Why are these forums so filled with trolls and people who hate the game?
I've been on a lot of forums but I've never been on any with this much toxicity. "LOL Dedstiny 1.5 sucks LOL" constantly. Also so many trolls. What gives? These forums are a sh!thole.

1 ReplyBelieve it or not, it used to be much worse here. Before Destiny 1, this place was full of Halo fans. Even the very visible presence of the Forum Ninjas (that's the mods for people who weren't here back in the day) couldn't stop the forums from becoming a fire hazard with the constant flamewar going on between the wannabe MLG tryhards and the more casual players. As long as eSports and the MLG attitude stay as far away from Destiny as possible, this place will stay tolerable.

It's much better than it used to be. The trouble is that the forum is open to all ages and all mentalities so it's going to happen.

It's a place to voice your concerns. I played the beta and I'm appalled at the direction this game is going. If you think after 3 years I don't have a right to speak up about the game, then you should be preaching to Bungie to delete these forums.

Its because the forums are over run with entitled children. Five year olds shouting and bickering that their opinion is better then yours, and will troll the shit out of you until you block them or meekly agree with them just to appease them.. and then there are the people who just sit back and tolerate this behavior. Then all together they just "lol" and say "its the internet" as if that is a good excuse for poor behavior and lack of manners.

Hell you want to take a leap back in History, people were whining about ODST being a Halo 3 re-skin, but praised it when Reach came out. Even when content creation went over to 343 people were saying that Reach was better before 343 got a hold of it, but as soon as Halo 4 hit people started acting like 343 should have stuck with Reach. Ever since Ocarina of Time I can't tell you how many people constantly bitched about each sequel til the next one came out only to spew about how they loved the previous one. Keep in mind I am talking about majorities here as there are people that legitimately do hate what they are seeing, but a lot of it is knee-jerk reactions and band-wagon hate because it's something new.

I've never really been a forum user until Destiny. If you want info you have to sift through all this stupidity to find a grain of something good or useful.

They're not, they're filled with people who really quite enjoy destiny, some who even love it, the one thing they all have in common is they want destiny to be better. They want destiny to fulfil is potential, just because a negative statement has been made, well if you can't slate the ones you love for their own self improvement, who's ever going to tell them??

The anonymous nature of the forum means many people exhibit no signs of self respect. They do not fear the consequences of posting substandard content. This transfers to a lack of respect for others. People have been taught that everyone has the right to have an opinion without being taught that some opinions have more value than others. An opinion based in ignorance and faulty reasoning just makes the holder of that opinion look like an idiot. Many of the posters are repeating other people's opinions without understanding them. Especially in the streaming pvp community. Many posters are lonely and crave any recognition that they exist, even if it's negative. People are stupid. Many posters are young and don't know they're stupid yet. And some people are just dicks who hate their lives and want to spread their misery. Fortunately, the asshats are a tiny portion of the community, even though, like a giant inflamed butt zit, they are a royal pain in the ass.
