Obviously it’s clear why people used to call them that, but as a concept it’s pretty ridiculous when you think about it. Just imagine how fast stars would have to be really moving to be that far away but still going that fast across the sky. Hurtling through the universe at thousands of light years per second like enormous fiery pool balls swallowing whole planets as though they’re M&Ms or otherwise sending all stellar objects flying in all directions due to the haywire gravity…
It’s kinda terrifying tbh.
