Destiny 3
If bungie still owns the rights, the ultimate get financial backing call. If I had a spare $400 mill, dreams.
Sony knows, everyone knows. D3 would garner gta type of attention. We waiting.

Still needs to be F2P in theory too. Needs to entirely divorce the existing timeline. Prismatic must not exist. Nor Stasis or Strand. Return to Arc/Void/Solar only. They could revamp the subclasses to a degree, but I personally find the 3.0s quite enjoyable. There are some useless fragments that could be reworked, some new abilities added as well, but overall the game needs to leave The Tower, all the characters we know, and all the enemies we know behind. Exotic Armor should also have some returning pieces but mostly new ones. World needs to be more of an open world like a true MMO. But all that said, D3 would never hold a candle to whatever GTA6 is going to do in terms of playercount and profit.

1 ReplyYou could probably do several good installments for a mere $40m. Clair Obscur allegedly had a budget of $10m and it proved that a budget does not need to be astronomical to deliver quality worth playing.

Yeah, nah. The only way I would play another bungo game is if management was completely removed and new, more understanding management was allowed in, which will never happen. Even if it were to happen, marathon has all of bungos attention. Nothing big destiny related will happen. All I can suggest is to find another game to play. Find some other time-sink.

2 RepliesMaybe 2 or 3 years ago D3 could have done something good for the franchise. It's far too late now. Too many people are bitter (justified) and wanting the game to die and for Bungie to be closed. Even Sony is getting a bad reputation for not stepping-in and doing something to fix it. Even if (especially if) they announced D3 now, people would just assume it will be more of the same incompetence.

3 Repliesbungie said there won't be a destiny 3, they're all in on destiny 2 sony said the same thing sony is also getting fed up with bungie and has already started the process to shut the studio down because of how badly destiny 2 is performing and because indie games are destroying marathon in sales and player count

And you want to hand them over the keys to make a D3? I want a good D3 which means I want it made by another studio. Bungie is an incredibly terrible devlopment studio

Edited by vphokie: 3/24/2026 10:13:42 PMD3 is never happening. Bungie is done with Destiny. And Marathon will make or break the studio. As for Sony continuing the Destiny story? I find it unlikely. I think many of us overestimate the predicted success of D3… it doesn’t even remotely compare to GTA. It’s a 10 year old story that was somewhat poorly told, never easily/fully accessible to newer players, and currently has no real path. The light and darkness saga ended, and with that ended the Destiny that we all knew and loved. What we have now is a half baked plot that really has little of interesting long term substance and was more of a tool to keep the game going. Maybe there are future storylines Bungie have planned that will expand on it and make it more interesting. But, Edge of Fate didn’t do it and Renegades is really only a standalone storyline that was developed to take in money from Star Wars.
