Warlock Healing Rift not working consistently

Several times a night ncluding a flawless solo run on equilibrium dungeon, I used my healing rift, it goes through the animation of putting the rift down, it takes the energy out of the slot, and you have no healing rift. Then you most of the time die, like in my solo flawless run at the final boss. I've asked other warlocks, I game with and it happens to them as well.

  • I literally brought this up in the feedback part of these forums and some guy was like it works fine. I believe it's the change they made to being able to cast it while moving. In concept it sounds good, in actual use, it sucks.

    • If you use rift augments (Frostpulse, Deimosuffusion, Vesper's Radius) you can see that your rifts are actually spawning underneath the map. If I had to guess, I'd say that rift spawn location is determined by some point on our player model, and the new animation added in Renegades is causing that point to clip underneath the map in certain instances. Can't say I've been able to pinpoint conditions to consistently replicate the issue. But yeah I lose probably 20% of my rifts under the map.

      • I think they are aware of this. For some reason if you use it on odd geometry it goes throught the floor. There is also a delay if you try to pop a rift using braxic blade (it's got me killed a few times).

      • Can't be sure but it looks like this is happening :- Cast rift - character lifts due to the new animation. Rift is set on ground. Character drops to ground and rift is pushed below ground level. Almost as if the distance the character is above the rift when cast acts like a solid bar maintaining the separation instead of the rift remaining at ground level. Nice, not.

      • Its one of Destiny's oldest bug issue, below floor placement. We have seen and complained about this back in D1, all through D2, ESPECIALLY in Gambutt. Do they fix there floor meshing system to make sure everything sits just a pixel or two above the mesh like any SANE dev would? Nope!!! Plus I think the rift is designed to be a flat circular area of maximum effect with a small dome falloff zone above and below. So if the ground is not flat (most isn't in Destiny) then there are issues the higher, or lower you are away from the plane where it was created.

      • This happened to me as well one time. Only once though. I’m not sure what exactly causes it but I’ve notice some interactions causing mechanics to not work on warlock. For example if you use arc soul on the second boss in vespers, it will bug out and you can’t see the correct numbers. The rift disappearing might have happened twice but once for sure and idk why it just vanished

        I haven't experienced the no'cast but I believe the reports of it happening. I hope it gets fixed for you but not at the expense of the ability to move while casting. I love that in all content but especially PVP...

      • ...I haven't noticed but...I can recall dying a bit...well instantly ish after casting my rift... I passed it off as bad timing... But now not so sure

        This has been a bane of an issue for years. Slowest class ability in terms of casting and zero help. They know, and I wish I could say it will be fixed. But probably won't. Occasionally it happened in the past, for myself, where the rift didn't drop but those were rare. Sorry though. If it gets fixed great but don't hold your breath.
