The community clearly has differing views when it comes to the state of Destiny. Veteran players will say the game is severely lacking, while New Light players will say that there is lots to do with a great story. This poll is to get a general idea where we stand with the current state of Destiny. Luke Smith stated before that they wanted to increase player satisfaction. For example, after completing a Nightfall: The Ordeal, and obtaining the loot at the end, are you satisfied? Do you believe that spending your time playing that specific piece of content, earning the rewards that you got, was worth it?

I have glanced at Destiny Tracker every single day for over 2 and a half years now. Usually just go to it quickly while using the bathroom. The reason I do such a thing, is I am enjoying the long-term trends I have been seeing. Yes, there is a rare day where logins hit the highest peak, but I promise you this. For more than 2 and a half years, so this includes before even Forsaken launched, there has been a trend. Before Forsaken, Destiny 2 lost millions upon millions of players, who had enough with Destiny 2 Vanilla issues back then, on top of the individual reasons each player was done with Bungie altogether. Forsaken was an amazing DLC that gave us everything, and Bungie even did everything we been begging for forever, example, shotguns and snipers became no longer heavy weapons needing heavy ammo. But Forsaken didn't really bring that many players back to this game. Come Shadowkeep, logins were at even bigger lows, and Shadowkeep didn't pull of bringing people back. See, looking at Destiny Tracker every sjngle day, Destiny 2 has been steady losing players left and right. You ask about the current state of Destiny, but you are asking the fww players still here. The real answer is since just before Forsaken, players threatening to quit on the forums, barely represent the amount of players who actually have quit and refuse to play this game ever again. - Whether it's Sunsetting. - Trials and PVP being filled with hackers and cheaters. Bungie lying to us. - The content droughts for over 11 months after each DLC, with events being the same as the years before without even at least new rewards. You can pick what issues mean the most to you, since you are the one that gets to say what matters to you as a player, and what issues are not impacting your individual gameplay really. But reality is, Forsaken brought very few people back, Shadowkeep didn't and also didn't stop the massive amounts of players leaving, Beyond Light is hitting records for lowest players even logging in. So the answer is Sinking Ship. The current state of Destiny is Sinking Ship. A sinking ship that Bungie even put Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and Forsaken free for Xbox Gamepass users, and sorry to break it to you. It was a desperate attempt by Bungie to save this game by making everything completely free, and even after gamepass started hosting all the DLC, the logins didn't jump even one day in the weeks since cause the few people joining this game, are less than the people quitting left and right. Little advice for free from me. I will find you the Activision contract if you want. Bungie had already so much work done on Destiny 3 cause of the strict schedule Activision imposed. Beyond Light has 0 new pvp maps, 1 strikes, and so little content, cause Bungie was actually working on a Destiny 3 many many months back. But Activision in their investors call, called out Bungie infront of all the rich investors and stock holders and news companies listening. Activision called out Bungie for having the worst sales possible, and shamed Bungie for always making people quit this game from bad decisions and issues Bungie creates. Activision humiliated Bungie on the spot, THEN came the Activision Bungie split. I also read the court documents for the split, and Activision said fuq this franchise, Bungie doesn't owe Activision anything anymore, just as long as Activision could get away from their company and not have to publish anymore for a game that doesn't sell enough anymore to be worth publishing. That's why Bungie then randomly said there would be no Destiny 3, and this game is getting Beyond Light and 2 more DLCs. They accepted that they barely even have any players left, and took the loss on their work on D3. Now they are going to just sell us DLCs with barely any content, but at prices almost as much as a sequel costs. They are wanting to milk D2 for a couple more years cause the DLC they make is nothing compared to a new game with new planets, new maps, new strikes, etc. They are hoping to have more players and they put everything free for Xbox even in hopes to get new players. But it's a lost cause, and they know this though they won't tell you it cause they want you to keep buying DLCs still. There is ALWAYS issues that are game breaking or community outraging. Logins on D Tracker for over 2 years proves that not only are people quitting and never coming back, but they tell all their friends how much they hate Destiny and why they hate Bungie, now new players aren't even joining when being thrown all DLCs for free, cause their friends all convinced them never to give this game a chance and play other games. Also, just so you know, Activision and Bungie entered into a 10 year plan. It is technically 7 years into it, and that is why we last minute were told there wouldn't be a D3 and Beyond Light was what's next. Bungie knows that it is no longer capable for Destiny to get a profitable amount of players again. So guess what. The 10 year plan is the end. Cause coming up on year 7 of the franchise, Bungie annouced Beyond Light (8), Witch Queen (9) or whatever and Lightfall (10). It is clearly a truth that them having 3 years more of Destiny 2, a game already 3 years old and SSSSOOOO BORING ALREADY TO SUFFER STRIKES FROM 2017, DESTINATIONS, PVP MAPS, SO MUCH OF THE GAME PLAY IS 2017 CONTENT WE ARE STUCK SUPPOSE TO SOMEHOW ENJOY. It is up to you what you will do with this information of login trends and blah blah blah. You can either choose to ride out anyother 3 pathetic years of DLCs of very little real new content, or you can decide to give up like the 21.4 million tracked players but highest Logins in a day, in over 2 years, is only 1.2 million players. Basic math of those two numbers is a unbelievable 94% of players tracked have quit this game franchise.

