Am I the only one that thinks this ? I’m not saying the game was bad by any means ( breath fanboys) but I feel it’s praised so much when it wasn’t even fun. I felt like I was playing a romance novel with hardly any monster fights and the monsters I did fight were easy or boring.
A lot of the basic enemies were the same with identical attack patterns and the combat was stale.
I keep trying to get back into it to finish the DLC but I can’t. Am I getting old or something ? Should I start a fresh play through ?
Edit* I played it on the hardest difficulty I was able to.

Same thing with Smash Ultimate, fight me.

That's the thing with opinions. In my opinion Zelda botw is boring. Dishonored sucked. Deus Ex sucked. AC Origins and Odyssey are both boring. There are all opinions.

You are not alone. I’ve seen a few ( just a few, but you are not alone ) people who agree with you. However, I do think that a lot of of gamers who aren’t necessarily RPG fans ( and have no history with the franchise ) probably went out and bought it on the strength of all the Amazing reviews and didn’t fully understand what type of game they were buying ( Streamer Epicnamebro, who primarily plays ‘Souls’ games immediately comes to mind ). For what it’s worth, I own it ( bought it at launch ) and I’ve yet to beat the Griffin at the beginning of the game ( Destiny has taken up all my spare time, and I’m not a fan of the Horse, I much rather have a smaller, denser in game world than a large map filled with a lot dead space ).

4 RepliesA 'romance novel with hardly any monster right's, what game were you playing because it wasn't Witcher 3. Now I can agree combat had some flaws, but the characters and story were amazing. If it didn't float your boat that's fine, but list actual criticism of the game for why, . Not stupid crap.

Atleast give valid reasons mate, I disagree but respect your opinion.

Edited by Jotaro Kujo PhD: 12/18/2018 9:59:49 PMYou're probably very over-leveled or playing the game on an easy difficulty. Though there are some bosses like the first (optional) boss fight in Hearts of Stone that are challenging even when you don't play on death march. Even enemies that are normally resistant to certain signs become to kill with those signs past a certain level. I would honestly activate level scaling and turn the difficulty up.

Get out.

2 RepliesProof that opinions can in fact be wrong.
-
Your mom is over rated.
-
I’d assume you were playing on an easier difficulty, then. The only other game that makes you prepare harder for fights is Monster Hunter, otherwise you will get destroyed by whatever you’re fighting.
-
Play on deathmarch.. Only way.
-
Hardly any monster fights? What game were you playing??
-
Hands down one of my favorite games of this generation.

Lol @ looking at how most people who said something positive about the game got downvoted. -
I think your overrated and need to reconsider some things... if you know what I mean?
-
I agree that it's a bit overrated, but saying there weren't many monster fights is ridiculous. Like, pretty much everything you fight is a monster
-
3 RepliesGod combat was horrible and repetitive.
-
A game just isn't for everyone, in our case Witcher 3 just isn't for us.
-
3 RepliesI'll be honest, those were pretty rubbish reasons. "It felt like playing a romance novel" What does that even mean? :S Plus, there's at least 30 contracts. How can you say there's not enough monster fights? I'll agree a lot of them were the same fight with a few decent exceptions, though. But there's plenty of negative things to say about The Witcher 3, you just haven't. To say it's overrated, though... Ehhh! That's hard to agree with. The game kicked up a massive storm, and almost every AAA ARPG after it has taken notes - even Assassin's Creed.
-
To each their own. People find PvP thrilling when I find it to be pointless digital chest thumping. I find branching plotpoints and all the prep that goes into hunts really fun. Also the characters are a real hoot and a half.
-
Compared to a vast majority of other underwhelming AAA games at the time? Nah, it wasn't overrated. When you look at an ACTUAL overrated game like Fortnite, Witcher 3 doesn't even come close.
-
Overrated yes Good game though and I think it’s a must for any who enjoy open world story driven games

It's one of the best games of all time, but yes it's overrated. Doesn't make it bad. -
Agree, tried playing it from start 4 times since release..... It's just not for me.
-
It wasnt bad of a game. Overrated yes but not a terrible game.

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 12/18/2018 1:50:50 AMI kind of agree that the combat wasn’t great. I also think exploration was a bit average as well. But the appeal of that game to me wasn’t so much the gameplay by the amazing characters and story. It is without doubt one of the best written games I’ve ever played. I found the shades of grey and depth of the writing really engrossing all the way through. I guess if you’re not into the story or you’re more of a gameplay type of person you probably wouldn’t like it. There’s nothing wrong with not liking a game that other people like. I don’t think it was at all overrated IMO. I think some games just aren’t for everyone.
