Arms week full of bugs again. No QA in Bungo as usual. Uh-Oh Spaghetti Code.
*fixed arms day to arms week* I miss Banshee's arms day in D1

The #1 reason I’m skipping Marathon is because I’ve spent 11 years watching how Bungie supported Destiny and treated their customers. If Destiny/Bungie is ever going to make a comeback, it won’t be under the current leadership and it won’t be with Marathon.

3 RepliesEdited by Tis-but-a-scratch: 1/28/2026 5:18:46 PMLet me be clear about Marathon should bungle care about my opinion. (I know they don’t, but it ain’t gonna stop me) I will not nor will I ever even consider trying it out even if it was free for the weekend. I simply have zero interest in it and wish they would have put their resources into a D3. Maybe some type of prequel to D1 just after the collapse and leading up to the events in D1. Marathon = 💩

If Marathon flops, all the attention will be directed back to D2 and things will be fixed. Unfortunately there may be liittle to no player base by then
-
Understand it's not that they cant. Bungie just will not fix anything because.......

Edited by glitchHiker: 1/29/2026 9:16:15 PMI was in the wait and see camp until they decided to launch the game right when shadow and order is supposed to release. As if it wasn't bad enough they've been neglecting Destiny since marathon's failed reveal, not to mention a huge slap in the face, they're now intentionally f*cking what's left of their fan base over. It's either intentional mismanagement and they're proving how incompetent and tone deaf they are, or it's an intentional "f*ck you all" from Bungie. Now they're either postponing shadow and order for God knows how long or they're releasing their big new game AND a "major update" to their existing game at the same time, which would make them competing against each other. I highly doubt even Bungie is that stupid. They're banking on D2 players jumping on the Marathon bandwagon because of how much they love d2 and Bungie, yes this is how tone deaf they really are. Pretty much everyone who loves Destiny absolutely HATES Bungie for what they've done to their players over the years. Clearly they've never read a single forum post or go on reddit. If Bungie has mismanaged Destiny and their fan base for so long, what makes us think Marathon will be any different? It won't be. So why not just release Marathon in April? What's the rush? It's not like they didn't know shadow and order is supposed to come out within days of that date. Why would they do this? Because they clearly don't give 2 sh*ts about D2 or it's fan base anymore, and that's why Marathon will fail. The only people buying it will be the 50 or so extraction shooter die hards in the world, they'll try it for 10 minutes then decided to go back to tarkov or arc raiders when they realize how shallow the experience really is compared to the other games in that crowded market that have had more time to add more content to them. Marathon will be a ghost town in a month tops. I can't wait until Marathon inevitably fails and all those resources go back into the next final shape sized expansion. Assuming D2 isn't also a ghost town by then.

1 ReplyWho wants to take bets that Marathon works on launch day?
-
Got good news for bungie Marathon it’s no going to be Concord 2 title taken by Highguard instead will be Concord 3 sorry guys I know how much you wanted to be 2. Do you think the people Sony got working at bungie now can pull this off when can’t even deal with destiny 2 issues.
-
You know d2 was supposed to end with witch queen? They extended the life of destiny on a limb.
-
1 ReplyI agree, I am not touching Marathon with a stick after experiencing the incredible mess D2 has become in the last years
-
Everything will get fixed. Especially since just now shadow and order major update has been delayed months. This will give them time to fix everything.

17 RepliesI don't know why anyone would buy Marathon. Same anti cheat, and we all know battle eye is the worst anti cheat out there. We all know how bad pvp is in this game.
-
2 RepliesEven if Destiny 2 was bug free and hadn’t been ignored, gutted by the Portaloo and generally mismanaged by Bungie for … well most of its entire existence, I still wouldn’t pre order or play Marathon, for four main reasons. Reason 1. I absolutely hate extraction shooters Reason 2. The art style of the text in game is very hard for me to read. Reason 3 Don’t like the rest of the art style in the game. It gives me a headache. Reason 4. I absolutely hate extraction shooters. Now I know that’s technically only 3 reasons, however I thought that the first one was so important it needed stating twice 🤣. In reality the mess that D2 PvP is in is the biggest advertisement NOT to preorder this game. If I was interested I’d be in the wait and see camp. But I’m not interested in Marathon. I also think this is going to be Bungie’s FAFO moment, when Marathon becomes the game that sits between Corcord and DA : Veilguard in terms of failing spectacularly.

Edited by Guardian, Archon Of Light: 1/28/2026 4:46:20 PM98% of the studio is working on Marathon Im guessing there is maybe 5 people running D2
-
So don't pre-order it for -blam!- sake. Do you need permission to make a decision on your own?
-
I will not buy Marathon. It's enough. But hopefully, it will be good, or Bungie is even more in the bad.
-
1 ReplyI was seriously thinking I might give it a try. I watched the first video on the buy page, and was amazed at how boring it looked. If that's how it plays, it's going to be a colossal flop.
-
I refund my money for Marathon.
-
19 RepliesThat is an illogical reason why not to buy marathon. There is a huge difference between the 2 game's codes. 1 is trying to mix and match old and new code together, get them to play nice, while continuing to stuff it in an already overstuffed container. The other is being built from the ground up with only new code, in a container that it fits. I'm not saying marathon will be bug free, no game is, but trying to say it will have as many bugs as an 8 year old game they continue to put content into isn't true.

Arms day full of bugs again. No QA in Bungo as usual. Uh-Oh Spaghetti Code.
Says spaghetti code, doesn't actually know what that means. Also expects devs to have zero bugs on a 10+ year old multi-million LOC codebase which no employee understands.

Its baffling to me to not have 1.. just 1 employee go through and check what is out there... what did we just do every reset IT IS BAFFLING the main thing we just dropped... lets maybe just have 1 employee test it? ew play our game?...geeez Sony. Help. I had been seriously considering Marathon - getting ready to maybe even contact buddies to test the game... but the currrent change in PVP and these quality issues makes me think its been just a large marketing effort (surface)... and underneath is just garbage due to these bad processes and horrible vision/philosophy and leadership at this game company -
1 ReplyYeah just imagine launch day, yes we are sorry the game keeps crashing but we didn't think we would get a hundred people wanting to play our latest pile of crap.
-
are you talking about ArtStealthon?
-
I'll try the free demo but from what I have seen game is definitely not for me

6 RepliesAlmost 10 year old game? You do realize in September the game will have been out for 12 years. Aside from that I agree lol