Looking at the poll just from the community. IMO this game needs new leadership like really bad. It's like anyone that tried to get this game moving forward it seems right afterwords somone was trying to shut it down or remove what was actually good about the game. Look at the work Barrett did The work Taylor did High Moon and the other studio It seems every time somone else took over after things were good, they were out to ruin it. Edit: I wonder how many actual Bungie employees are voting "yes" 😂

      • Nope. Been spending the time that I would normally spend on Destiny on other games. Games that are more engaging, games where you actually feel progression, and games that are just plain fun. Thank you, Steam Holiday Sale.

        • They should bring in all of D1 content into D2! I don't care if you have to charge me 59.99 copy and paste the damn thing at least I know what I'm getting and I know it's much better than Luke's Smith Vision of the damn game.

            • This is somewhat tricky to answer as this is still my favorite game since 2014. Yes I'm still happy with Destiny and its the reason I can still play it as often as I do. Fundamentally, this is still the best fps I've ever played with fun and exciting loadouts, powers, and playstyle combinations across all three character types. The game is visually stunning, the soundtracks are great, I love the lore and world building that has gone into this universe, as well as the majority of the characters. The gameplay at its core is still excellent and its why I don't see myself leaving the franchise. However this doesn't mean I'm satisfied with the state of the game. I wish world maps were more worthwhile to explore and play on. They primarily exist after campaigns to grind out bounties and that's such a waste of landscape. I feel a lot of the original destiny map appeal came from their secrets which were discovered through exploration (and world bosses that kept the map exciting). I feel that has been lost to the season model and FOMO. I wish there were more public event variants and more worthwhile patrols. I can hardly stand to que for strikes anymore because I'm exhausted of running the same missions over and over when they have zero bearing in the current story and are just really really really old. I feel like the strike playlist should be getting a strike added or swapped out every season to keep it fresh and relevant. I don't like that armor is very expensive to masterwork but has a much shorter lifespan for usability with the current sunsetting model. I dislike that mods are essentially impossible to obtain now with some mods only appearing 3 or fewer times in a year for purchase. I would love it if some of the more significant story elements were not being unveiled through lore rather than a cutscene or one of those live cutscenes where a character is temporarily on the map to show us an important exchange or discovery. I still prefer the original D1 subclass system over the current system and the stasis subclass system that was recently introduced. I wish dungeons had tiered difficulties and worthwhile loot since they are 2nd to raids in my book for solid PVE content. I miss the secret missions which were my favorite PVE content to run. I prefer the "content droughts" of old over the FOMO season model for more reasons than I care to articulate in this massive column, the biggest though, being the breathing room it used to give players to play other games. I'd still be playing Destiny every week anyway, but there could be a month where I just play the content I like and starting a new game or finishing Red Dead Redemption 2, rather than chasing time gated content and trying to stay invested in campaigners. I wish all vanity was accessible and purchasable rather than through a limited featured store. I'd like it if light level reflected my strength versus reflecting what content I can access. There are too many exotics in the game that need TLC or catalysts to make them relevant. Shader system needs an overhaul entirely. Good Transmog should be in the game by now and not just based on eververse. I'm one of those -blam!- that spends lavishly on ornaments and I still think all players have an inherent need for basic aesthetic customization. Weather on Europa is really cool but I wish it was more difficult to deal with than just limiting my vision in a way that doesnt limit my ability to clear at all, and I'd like it implemented on all locations. I feel the game either needs more playlists activities as things to do, or to overhaul the current 3 playlist activities so that people arent sitting in orbit saying "now what?" Game needs a horde mode and there are at least 3 enemy factions you could have endlessly pour out of portals. (Hive, Taken, Vex) Hell, bring back Ikora's meditations but send us to the biggest battles in destiny's history as flashbacks (six fronts, twilight gap, the great disaster etc.) Base stats need some tuning or reworking as mobility still outclasses most other stats regardless of which class you're playing. PvP needs maps and less mercies. Stasis is fine. Its, the new thing in a multiplayer game, I expect it to be strong enough for people to want to use it. Freeze could be reduced and ally fire should break the ice much easier but again, whatever. Gambit needs anyone at all to look at it rather than leaving it as an abandoned game mode that made the cut. I'm a bigger gambit fan than I am of the other 2 core playlist activities and seeing it get as much attention as crucible makes me sad. Campaigns need some failure involved. I'm not referring to a barrier that is immune and forces us to temporarily retreat, I mean our guardian needs to lose some fights and canonically need to be revived by our ghost to add severity to the threats, and make villains seem like more than tall cannon fodder. These villains need to be threats to us, not obstacles for our loot. And lets take advantage of our immortality as a story point rather than what it has been left as, which is a means of explaining gameplay. So yes I'm happy with Destiny :)

