I have a rescued wild desert dog that was found alone at 6 weeks… she’s very wild and hard work but so worth it…what does everyone else have as a companion?

1 ReplyI rescued a kitten the mother abandoned. She was born on my property and was the runt of the litter. At five weeks her mother moved the rest of the litter somewhere else. She cried and cried all by herself. Broke my heart. I kept putting food and water out for her then one time I saw a hawk circling above. I grabbed her, brought her in the house and here she stays. She hid from me for a while. She sleeps on my chest every night.

1 ReplyMy folks raised German Shepherds when I was young and I’ve stuck with that breed. They’re great protectors and have been awesome companions with my kids. My last one passed away a few months ago after 13 years, my daughter wanted an Australian Shepherd this time which is most certainly a change, but he’s fitting right in with my family and our other German Shepherd.

1 ReplyI really would love a dog, preferably a hound dog but I just wouldn't be able to afford any vet bills or such. You know it's pretty bad when pet insurance is a big thing nowadays.

1 ReplyI don't currently have any. I used to have a Black Lab/Rottweiler mix. She was great. I grew up with working Goldens. My parents still have one. I get my dog-fix when I visit...for the 5 minutes that she stays still for a cuddle! 🤣

We have a tortie cat, a Rottweiler mix and 2-3 chihuahuas. The tortie is the one I brought into my relationship, so she's my companion animal out of the bunch.
