No Roadmap? End of an era? Need to keep milking this playerbase for years to fund your exploded Crayola coated, white noise extraction shooter?
Here are some EZ W's so your billion dollar flagship, sole profit IP can fund 12yo's screaming about losing non-binary god-tier loot forever.
#1. Delete the Portal.
Just do it. Streamlining is necessary for a playerbase that's undergoing dissolution and dispersion from this IP, but MORE importantly than the evacuation is the DILUTION. Players are spread too thinly across this franchise. And what's next for the few remaining is extended queue times for simple activities. Return us all to the previous system of Pinnacles, where we are all forced into the same queues, thank you.
#2. Reduce PVP options.
This is again harping on player dilution amongst the queues, but we simply don't need 97 different gamemodes for PVP. 6v6 Control and 3v3 Elim are the ONLY modes that should exist. The pattern should be 1 week Trials; 1 week Iron Banner; 1 week Comp; 1 week Casual. Rinse and repeat. And while I know some Guardian on here who gets off on Mayhem is going to lose it over my suggestion, reducing player dilution in this manner does 3 things-
Faster queues. More accurate SBMMR. More competitive matches.
All of these are W's for the playerbase. Trust me, they'll quickly forget Mayhem or Rift ever existed when they aren't going on a 15 streak loss thanks to inaccurate SBMMR.
#3. Optional Matchmaking for EVERYTHING
Fireteam Finder is great in theory, -blam!- in practice. I have spent infinitely more time trying to assemble teams for activities than generally in the activities themselves. The fact that some of the Portal has matchmaking and some does not is just wildly irritating.
Blow the doors off this fallacy and give us matchmaking across the board. Raids. Dungeons. NFs. With The Portal deleted, this should be a quick QoL fix for the playerbase. Again, it's optional, but as dilution rears its ugly head and increases, this is going to become a massive necessity.
#4. Reprise Old Dungeons
You've already gone and reprised Raids. So what's the big deal here? This is extending the shelf life of the game and keeping players at the teat for milk. Shattered Throne. Pit. Prophecy. They all need Master Modes. Additionally, the former two need reconfigured Loot pools.
#5. Reprise Old Locations
Europa. The Dreaming City. The Moon. The EDZ. The Cosmodrome. These incredible locations could use an update. Mostly to their Loot Pools. Makes ZERO sense to just let players buy world drops from Banshee, when they could've easily been reincorporated into these planetary systems and tied to Public Events and Patrols. Gives us purpose to explore, work with random Guardians, and get back to the heart of Destiny in the process. A real MMO vibe.
Variks and The Lectern could have their Loot Pools quickly overhauled. Devrim and Shaw could be programmed with their own pools. This isn't about stimulating new players. It's about retaining the veterans and diehards and diversifying the player experience. The game shouldn't just be Raids, Dungeons and Strikes. And with The Portal, it really just feels like whatever is outlined in that is what's to play.
#6. 6 Player Patrols
Something that NEVER made sense to me- Why do we have Raids & Arenas where we can stack with 6, but more casual activities like Patrols and Public Events only allow FTs of 3? It's long irked me we can't stack with 6 and run. And while I'm sure reprogramming for this would be nightmare, it's a simple idea that should be implemented.
Conclusion
There's plenty of life left in this franchise, but not without incentivizing retention and reducing dilution. The Portal seriously exacerbates player dilution. I keep harping on this because I am serving as a red flag to ALL Guardians here- Do not be surprised when you're waiting +10mins for activities to queue before 2026 ends. Dilution has started. And dilution will only get worse over time if left unaddressed.
There is no roadmap. There is no plan to save Destiny the Franchise. This plan doesn't provide either. It simply extends the shelf life for those of us remaining. Gives us something new to do with low effort.
Paired with the rest of the game, for many this would serve us for a long time.

1 ReplyOK, lets see: #1 - OK, I agree, but this is no small task, reverting everything back to the way it was is a huge effort. #2 - PVP? seriously, could not care what they do with PVP, it has been so broken for so long that I will never touch it again! #3 - No, hard stuff will never get done if you leave MM for everything. I can already go into something and not complete it because t we run out of revives. Removal of time limits and revives would be better than MM for everything. #4 - this could be good, but some like ghost of the deep I will NEVER run again even with the effort to update it. #5 - OK, this could be good #6 - running around with fire teams of 6 for everything would be huge to reprogram. Over all, a lot of this is positive feed back, but it would all be a huge effort, something bungie is NOT spending time on. They can't even get this seasons update out on time, how on earth could they do all this at the same time? Answer- they can't! I like most of it, but reality says they will not.

