Is this something to be concerned about?

Its sunday, around noon, and the game has less players than BF6. Recently EA has laid off BF devs regardless of it being the best selling game of 2025 and having a 747k player peak. BF6 did phenomenally and they werent even safe from layoffs. Considering how bungie nearly shut down destiny over low player count in the past, should we be worried about marathons future considering the poor retention of players? Was it worth it for bungie to shaft their destiny player base for this game?

Definitely, if the game doesn't have 100k by Friday, Sony may make Bungie clean the urinals with their toothbrush. Have you ever had to Brush with a Tooth handle thats been used to clean a head? It's revolting.

They had more developers than they needed to employ after wrapping up development. These people car exclusively about numbers. Bungie won’t be shutdown. Destiny 2 is probably going into maintenance mode though as resources are shifted to gummy bears (dunno if bungie is technically still working in this or not) and the leaked Destiny 3.

      • As the playerbase continues to decline they need to make a decision… is the money we are throwing at this going to ever reverse this decline? Are we ever going to add players again?? I think I know the answer….

      • No, it was not worth it to shaft the Destiny player base. Only time will tell but the writing I've seen on the wall calls for demise.
