear that it is a new GHOST SHELL, SHADER, EMBLEM, and SPARROW.

Awhile back, when the community was in an uproar over the price packages for the taken King, DeeJ tweeted or posted in the community update (the comment has since been removed) that year one players would receive "something better" than the emotes, etc.
This was in addition to the VIP year one package, because at the time the VIP package was already revealed. I would really like DeeJ to answer the question in regards to the something better. I would like to see this thread stay relevant until he answers the question.
I am also sending DeeJ a tweet everyday asking him this question. Let's not harass DeeJ though, okay.
I am NOT saying that year one players do or do not deserve anything special, so please, let's not turn it into an argument over that.
I am simply seeking an answer to what DeeJ put out there to calm the storm.
So DeeJ, is there still a "something better", or was that said just to calm the storm? If you can't say what it is just yet, can you al least acknowledge that it still exists, and maybe when it can be revealed?

Edit 1: Seems like the consensus is the moments of triumph emblem. I contend that this emblem was always a part of Bungie's plan (to keep people playing) and they are conveniently using it as the "something better".
Something better shouldn't have a bunch of requirements, in my opinion.

Edit 4: many people are suggesting the VIP rewards. Maybe it is, I thought they were announced before the "something better " statement. I may be wrong. Bungie has not said what they are doing for the people who bought the collectors editions. They did say information to come shortly. Whatever shortly means, I don't know.

Should be an exotic class item that grants xp bonuses. Instead of giving it to kindagaurdians who buy year two, TTK ultra special bonus collectors limited edition. B.S.

1 ReplyI was actually talking about this stuff with some of my clan members the other night. They said a raid was coming this summer, they said there would be more content dropping for HoW throughout the summer and that there was still more to be revealed about year 1 player VIP packages which I have heard nor seen anything about.

13 RepliesI don't care what the reward is, nor do I believe I'm entitled to anything special or extraordinary, I just think it's way past time for some accountability. I'd like to see this question addressed because it WAS pledged, it was promised, and it was implied to be revealed in a forthcoming update, and thus far, it's been quietly ignored. I like this game, but I'm getting tired of being manipulated and lied to.

Maybe it's exotic weapons? It's possible that all year one weapons will be exclusive. So year two players won't ever be aw to get those weapons again? Plus year one exclusive weapons would be pretty cool.

1 ReplyI stumbled upon this 2 month old article earlier looking for something else. It's from Eurogamer and right at the top it says that Deej supposedly promised to tell us all what the "Something Better" was going to be in the update that week. The article is from 6/23. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-22-destiny-the-taken-king-director-defends-40-expansion-price-tag So I went back and re-read the update from that week. It was in two parts, but only the first part has anything that is relevant to this discussion. https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update--06242015/en/News/News?aid=13090 About 2/3 of the way down, there is the headline “Hey, I’ve been here since day one. What do I get?” And just below that, the big description of something we all already know, the VIP Rewards for year 1 players. So that's it guys. That's the big reward. A sparrow, a shader, a year 1 emblem and "more at launch." Perhaps the more at launch will be the something big we're all looking for.

1 ReplyA emblem doesn't cut it. A black shader and a black sparrow (that will likely be yet another reskinned timebreaker or maybe a reskinned tumbler) doesn't cut it. People who pay extra get exotic class items for each class. class items now are tied to stats. They also get extra emotes which is something new. They also get THREE shaders. and it was bad enough on its own, but Bungie made it more insulting to the fans with the shitty "you'll throw your money at the screen for this stuff" comments and then saying "ok, you want it? pay HALF the price of TTK for this stuff". we DESERVE it all for free.

agreed, Deej had a news announcement showing PART 1 when part 2 shows up, NOTHING , NO words about it, no continuing were they left off, just zip and back to the mainstream junk :(