I agree with that.. It's interesting that people will die on the hill of matchmaking.. 😂😂 I can picture these people even going so far as to either ending all wars forever or matchmaking in raids.. They would choose world wars 😂.. Its elitism in the most egotistical way

3 RepliesPinnacle system is just the portal spread out over the director and I hated how i was gated for how much I could progress that was cheeks. People hate the portal for no real reason because you aint doing anything on non expansion relevant planets anyways.
-
5 RepliesEverything you mentioned I agree with except MM for raids and dungeons.

1 ReplyYou had me at remove the portal

1 ReplyEdited by Galactic Zones: 3/7/2026 7:21:57 PMI agree with that 👍 I’d also like them to bring back all missions and strikes from D1 and D2* and un-sunset all old weapons. This would allow players to upgrade them to tier 5. *I appreciate that this might be difficult with space and whatnot, but perhaps they could be rotated in. Oh , and bring back Grimoire score! 😄

1 ReplyA MASSIVE 100% YES FROM ME! Remember in the beginning of D1 when patrols were so important that there were a couple of websites which would announce when and where they going to pop up and we'd all rush to them! Now-a-days no one cares and 'if' you play it you often do it solo now. And for what? Well with the exception of some special seasonal event and we are mining for baking goods or something. That's the way of the entire game now! :(

3 RepliesEver since D1 I've found that Patrols could really benefit from a complete overhaul. You wander these zones doing absolutely nothing interesting. Sure they look great but they need harder events, unique loot and SOMETHING aside from Go Here Scan This. One thing that dampens this game is the lack of immersion .

1 ReplyAgreed on all accounts. There is no good reason to prevent matchmaking for quick play The rest seem like sound ideas as well. I like them

1 ReplyMatchmaking in raids will never happen because someone has to be a fireteam leader. While it’s probably possible to just randomly assign someone that role, the backlash to Bungie is way too high. Without a leader people could (and definitely will) do all of the things that Guardians do, that get them booted. We would have no way to stop it. We would have to leave instead of kicking them out. Some will be on purpose. Griefing, emoting, AFK, putting up a barricade or Titan Bubble in front of the team during damage phases. Microphone issues. No mic, echoing mic, noise in the background, people on mic who clearly have an illness, racist, and so many others. Skill issues: Far too many to list. These are all the reasons Bungie doesn’t have matchmaking in Endgame. It exists in Trials because the player population is just too small without it.

4 RepliesEdited by Magiscene: 3/7/2026 12:48:23 PM3 would only work for dungeons and raids if they had an explorer mode AND forced people to mic up. Otherwise I will disagree because playing just base strikes and the 6 player mode has shown me that players refuse to do objectives and bring builds that are up to snuff like running antichamp mods. Otherwise i strongly disagree with 3 ever working on endgame content due to most players being the add clear only role. For the PvP rotation i agree and disagree. I personally like being able to play what i want when i want instead of having to wait for it to come back into rotation. I also do acknowledge that yes the player population is so small we need fewer modes. The matchmaking is the main reason I can’t stand PvP. Constantly being forced into one sided games and losing due to crap luck instead of skill just destroys my motivation to play. I just want fair games in PvP because I love those games that come down to the wire.

12 RepliesNone of those things are easy except reducing pvp playlists.
-
#1 & #3 absolutely! Hopefully we see these changes in June.
-
1 ReplyIt’s funny you type all of this, despite the fact that they don’t even have a fraction of the devs needed to make this all happen.
-
13 RepliesDungeons fine but way too many of you think there would be actual completions of raids if they put matchmaking in, there wouldn’t be. It would be 90% no mic’s with only maybe 5% people who could ever complete a raid.

eliteg👎👍🙏⚔️😴 - old
I agree with it all even the PVP. I've sorta mentioned something like that before (in PVP) but yours is better imo. The rotation will make it very focused for players and population (as long as they add the differentiated loot back in)... there will be a reason to that specific week's chase for PVP. Trials loot including old perhaps with adding back in engrams... same especially for Comp... IB is already setup correctly at least with various loot obtainable... you could even mix up arms week into that... if they add the variety of loot back in I dont even mind if a week is dedicated to Heavy Metal.. as you can always play the 6v6 and 3v3 (hopefully for generalized big Shax offered loot) ....the kicker would be to bring back vendor ranking that resets somehow (even monthly if not seasonally) so that we get the multiperks... for PVP I would also say we are ok without tiering if we just have balance in the stats per subarchetype... otherwise just tier it all I only mentioned PVP up there but agree with all your PVE mentions as well... anything there yes quick ez win for Destiny. Oh I should mention ONSLAUGHT. They killed my favorite activity... bring the old ITL Brave Arsenal back online, maps..etc... this in some fashion would be great. ...willing to pay for a minimum quality offering (viable needs to be rejected) you can make it exciting and bring back some old players imo by making a statement of commitment backed by Sony as to life of game... and then including RNG drops of limited holofoil/emblems/shaders...etc to the week's or limited time activity
can try funding it with gofundme even... which sounds funny... but I think is practical and worth an experiment