            • I just like the game for what it is, even though it has an incredibly large amount of flaws. The thing that I’m really in it for is the guys I play it with as together we can play for hours and hours and not get bored, we can do this for other games but destiny is just the most fun to play together and that’s why we stay.

              • We need an all out war in a pve gamemode. Just hordes and hordes of enemies vs 12 guardians. We need about ten more strikes, doesn’t matter where, to satisfy the pve players, and a balanced PvP state along with 3 new maps for each planet to mostly satisfy the PvP players. Remove PvP from gambit, or only allow one invasion. The winning team will keep on winning due to gabambit physics. Oh yeah did I mention about 100 new weapons. There should be a void, arc, solar for every weapon. Ex: there should be a void, arc, solar high impact pulse rifles which counts for 3 different pulses so that u are not forced to choose only the solar because the arc and void don’t exist. And more golfballs/prisms for solo players.

              • For me, it's the removal of story missions, apart from when a new expansion comes out or start and end of seasons, i don't grind expect for season rank (only to 100) and power cap (non-pinnacle). I replay games for story like metal gear saga, mass effect, wow, currently running through ffxiv Shadowbringers. If they didn't get rid of old content, I would still be playing destiny 2 even now.

No' not at all I'm sorry to say, and have lost all desire to chase weapons and armor that will expire, whats is the point of master-working anymore or grinding for good rolls just to throw them in the trash. Some may like it but ten out of my ten gaming family do not and I'm the only one left that still plays destiny 2 in our family, nine of my family of gamers have bailed along with all but one friend and our clan has died. So I repeat " Not at all!

                  • I’m really mixed on this one. On one hand there was a lot of good stuff introduced in the new season like the new destination and raid and stasis, but there was a lot of bad that came at the same time like content vaulting and the current version of sunsetting. I don’t know where I stand on this area.

                  • I’d gladly host a 200GB+ file size for the game. Vaulting never held any weight to me and was a non-issue made into an issue. I’m willing to cede it might’ve been difficult to maintain all the content, but given the ambition of this game, it should be feasible. Sunsetting has completely and utterly decimated my desire to play Destiny. Nothing is worth getting except Exotics.

                  • The raid is the only activity that feels rewarding, though knowing the weapons are going to be sunset reduces the need to grind for god rolls, well done bungie! For years the biggest problem is that people at bungie barely play the game. It’s why they understand the community less than they think they do. Like congratulations on doing a bunch of stuff not very well!
