New Shaders are bad.

I've talked about this before, but I just don't understand why every new Shader has to be so complicated. Not everyone wants to wear jaguar print or caution tape or graffiti or whatever else. Some people just want to have simple Shaders with appealing colors, and a silver or some other shiny color here and there. Whenever a new simple Shader does come out, it's always just one solid color like Superblack which, frankly, is both lazy and uninteresting. It's either that or the Shader is extremely niche and only works well with specific aesthetics. For every new flashy Shader like Infinidescence, there should be another that's just a simple combination of three or, at most, four colors. We need more Shaders like Metro Shift or Noble Constant Red that are easy to use and shade consistently across all armor. And people shouldn't have to flawless a raid to get these simple Shaders either. I don't think this is much to ask.

  • I kinda agree. I think it's funny how you can go page by page and the closer you get to Y1 shaders, they get cleaner and cleaner. The majority of current shaders look either distressed or have, frankly, terrible color schemes. That animated one with Matrix-esque scrolling text? Like what are we doing here. If you wanna find patient zero, it was probably that one time during Witch Queen's launch and a new shader was showing the hot pink temp texture instead of the correct one. I remember a TWAB saying something among the lines of "we don't know why you like this, but I guess we'll do more in that vein" and here we are.

  • They’re literally selling a 5 pack of shaders in the shop, which are all the same shader save for a color shift.

    • They should just do away with shaders altogether and replace it with something else. Warframe lets you customize every nook and cranny on every character and piece of gear you can think of. Destiny could easily do the same.

      • I miss the times when Shaders were just different sci-fi metal/material-patterns like carbon fiber or some scratched metal in different colors and reflection values, without dumb graffiti on top of it or moving textures.

      • Shaders are bad in general. This is far too late but shaders [i]should[/i] have been individual materials from the very start, rather than a collection of materials and glows.

            • Yeh some of the new shaders do look really bad I dislike the new colour system of the shaders, unless l see the name of the shader, i dont have a clue what colour I will actually get on my weapon or piece of armor lol Just give us a search option as well please lol

            • While it's true we don't seem to get as many "basic" shaders as we used to, the number of "basic" shaders far outstrips the amount of animated/noisy shaders still. I think the real problem with the current iteration on animated shaders is that they're overly animated/noisy or rely too heavily on cascading color changes which makes them hard to use with other shaders.

              • There are a lot of shaders, it seems a little......petty to fuss over a few; especially those that require completing higher difficulty content to earn.

                • yep first season i'm not buying ev shaders, on other hand we finally got a decent shader from the dungeon and the dlc too
